Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Depending on where you live. Consider telling your local gov representative to consider making a deal with spain. We're fucking giving our foodstuffs to the cattle here because EU restrictions on our farms have fucking destroyed our exports. That's what I was bitching about 2 posts ago, the EU made them even harsher even during the fucking coronavirus. My friend's father has a small farm and he's literally adding his veggies and even olives to prepared cat food for the local strays 'cause at least that way it doesn't end up feeding bacteria in the countryside. We literally have too much god damned food thanks to Merkel and that french fuck.

What did EU do to fuck up farming?

People who think ecoloons CAN make a bioweapon really don't know how hard it is to do so. Both in required materials, protocols to avoid killing yourself or the sample, and general knowledge, not to mention the time and test subjects required.

At worst they'd steal one, and get promptly fucked by its cure/vaccine. More likely, check out "neo sanyasa" as I keep mentioning. Then Imagine that, but even dumber.

It may be hard but the thing is seeing the results of this is right up the hardcore eco-freaks alley of wet dreams. There are some serious and scary people involved in that particular apocalyptic cult, not just larpers and I really wish the government would take more of an interest in them.

Worth reading a little about. Former British (and Dutch before that) colony with predominantly ethnic Chinese population that got independence via increments, and when it did, kept the English language and the basis of law and in fact promoted the English language as the primary language of education. They did this to be attractive and competitive in the business world, while also investing heavily in public education, establishing a manufacturing sector and taking a great interest in public health and housing. It;s quite interesting that the party that achieved independence - the PAP or People's Action Party was basically communist to begin with, but didn't really go full dumb stupid/genocidal commie the way that happened everywhere else but instead calmed down, adapted to the real world and found effective solutions to issues that were not purely ideology-based.

They also reclaimed a huge amount of swamp over time to extend the size of the island and build upon. It now has two official languages : Mandarin and English and is a global financial and business centre with a very high standard of living. It's cleaner than any US or European city in all respects and has very, very low crime and great public transport. The most you can accuse Singapore of is occasionally being kind of boring, like a huge, endless shopping centre, a bit prudish in certain respects (they tend to censor naughty bits out of films etc) and lacking certain freedoms such as the right to protest noisily in the street. Homosexuality is still illegal in the sense of male homosexual acts being illegal but you only risk arrest if you basically perform them in the street. I knew a lot of gays of both sexes there who were fine being who they were, and lived their lives without problems.

They also do stuff that makes some people cry, like caning for certain criminal offences, death penalty via hanging for drug crimes and if you immigrate even temporarily on a work visa, you can be picked to take a mandatory HIV test and chest x-ray for TB. Test positive for either disease and they deport you within 48 hours or so. I know this because I won that lottery myself when I worked there. The hospitals were beautiful though, and efficient, as were all the family type doctor practices I saw for various issues.
Like any sane person, the PAP started out leftist and drifted right as time went on.

There are multiple things that my American ass doesn’t really get it, but various bits of overregulation and the French resorting to all sorts of chicanery to maintain them being Europe’s breadbasket while refusing to use bits of modern agriculture that don’t fuck the environment for some reason are the two I remember.

Quite literally block exports and artificially decrease the price of food through government mandated maximum values. Right now for spanish farmers sending food outside of spain is more expensive than what they'd get for doing so. Sheer, unmitigated government overreach is what it fucking is. No really, seriously, because of how fucked up EU regulation is france and germany get to decide how much food you can export and how much you'll be paid for it. And this year they decided to be EXTRA retarded by telling spanish farmers there's not gonna be ANY real exports because if there is they're not gonna even let them put a prize high enough to pay for the god damned travel. Welcome to globalist hell. Merkel made it real. Non farmers over here aren't feeling very sorry though. While the rest of the world sees their food price rise to high hell our supermatkets are fucking crammed with local produce, doubt there's gonna be any famine unless the farmers literally stop being able to afford farming altogether, and at this point I wouldn't put it past those gabachos to push it to that limit next year...

To be fair Trump also decided to double team us by putting some ludicrous import tarifs on spanish stuff. So that's made it worse, but at least he DID have a reason to do so because our corrupt ass government WAS fucking with him. So I can't blame him for keeping america's interests in mind. The frenchies are just twisting the knife because that's what they do whenever they feel bad about themselves, and germany is letting them because since Aznar got us in this mess they seem to think spain's a colony. Honestly I'm hearing some of the more desperate lower class people saying some really fucked up shit and I can't say I didn't think about it. So while I'm too much of a coward and an idiot to commit that kinda suicide by cop, I wouldn't be surprised if the kinda folks that have already accumulated enough hatred for the EU due to the poverty they've inflicted on us wind up fixing a few walking, talking, breathing issues the old way, and I can't say I would think them wrong for it. Every year they kick us harder than the last, and apparently not even a pandemic and the brits breaking is enough to keep them from twisting that blade in again, sometimes a point really does need to be made, and our politicians sure as shit wont. You know how bad people's psyche can get under those circumstances, and some farmers have been surviving by eating their own stuff, living on that and neighbor's charity and hoping things get better for a while now.

They're creepy, they're evil, they're certainly dangerous. They're not even close to knowledgeable enough to make a bioweapon. Again, steal it? Possible, try to use a normal pathogen like the sanyasans? Most definitely. But bioweapons are REALLY hard to design and even harder to make. And while the labs are cheap ecoloons do not have the skills to opperate them, not by a long shot. Its not like putting HIV and flu together just gives you a bioweapon, you need to know how to mix them and what parts to mix, snd even then if you just grab oatchworks of other viri as soon as someone uses BLAST they'll know what you did and then if what you used has treatment they'll find it, unless you're intelligent enough to find a way to counter known treatments, and none of them are that good at ANYTHING in live. That's why they're terrorists, because they're either idiots or desperate. If they had the kinda skills needed for this shit they'd be neither.

Well now I feel bad for calling it a shithole. Good for them! Taking into account their sociopolitical neughbors and geographical environment it is quite puzzling that they got this good.

When Malaysia BTFO'd Singapore from their federation, Singapore had very little in the way of resources and industry, so the PAP really had to be practical than ideological to keep the country afloat. Lee Kuan Yew did a masterful job in navigating the state into first-world status in just a couple of decades, to be honest. Sure, it did come at the cost of authoritarian rule, but for the most part, it wasn't abused the same way, say, Best Korea and the CCP do on the daily.

Is it sad that I'm kinda hoping it's even worse than that? The current globalist economy really needs to die already and be replaced by a system which has sufficient local base alongside the international trade, and that shit won't happen until governments get a real reason to stop being fucktards and Angela Merkel and Sarkozi either get yeeted out of office or really just do the world a favor and die already...

Ok I'm letting the salt flow but you get my point. Humanity only moves forward by hardship. And certain countries have been fucking the rest of us over because they fucking can thanks to china and africa. Every fucking year cats get poisoned, every year people eat food with varying degrees of pollutants, every year hypocritical "left wing" globalists exploit childslaves, every god damned year this shit gets worse. The economy NEEDS a crisis. It's the only way to unfuck it at this point. And the people NEED a reason strong enough to make sure that cesspool of corrup incompetent globalist fucktards are held accountable. So I know it sounds awful, but I hope this crashes and just keeps ok crashing for a while. I know I won't be hungry anytime soon...

Actually it won't. That's the funny thing about economics. The needs are still there. All that's going to happen is that "income" will shift. It will go elsewhere as new sources spin up. Such as Apple moving production to Taiwan. It's going to cost China $1.1Tn. But that $1.1Tn will go elsewhere. Rising other non China economies. There just may be a few months lag as that fully happens.

I should preface this by saying that I am no expert, I just got into a pissing match with a colleague about such things, and finding and arguing about research papers is considered vaguely entertaining in my autistic sphere.

To summarize very briefly, American production and R&D of agricultural products dominates all other countries capabilities in the world. Two situation tend to develop:

1. The country open/maintains free trade with the United States. This grants an immediate drop in the price of food, but can decimate traditional agricultural and farming practices on the grounds of pricing. Eventually many farms may modernize, but civil turmoil in those regions can result in the mean time. e.g. Mexico

2. The country closes down agricultural free trade with the United States. This gives a reprieve to local traditional farming communities, but will lessen modernizing forces and keep food prices higher. The result is a falling behind in all categories of agritech, but civil unrest is limited. e.g. Europe.

As to how they enforce this ban, as they do not want to come out and say that they cannot handle the economic competition. Everyone knows about the European agricultural and food safety commissions, but most do not know the exact though process they use.

First is a mostly rational safety review. It it safe to eat? Is it safe for the environment? Does it have any potentially nasty health effects somewhere in the processing of the product?

When all of those questions and more come back saying that it is safe (and it almost always is), it then moves into an "Economic Feasibility Study." Where in, one of the most important factors in deciding whether or not a product is "feasible" is the following tests:

1. The new product is put into a a series of test supermarkets. It is a new product, with little or no advertising for it. It has a giant GMO warning label put on it. The question is: do people buy this scarily labeled new product, or their usual standby?

2. General opinion polling about GMOs and the latest biotech. Is the public generally receptive to the general idea of these products?

When those two questions come back in the negatory, the product is declared "Economically Infeasible" and is therefore not allowed to be used.

I should not have to point out that the local agricultural lobbies and their associated government officials have a vested interest in maintaining this particular status quo.

This got far longer than I was intending it to be, sorry.

I got news for you all, this all might overflow a bit.

Bold is mine:

'Don't be kidnapped by China': Taiwan tells WHO in bid for separate virus tally

TAIPEI (Reuters) - Taiwan urged the World Health Organization on Tuesday not to be “kidnapped” by China, as more countries put travel curbs on its citizens because the health agency groups the island’s coronavirus cases with China in the battle on the outbreak.

Taiwan has reported just 22 cases, versus China’s figure of more than 72,400, but the self-ruled island shares the agency’s classification of China as “very high risk”, since the WHO considers Taiwan as part of China.

“Taiwan is not ruled by China and certainly should not be labeled as an infected area,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Joanne Ou told a news conference.

“We urge the WHO to be professional and neutral: Break away from China’s unreasonable claim. Don’t be kidnapped by China.”

Taipei is already in a war of words with Beijing over its exclusion from the WHO, because of objections by China, which considers Taiwan its own territory and has blocked the island’s membership in many international bodies.

Democratically governed Taiwan says it is an independent country called the Republic of China - its formal name - and has never been part of the People’s Republic of China.

Countries including El Salvador, Mongolia, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu have adopted travel curbs for arrivals who have visited Taiwan, while the island’s largest airline is covered by an Italian ban on flights from China.

Ou said Taiwan continued to press Italy to resume flights, adding that the WHO should immediately correct its “inappropriate label” for the island.

Taiwan has scrambled diplomats around the world to ensure no more flights are cut off because of the WHO classification.

In a rare diplomatic success, Taiwan managed to get Vietnam to lift a flight ban this month. Last week, the Philippines lifted a travel ban on visitors from Taiwan imposed to rein in the spread of the virus.

Virus outbreak: Canadian lawmakers challenge ICAO’s Taiwan stance
{No, Trudeau friends are still sucking China's cock. It is the opposition that has some semblance of a spine.}

Canadian Conservative Party lawmakers on Sunday challenged the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) over its exclusion of Taiwan.

Canadian Member of Parliament Michael Cooper reiterated in a Tweet that Taiwan is a sovereign state and challenged the ICAO’s characterization of the nation as a “province of China.”

“#ICAO this characterization is wrong. #Taiwan is NOT a province of China. TAIWAN is TAIWAN. Democratic & sovereign,” Cooper wrote.

In a session of parliament on Jan. 29, Cooper called on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to explicitly state the government’s position on Taiwan’s inclusion in international discussions about preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Trudeau responded by saying: “We support Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international multilateral forums. Especially when its presence provides important contributions to the global public good.”

Canadian Member of Parliament James Bezan tweeted: “Has the International Civil Aviation Organization been taken over by the Communist Party of China [CCP]? Hey @icao — get your facts straight! Taiwan is a thriving independent democracy.”

The ICAO, whose secretary-general is Liu Fang (柳芳) of China, has been blocking the Twitter accounts of anyone who expresses support for Taiwan and on Thursday referred to Taiwan as “[China’s] Taiwan Province” when tweeting about the spread of COVID-19.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called the ICAO an “accomplice” of China’s pressure campaign against Taiwan and asked it to correct its references to the nation.

It has also called on nations friendly to Taiwan to help it communicate with the ICAO, which has its headquarters in Montreal.

Canadian politicians began ramping up challenges to the ICAO’s stance on Taiwan after the organization continued to misrepresent the nation, despite Trudeau’s confirmation of his government’s support.

Canadian Member of Parliament Peter Kent in a tweet responded to Bezan’s question on whether China was influencing the ICAO.

“Short answer is yes. CCP has implanted officials who block legit Taiwan engagement in international aviation safety ... in the same way they have in other international fora,” Kent wrote.

Writing in French, Canadian Member of Parliament Steven Blaney tweeted: “The ICAO should recognize Canada for what it is, an autonomous entity, and not a province of China!”

Canadian Member of Parliament Pierre Paul-Hus tweeted: “Taiwan is Taiwan. Taipei FIR [flight information region] is controlled by Taiwan, which is a full-fledged democratic and sovereign country. Simple and clear.”

NEWS FROM THE FRONT:

My in-laws have been told that everything is fine and there is no longer any need to self-quarantine. Me and the missus have tried to persuade them to not leave the house, but they're fucking spergs, so of course they're not listening to us. To be fair, nobody is sick in their village and none of their family in the city proper have caught it, but I'm certain this is not over.

I'm not sure if the CCP is believing its own bullshit or what, but I suspect this shit is far from over.

In other news, I have a penicillin-resistant strain of strep. Had to go back to my family doctor to have him write me a new script for Keflex. As I was sitting in my doctor's office for the second time that week, I wonder how many coronavirus patients have done the same in the US or other nations. Caught it from a friend of a friend of a friend who traveled to Wuhan. My doctor never even bothered with testing for strep. Just had me open my mouth and went, "Yeah. That's strep."

I wonder how many people have gone to family doctors or urgent cares and dealt with an overworked PA or an old fella who doesn't rely on tests who just went, "Eh. Bad cold or the flu. Take this cough syrup. Drink fluids. Bye."
