Why do people watch tv shows such as Body Bizarre or One in a Million? Oddities will always interest people. And she seems to functions high enough that people can see her and think they are getting something reciprocal from it. And they may be she does respond it seems to simple requests.

Will say though she's not on the extreme low end of functioning in terms of services.

Saying "she should be reading a comic book" is kind of underselling how severe her autism is too, I'm sure Abby has a pretty high quality of life and they're able to provide her that kind of life by exploiting her autism.

I don't know what Body Bizarre or One in a Million are but I guess something equally sad/disturbing? My questions where mostly rhetorical, but you're right. People like oddities which I guess is kind of normal to a point. Humans a curious creatures. I just don't like it if it involves kids.

The only autistic child I know has moderate to high functioning so to me the girl seems extremely handicapped. But compared to the video you linked, yes, she seems to be better off. Definitely higher functioning than the boy in the video.
