Despite growing panic across the continent, EU health ministers agreed on Tuesday to keep international borders open for the time being. “Closing borders would be a disproportionate and ineffective measure at this time,” Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza told reporters after a meeting in Rome
This legit gets me Mad at the Internet. How the fuck is it disproportionate? YOU JUST ADMITTED YOU CAN'T TRACK IT ANYMORE!! Are you going to blame all this on the far right? We all need to coof and consoom together! Quarantines spread the disease of RACISM!!!

Any EU citizen that dies from the virus is easily replaced. Just keep working, comrade.

Could we not blatantly lie to try and score a political dunk in a way that could induce a panic, please? I really don't feel like that's much to ask, but some of these politicians are Hell-bent on using this shit as a fear tactic to try and scare people into voting the way that they want and it's fucking putrid.

Oh hi, Germany has three new cases in Baden-Wuerttemberg.
The girlfriend of the man from Baden-Wuerttemberg who has also been to Italy, her father and another woman who has also been to Italy. That's 22 cases. That is what you get for not imposing travel restrictions. The politicians are fucking crazy.

Someone I know is in on a study abroad trip Italy right now complaining about the cold he has right now and trying to hide it because he's scared people will think he has coronavirus. He's been on a lot of public transport all over Italy since January. Super crushed his whole group might get sent home and I had to explain that it's not "just the flu bro".

Been seeing that kinda shit everywhere today.
They can never let a good tragedy go to waste could they?
Absolutely disgusting.

I know he hasn’t cut funding yet for the CDC
I'm glad you agree with me.
In 2018, there were cuts to fighting global diseases and national health spending as well as cuts to the complex crisis fund. ($15 billion from the CDC, NSC DHS, HHS).
The temporary funding that was slated to run out in September of '19?
How would anti-Ebola funding have helped China stop COVID-19?
He 100% fired the entire pandemic response chain of command including the White House management infrastructure. That is not a lie and he’s screwed the US.
What dis then?

Chill with the derangement bro, you can't stop pandemics with international efforts and if you could it would be the job of The World Health Organization not the US CDC that half of the world thinks is a cover for the CIA.

He and his group need to go to the public health department and get tested. Or he should at least call a doctor and ask about it. Italy will (most likely) still exists after Corona is over but maybe he won't if he doesn't go to the doctor. If it's false alarm they can get a beer and laugh about it.

Had a couple thoughts this morning while walking. Please correct me if I am wrong on these.

Started this thread on 20 January. Today is 26 February. Been just recently, within the last week or so, that we've started to see cases in countries other than China. But the number of cases so far in these countries ranges from the single-digits to the low three-digits. So far less than 50 cases in the USA, and 40 came from the quarantined ship. The USA is geographically the same size as China, and there are about 335 million of us.

Am pretty sure there were Chinese with this virus running all over the world before all these cases started cropping up. Remember early on seeing one Chinese woman in Paris celebrating because she took meds to mask her fever. But am not aware of any cases resulting from any contact that woman had with anyone in France. Logically, least to me, there should be many more cases outside China than have been reported.

Have lived only in the USA and Korea. Here in the USA, the population density overall is much less than Korea or the more settled parts of China. In Korea, least when I was there many years ago, the only place you had US-style suburbs of single-family houses and duplexes, somewhat spread out, was on the big US Army base in Yongsan (Seoul). Most Koreans lived in compounds, where one or more residences were built around a central courtyard. Get to Seoul, started seeing groups of high-rise apartments, lots of them, and lots more being built. You see the same thing in China now. Chinese cities, and there are far more of them than anywhere but India, feature tons of high-rise apartment buildings, plus many smaller apartments cheek by jowl, and still Korean-style compounds. Seal these places up, just like on the cruise ship, and there's a great environment for catching and passing respiratory diseases. True, we have US cities, like SF and NYC, that are densely populated. But we have a lot of cities that are all spread out - LA, Houston, San Antonio, and many other cities, large and small.

My points - population density has a lot to do with catching this virus. And what I am seeing indicates this was indeed an engineered virus primarily aimed at Chinese. Mutations will occur that can affect others, but doesn't seem to be as virulent as what is present in China. In the USA, look for cases in some of the more densely populated areas, but having a lot of spread-out areas is going to be a big help. Europe is much more densely populated than the USA, but still not that many cases. Logically, there should be many more, a month-plus into this.

I don't know everything, but that's the conclusions based on what I've been seeing and what I know.

I agree. Also, since we know for a fact that a) most cases are mild and almost indistinguishable from common cold, and b) that this has been running around at least from the start of December last year, if not earlier, I think it's safe to assume that actually this virus is much more widespread than what is officially admitted. After all, no tests on general population have been conducted anywhere before the last week, and before China put the Wuhan on lockdown there was a very long time window for this to spread completely unnoticed.

I just assume that basically it's everywhere by now, and trying to avoid getting it is quite futile. Luckily most of the cases don't require intensive care and recover on their own.

The virus wasn't engineered against the Chinese, me thinks. I think it was already more aggressive toward them originally and it's mutated or was.modified so much, it simply became stronger. Not the same.

Now, because many of us live in the third world where prepping is not a thing, has anybody given a serious look at this:

Chloroquine Phosphate seems to be working somehow. And that shit is incredibly cheap here. The only problem is that is not available everywhere. Thoughts?

CDC recommends men shave their beards to protect against coronavirus

Face masks and respirators are being used around the world in an effort to combat the massive global spread of the deadly coronavirus.

The CDC cautions that facial hair can interfere with those devices.

A CDC infographic displays dozens of styles, showing which ones are compatible with masks and respirators.

Some types of facial hair can keep the exhalation valve from working properly, according to health officials.

Styles such as side whiskers, handlebar mustaches, and several others are okay, but styles such as mutton chops and full beards are not recommended.

Things like goatees and villain mustache are okay, with caution.

The main idea is that the hair should not cross the respirator sealing surface.

Take a look at the infographic below:

The cuts I mentioned were not the Ebola funds, they were completely separate from that. They weren’t temporary funds either. The Ebola funds weren’t removed, Trump had to walk that back after people called him out on it including Congress.

The CDC definitely can help mitigate risk to the US internationally from global diseases and we should be doing that because we have the resources. It clearly helped with Ebola why wouldn’t it help with coronavirus? The WHO can’t do it alone and we can aid the effort in preventing it from coming here by helping in other countries.

The coronavirus crisis team is not the same heads Trump cut back in 18’ nor is it the guy who Bolton forced to resign. They’re different positions that have not been back filled.

I get it, facts are hard for Trump and his followers but at least try to read up on what’s going on and how Trump has fucked us.
