News from Vermont, the State Department of Health has come to accept Corona-chan's inevitable visit to the Green Mountain State and prepares accordingly.
Here's hoping she doesn't like maple syrup, Cabot cheese, or craft beer.

Vermont health officials are preparing for the arrival of the coronavirus to Vermont, after the CDC announced Tuesday morning that the spread of the disease to the U.S. was “inevitable.”
“It’s getting harder and harder to say with a straight face that we can contain this virus to the countries where it’s already impacting people,” said Patsy Kelso, state epidemiologist with the Vermont Department of Health.
Kelso said health officials are focusing on trying to mitigate the virus’ impact once it does arrive in the state.

Vermont has monitored more than a dozen people for the virus, she said, though there are still no confirmed or suspected cases in the state.

She said Vermont has adopted a “self-monitoring with public health supervision” approach to watch those cases, wherein those being monitored are asked to take their temperature daily, and check in with health department officials three times a week by phone.

But Kelso said if the outbreak spreads to the United States, it will “definitely” reach Vermont.

“We’re probably less at risk than somewhere like New York City, where the population is bigger and there’s more people from all over the world,” she said. “But we’re not out of this by any means.”

At hospitals around the state, officials are preparing for exactly that scenario. Leaders at UVM Medical Center said Tuesday they’re feeling “pretty confident” in their ability to deal with the virus.

“We’re not taking anything for granted,” said Dawn LeBaron, vice president of Hospital Services for UVMMC. “But we’ve got our eye on it, we’ve got the right people involved, and you know, we’ll do a good job with it.”

LeBaron said the hospital has been screening patients’ travel histories and symptoms for about six weeks, ever since news first broke about the outbreak. She said the hospital also has groups and committees meeting regularly throughout that time to coordinate their approach.

The Health Department said it will continue working with the CDC to monitor the virus’ spread, to warn health care providers and the general public about prevention tips, and to be ready to roll out a vaccine, if and when it is developed.

LeBaron said the hospital has stocked up on masks, gowns, and equipment, and they’ve retrained staff about the safest ways to use those safety precautions.

But in general, LeBaron said, preparation for the coronavirus is “not tremendously different” from that of the flu.

“If you follow the basic protocols that you do for the flu, that’s a huge head start,” she said, emphasizing measures like regular handwashing, staying home if you’re sick, and wiping down frequently used surfaces.

Gene Richards, director of aviation at Burlington International Airport, said those same measures are what his industry has been doing to stop the spread of the disease. He said they wipe down the airport three times a day, and have nearly everything in their bathrooms totally hands-free for that very reason.

“We currently have 12-15,000 travellers here a week,” Richards said. “What we’re asking people to do is, if you’re sick, think about, ‘Do you really need to travel? Or can you stay home?”

He said they can’t do much about the actual movement of travellers to and from impacted countries, because it’s more of a “feeder” airport than a “hub.”

“It’s more than likely it won’t begin here,” Richards said. “But once it comes to the United States, then it will definitely become our issue.”

Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly identified the number of people being monitored for the virus by the state.

Outside China:

3566 confirmed / 54 dead / 283 recovered

just going to post the numbers from when I last posted them:

2-22-2020
1714 confirmed / 17 dead / 187 recovered
These don't look like bad numbers, other than the huge jump of numbers on 'confirmed'. They seem even with each other. Unless I'm seeing them wrong and they are bad.

Because while it is a global pandemic, the virus only really is bad if you have a weak immune system from what I can tell. It’s essentially just a flu but from Chinkland. The reason I’m thinking it was so bad there was the fact that chinks are worked so hard and live in such a bad environment, that the average Chinese citizen has an extremely compromised immune system versus the average person in the Western world

What @remiem said. Small PL, I lost a second cousin to pneumonia at 27 some years back. No prior medical conditions, just that his perma-night shift, stressful work at a call center (where your value/promotion/continued employment is measured by metrics) severely weakened his immune system. Well, maybe he smoked, too, to manage the stress, but if he did, he hid it from us. I imagine the front liners in disease management (i.e. doctors and nurses) have it even worse, not only being exposed to patients on the daily, they're also subject to long, stressful hours whenever an epidemic runs roughshod through a society. This is compounded even more if medical care ranks lower on a government's list of budgetary concerns. This 2018 article says that Iran needs 100k more nurses to have an acceptable nurse-to-bed ratio. We're seeing the same issues arise in China. Could be an issue in new hotspots popping up elsewhere and the system gets overwhelmed.

Sorry, just wanna ask what this means. I see it on posts you edit and it's got me curious. Not a big deal in any case, LOL.

I'm blaming my inability to use properly use English grammar, spelling and syntax on Black Russians.

chicago and minneapolis-st paul will get hit the hardest for demographic, population density, and sanitation reasons. maybe cleveland too but nobody will know because nobody gives a shit about you cleveland.
btw, not a bad time to buy up some real estate now in detroit in this upcoming recession. you could even ride out the pandemic there and probably be all right. yee haw.
How about the two Missouri cities?

The Dangers of the side flow of the šinkonchi
/ Mongolian industry needs to close asap!/
The churches of the South China has been announced that the South China's Republic of the new land, the new world) has been operating in China's uhan city until the 12th of the 12th month.

There were 200 believer in shinchonji church in uhan city, and they said that most of them are running in the end of korona disease in the end of 12 months, most of uhan city. In China, shinchonji believers are around 20,000 and they are living in big cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, darenʹ, sonyan.

But a woman who has been hidden from the name of the church of the church has started from 11 months, but it was not too much, and all the activities have returned to the land when all the activities closed in June.

The place where corona disease in South Korea is the state of tégu, gyeongbuk. In the middle of the city, the shinchonji church is considered the most distributed. This is because of 80 percent of 1,146 patients who have been approved by 80 percent or 677 people, and 267 people are sick. And 501 total of 1,146 people are in šinčonji church.

PS: one of 40 Korean people who announced himself to live in Christ Jesus, is the head of this flow of this flow. The Bible is a criminal against the society who preach the Bible and the family. More than 100,000 members in total. The most threat is that they can lie for their church, and it is so harmless when the symptoms of the disease is true...
At this time, covid19 has been ranks against the government who resolved the government who resolved to stop viral epidemic! This is a real fool!!!

Costco and Amazon are freaking the fuck out right now. There definitely will be shortages of consumer products due to this in a month or two. Just an example, those films for tide pods and dish packs come from China as do many of the raw materials used in the soaps. Same with plastics used in packaging etc. While p&g mfgers most of the products here many are not.

They probably have contingencies for alternative packaging, though.

Most men in China are smokers, so they're already prone to respiratory illness. Combine that with pollution and other health factors like hypertension or diabetus and you've got a recipe for serious illness.

Any reports of the Virus from India?

All Iv seen is that the India has brought back their nationals from the Plague Cruise Ship along with moving other countries nationals.

Also Facebook will be moving to eliminate false information regarding the Virus. This includes fake cures and 'conspiracy' theories. Wonder if this includes TCM and casting out Corona-Chan by balancing your Chi with powderd Beaver dicks.

Edit: spelling.
