Well it’s all over now. Get ready for 4 more years of trump because all the dem hopefuls blow. Not one decent moderate.

That’s what frustrates me about the democrats, they just refuse to let up on just a few issues that would assure them victory if they did.

It's too much of a ridiculous balancing act for Dems now with shit like how:

  • They can't go too hard on supporting gays because it could turn off the blacks
  • They can't support the Jews too much or it'll piss off the Muslims
  • They can't support the Muslims too much or it'll piss off the Jews
  • They can't support Americans too much or it'll piss off the illegals and globalists
  • They can't support socialism too much or it'll piss off the geriatrics
  • And so on
And when you move off the identity politics the only major thing they could rally around is healthcare, since they've essentially ceded the anti-war position to Trump by coming against pulling troops out of Syria and against infrastructure spending when Trump tried getting the ball rolling on that because it'd mean giving money for Trump's projects. You can still have them go back and forth and suggest they're the 'real' anti-war or pro-infrastructure spenders, but they've no progress on either of those fronts they could point to other than speeches at one of the million protests/rallies they've done which makes it all feel like empty rhetoric.

Yet even with healthcare the big solution being put forth is expanding Medicare and possibly taking away private insurance, which seems unlikely to work well as everyone would be asking where they'd get the money for it and when no serious answers come up it makes those pushing it sound like snake oil salesmen.

The biggest problem I see for the Dems right now is the rigid ideological conformity that the militant progressive wing of the party is demanding, and how that's really starting to turn off a decent chunk of people. If you're not 100% in lockstep with every plank of the platform, then you're effectively traitorous scum that will either be hounded and berated until you submit or ostracized if you still refuse. As the crazies like AOC keep grabbing hold of the wheel and steering the party off a cliff with unpopular proposals, there's a fair amount of people who are asking where the hell their party went.

Trans rights is by far the least palatable of these planks. Even if they don't want to admit it in public for fear of canceling, most people really don't like the idea of men in dresses taking over women's spaces, demolishing female sports records and demanding to be let into women's restrooms and changing rooms. Lesbians don't like being called TERFs because they don't want to take the troon D. And a lot of people, especially parents, particularly don't like how this shit is being pushed on actual children who have no idea what they're getting themselves into and are being led down a path of castration and mutilation. It's not like they don't have sympathy for people with these problems, they just don't want to drastically overhaul thousands of years of human civilization that separated the sexes in certain areas, because there are damn good reasons to keep that.

But now that trans rights are part of the platform, you either have to be on board with it or you're not welcome anymore. And you have to be in favor of abortion at any time, even if you have religious or moral objections to the practice. And you have to demand socialism, even if you just want better oversight instead of complete government control. And you have to want "hate speech" curtailed even if you're a free speech absolutist, and you must want gun control even if you're pro-Second Amendment, and so on and so on.

I feel that it isn't a stretch to say that there are some Dems who reach a point where there's one too many things they're being told they must support, which makes them question if they can continue to support the party as a whole. I've definitely seen the "I didn't leave the party, the party left me" line more than once. Obviously I can't say for sure how many people are having this problem, but it could end up being an issue for the Dems in the long run if they don't wrangle their speds sooner.

its still going

im curious as to why sometimes one of these "trends" on the "trending" tab lack the tweet counter these other "trends" here do.
Twitter adds its own curated trending tweets to change discourse, and they usually try to hide how many organic tweets it has. They used to show them but they'd be less than 1000 or even less than 500 tweets and it was painfully obvious how rigged it was.

Live from CPAC! They're not sending their best!
He showed up during Pence's speech and was carrying a fellow protestor as a prop. Started yelling "You are not God" at Pence when security surrounded him.

I need a little more context. Why the hell was he yelling at milktoast pence? Like maybe if it was Trump but neither have likened themselves to god or to being a god.

Honestly, he was literally right behind me and I have as much context as you do. It was during a "four more years" chant, so it wasn't just at Pence alone.

It's clear these protesters are just there to disrupt speeches. Like that incoherent against Biden during that one debate. When you're watching online, it's utterly impotent, but in person it is fairly effective and leaves you distracted for a good while. Pence completely ignored it though.

Edit: Upon reflection, earlier speakers alluded to Trump being sent by God to save the GOP. I'm sure the TES thread would get a kick out of that. Probably what the protester was reeing about, though.

I dont get it, this dumb screamings at Pence are going to achieve something .... where? the Republicans are going to be more united to hush the lunatics out of power, the Democrats are just going to give gold points on the internet and the centrist and silent majority are just going to see a couple of mental patients running wild on the streets and go to Trump

Do they want four more years of Trump that badly?

It is almost ... as if ... Diversity is not really their strength? That c-c-can't be right?

There is nothing special about you. There is nothing unique about you. There is nothing you do that sets you apart from any other schmuck performing any other job. You don't need to be licensed, you don't need to be tested, you don't need to adhere to a code of ethics and most of the time are subject to no disciplinary actions regardless of how many people you endanger with outright lies. It takes no credentials or intelligence at all to become a journalist.

You're nothing but a talking head who regurgitates the opinions of the ink-shitters, and you deserve no special treatments nor do you deserve to be immune from criticism. All of this would still be true if you were actually a journalist, but in actuality you're nothing more than a political activist with an ego almost as big as your face.

You are, at best, an entertainer, and given the state of your ratings, you aren't even good at your job.

She can come back to me when she starts defending people like Crowder or Andy Ngo.

TES is too busy sniffing their own farts to even do what their thread was made for, such low energy.
Many such cases. Sad!

It might not be the right thread to post it, but six Democrats quit the Democratic party to join the Republican Party. I think some Dems feel the "Bern" and left while the Democrat ship is sinking.

Why is this shocking? It's in Mississippi. If it was say a "purple" state like Florida or even a light blue state, then it would be interesting.

You know what? I’m not even gonna look. I’m just gonna share this and move on.
