Saw an eviction yesterday.

"Wondered if the tenants would come back and get their things, and if someone would help themselves to those items in the meantime"
If they left things out there then they meant for it to be taken by people

Guess they want someone to get the bed headboard, footboard and box spring. You'd think they might have wanted those. The fan might be worth taking. Will see how much is gone when I walk by there tomorrow.

Now that it's been rained on, I highly doubt someone would take any of it.

Went by there this morning. Side gate to tiny yard open. Went in. All sorts of junk there. Looked through back window. Caught a glimpse of front room, looks trashed. An apparent friend of the people evicted asked me if I wanted anything. Declined, with thanks. Imagine the landlord will clean and fix the place this week.

I hear that in some states the police carry out evictions the same way they would busting into the house of a suspected murder, drug dealer, or terrorist.

Go check out a channel on Youtube called The Shea Show (google The Shea Show evictions). Big black man who manages property in Detroit. Films evictions, chases people he hires who never show up to work, etc. Some can be hard to find because he puts a lot of personal stuff on his channel, but when he's rolling around armed with his drunk cameraman Dave, it's hilarious.
Here's one video.

I used to live somewhere where winters can get as cold as -35 or -40 in a regular basis. If you evicted someone in Winter and they had no where to go, they could actually die. In places like that, it should be illegal to evict people in winter if they do not have prior arrangement. People have actually died from landlord cruelty there.

It is illegal to evict in winter here. You can't disconnect the utilities either. Your stuck paying for a deadbeat. My grandpa got burned on that one winter on a rental property.

The trick is to get in on a evicted property and offer to clean the place up for first months rent free. And photograph everything. Every damn little thing. Because a landlord willing to make such a deal is generally as scummy as the previous tenants.

Why does anyone live in cities?

I want to leave so bad. But I am stuck forever.

My family was evicted when I was nine. After the divorce my mom just couldn't make the mortgage anymore. And then the house we moved into got sold and we had to move again. Seems the guy that the landlord employed to collect the rents took all the money and fucked off to Florida. So the owner had to sell a bunch of properties fast.

I had to leave my late stepather's home last year due to not being able to cover all the bills myself. My sister got heavy into drugs and installed her boyfriend in the house. They stole from and terrorized me for a year. I realise now I should have done more than I did. But it was just really abusive and under those circumstances you cannot think clearly.

Rent in Philly is crazy high. I can't afford it at all on my own and no one wants a dog anyway. All the places I could afford were no pets.
