James Arthur Watkins a/k/a "Jim Watkins" vs. Fredrick Robert Brennan (2019) - Libel tort in the Republic of the Philippines.

I do wonder if this outstanding arrest warrant will affect any applications to stay in those other countries Null mentioned? I don't think the glass goblin will spend any time in a pinoy jail, at the same time, I have a feeling it might impact applications into other countries. I think Watkins can go get his naturalisation without any interference from this morally righteous crusader. Can't show up to court to interfere with it if there is an arrest warrant for you when you land.
The most recent news I read makes it sound like he may come back if he can get the case dismissed. To be honest though after trying to make a big deal about how this case is some kind of precedent I'd be more worried about the possibility of being labeled a troublemaker by Duterte administration than a a pig farmer's grudge.
hi friend. I'm here on a 13a. I like your shit talking, who taught you?

Fredrick can say "I love the Philippines" in taglish, that's about the extent of his learning.
I dunno there is an interview of cp with Rappler where the whole time he is speaking with a phony Filipino accent that just cracks me tf up.

Yeah, Duterte and his government are not a group you want to fuck with. People joke about right wing death squads. He's actually done it. I think he should just leave it and find somewhere else if he can. Good luck overturning an arrest warrant there.

Probably not directly and probably not outside of some Asian shithole countries. I doubt anyone would bother arresting him on their own initiative. He might want to stay out of anywhere where the cops could be bribed to kidnap "extradite" him.

The constitutionality of the provision on cyber libel was subsequently assailed in Disini v. Secretary of Justice (G.R. 203335, 11 February 2014). The Supreme Court (SC), however, ruled that libel is not a constitutionally protected speech. It follows, therefore, the cyber libel is not unconstitutional as well.

The Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 does not really define cyber libel. It penalizes libel, as defined under the Revised Penal Code, but imposes a higher penalty because of the use of information and communication technologies. In Disini, the SC explained this qualifying circumstance arises from the fact that in “using the technology in question, the offender often evades identification and is able to reach far more victims or cause greater harm.”

The elements of libel are the allegation of a discreditable act or condition concerning another; publication of the charge; identity of the person defamed, and existence of malice.

So, according to this, it must have been all those articles Fredrick put out saying Jim enabled mass shooters.

When committed through information and communication technologies, libel becomes cyber libel, which carries with it a higher penalty by one degree under Section 6 of the Cybercrime Prevention Act. Specifically, libel under the Revised Penal Code is punished with prision correccional in its minimum period, which is from six months and one day to two years and four months and medium period, which is from two years, four months and one day to four years and two months; or a fine ranging from P200 to P6,000 or both.

Because, as you can see here, the 'cyber' element of libel implies it was done electronically.

I don't care about lil butterball Fredrick but I'm glad to hear he was yeeted out of the country before the pig farmers bribes reached the right people. Depending on how much he would've paid the local bumfucks he may have not been heard from again. Is he just gonna stay in the US now or there anything he can do to reenter philippines and get his wife?

There are probably countries in Oceania he could go without problems. Whether he'd be willing to live in those countries is a different question entirely.

How can you look at these results and not realize that obviously Jim's bribes did reach the right people? Pretty sure that even in the Philippines, they don't ordinarily throw anyone who calls an old man senile into prison for 16 years.

Anyone with enough money can arrange for you to have problems if they want to.

I give him less than 30 days till he gets on some form of main stream media and spouts that he's being persecuted and playing the Cripple Card.
He has already talked to Vice and will he on the qanon anonymous podcast. I'm sure he is already digging for bigger limelight to soak in though.

As far as bribes go I'm still wondering if cp paid someone off in order to get advance warning. He was silent for 4 days before popping up in the US. That's not characteristic of him. He knew to keep his head down till the dust settled somehow.

This is a given. The man has wealth, he's not a complete sped, he's clever but wildly naive.

The easiest explanation was that there was a notice of some sort to appear in court on X day sent to his lawyer, vague but not outside the realm of possibility. He's got cash so for him to take a trip outside the country, I don't think there was a travel ban placed on him, at a moment's notice was probably a non-issue. Either way he either was acquitted or ordered to jail he's in the states to celebrate or hide out he is free to do as he pleases.

There is no chance in hell he will go back to the Philippines until the order to toss his ass in jail is rescinded and his lawyer has it in hand and will meet him at the airport to make sure he doesn't get murderhobo'd by Watkins.

I feel a little bad for constantly saying that he is the actual owner of kiwi farms and an international terrorist. I made a joke about him getting arrested like 3 days ago. The good news is that his is roughly the size of the average Philippino so the jail cell won’t be comically large.

I don't think he was saying that the bribes didn't get there. He's saying Hotwheels got out before that took effect.
I wouldn't be surprised if Jim didn't pay enough for him to actually get arrested, since life in a Pinoy prison could very well kill Hotwheels and I don't think that would be cheap, but enough for a warrant and a "stay the fuck out of the Phillipines" tip off.

Also possible. I don't know how it works. I don't abuse the shitty laws of fucked up countries to oppress people who I'm MATI about.

The flips don't want a dead (white American) cripple on their hands. It would be bad optics even for dumbfuck Duterte. Also he probably has no problems with Nazi mass shootings anyway.
