Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Another one in Austria, the third province to be affected (Tyrol, Vienna and now Styria), no details yet:

The first coronavirus case in Styria was confirmed late Friday evening, the seventh in Austria. It is said to be a woman who was recently on vacation in Italy, but no further information has been released for the time being.

The American system is probably the least prepared out of all of the western countries. The insurance bureaucracy and high cost of going to the doctor + the lack of safety nets means people will work when sick because they have to and not go to the doctor.

I can see the coronavirus forcing a shift in the view on healthcare. Eisenhour's ww2 experience was the basis for his belief in investing in infrastructure and Teddy had the panama canal built based on Mahan's naval theories.

Public healthcare reduces the costs and gets more people to go to the doctor.

I wouldn't put that so much on the healthcare system as the economic system. At least in my experience even if you have the money you avoid going to see the doctor because of the cost in time. You get very little time off work, most unpaid that you can't afford to take off, and you don't want to wast what little free time you have after work waiting at a doctors. I said it earlier the U.S. may suffer more because low wage workers can't work from home and won't be allowed to go into quarantine. People will still need to consume and the last thing we need is an asymptomatic Mc.donalds employee coofing on the hamburgers.

The bigger issue we will be facing is the shortage of almost all medical supplies needed to deal with Corona chan because we get a majority of them from china. I mean right now were fine but once cases start rolling in we'll start to run low on anti-virals and anti-biotics. Both have a majority comming from china not to mention shit like insulin or daily medications. I think that will be a problem way before the cost becomes an issue.

Wow, now it seems no numbers can be trusted. It really, really shows that people want this comfortable life forever. No conflict, no strife, just endless arguing about bullshit and censoring people to the point where you can't say 'women don't have penises' will get you prison time. And now that we have something real coming down the pipe, "Its just a flu bro" and "Naw, don't worry".

I'd like to remind people we're just beginning. If this was a hurricane, it just hit the edge of Puerto Rico. It hasn't even ramped up yet. We're looking at known facts:
  1. An incubation period of 14 to 24+ days, likely indicating multiple strains with varying lethality, incubation and infection, which is causing this chaos
  2. Multiple vectors of infection, including airborne, urine as well as fecal
  3. No testing on any sort of mass scale has begun
  4. The numbers are certainly unknown and we are 100% being lied to.
  5. It has probably ravaged China to a degree that is unseen for a disease in modern history in an industrialized nation. Them turning production back on is a desperation move to prop up a fake and ravaged economy. They're not even bothering to report numbers with any certainty anymore. If they're cutting down infection, they are simply killing people and rolling them into mass graves or cremating them.
  6. People are treating this casually and still spreading it around because they're consummate narcissists
  7. Governments are all blatantly lying to try to preserve any economic damage before it really explodes.
All this shit about vaccines: All of these are extremely rushed products. I guarantee this is what they're doing: they're heat shocking corona and inactivating it, pumping it full of preservatives, estimating the doses and grabbing mice out of their cages and just pumping them full of this shit at various doses and then exposing them to corona for two weeks to see if they up and die. No other way this shit is human trial ready in a month.

100% People are flipping them. But you shouldn't buy a mask. Buy a respirator with two cartridges. They last you six months and are reusable. Just disinfect by spraying with alcohol.

Again, do not buy masks. At this stage, if it lasts a month you need to change the mask constantly. You just need to disinfect a respirator.

Bacteriophages as antibiotics were being looked at for a long time.

Total bullshit.

I remember them going early on 'lol no it doesn't cause a cytokine storm'

Me: "I bet it causes a cytokine storm"

Now: "It causes a cytokine storm"

Nigger, its a pneumatic lung infection, how do you not see that shit coming?

You're fully underestimating human immune response. A majority of the time its the human immune response that kills us. Our system over responds, increases inflammation, floods our lungs with fluid and drowns us. A cytokine storm is a direct immune response to us freaking the ever-living fuck out and basically going on a school shooting rampage by blowing holes in literally everything, allowing for multiple secondary infections and just killing us very quickly.

The human immune response is amazing, good, but it will also kill the living fuck out of you very quickly. A fever is an immune response. You have to remember the immune response follows chemical modulators. It doesn't know its reactions are killing you and generally doesn't modulate fast enough to save your ass. Most drugs we take (steroids, anti-inflammatories) respond directly to the response of our immune system to modulate it. Steroids crush the immune response because it is actively killing you. We are not expertly designed machines that can ramp up and slow down on a whim. Our immune system was designed by random chance and it shows. While it is brilliant, it is a supremely imperfect system.

The basic principles of pharmacology rely on: 1) Assisting our immune system and 2) Modulating it.

To go, "Oh yeah, our immune system will handle it" when you basically have a mass over-reaction, uncontrolled inflammation and fever and then you fucking die because of it, your immune system did handle it, by fucking murdering you.

The kits are ludicrously expensive and who the hell knows how quickly they're put together.

More than likely we're going to start seeing explosions of clusters thanks to the 24 day incubation period. Re-infection is possibly more lethal, but will be less dangerous in the US than in China.

I mean, mutated strains might mutate up or down. Its too early to really predict as we're still in the start phase of this shit-show.
This my boss only got 5 test kits 1 was used on me. We're in Oregon and it's unnerving being on top of California; Its spooking me so I may have to go to my cabin in Appalachia or perhaps go to my vacation home in savvanah. Fuck it Greenland here I come.

A bigger problem is we have people so stupid they think "going to the doctor" in a pandemic is good or useful.
If it's not that bad stay the fuck home and avoid spreading it around, if it's bad go directly to the hospital where they can't refuse treatment due to inability to pay.

I'm starting to suspect that these "test kits" are just some retard in a lab coat shaking a Magic 8-Ball at the patients.

Well you're not fucking far off. Check out myles power's videos on mms fraud to know why. There's actually 2 tests, typically one is used for screening and the other actual diagnosis. Over here they've been using both, as in, once the screening gives negative you won't be discharged from the hospital until the actual test confirms it. Reason for all these false negatives is because for some fucking reason instead of following the 1918 protocol most countries have deciddd to do the screening and then preemptively free the infected while waiting for confirmation. Which is so retarded it makes me question why spain's the only country who actually bothered reading the fucking protocol we did because of the last shit hit the fan which details why and how it hits fans and how to stop it!

In 1918 immigrants had to go through Ellis Island and people were afraid of disease.
Which is a good thing, because that's the survival instinct just working plus they're in a new place, not overblown paranoia. This? People just want to ignore safety to be coddled, be fat and comfortable with their lives, and so on.
Just now, my state got the virus. He's from Iran. He traveled by mini-bus with other 12 passengers. I'm so disappointed.
EDIT: There's also a family who's in Wuhan to work wanting to go back to the state. But my state's officials are basically going "stay the fuck in there, we don't want to risk spreading" to the couple. Couple threw a tantrum and started a GoFundMe anyway. I'm guessing the Iran guy slipped past from how relentless the state is pushing the quarantine.
EDIT 2: Oh my god, they actually got out by flying to Korea, then to Florida, then here. I can't believe this shit and the people that donated to them.

Here's an article from ABC News about Michael Bloomberg using the Coronavirus to get votes.

— Bloomberg campaign ad

And here's the ad:

This is the lowest thing I've seen him do. The fact that he's using this to get votes just pisses me off.
This is Brazilian-level of political campaigns, lmao.

Virus infects bacteria, lives in guts indefinitely:

What a year...

Saw this while playing catch up, but if this is 100% factual, you know what? That might explain the diarrhea symptoms, even though only some people get that symptom. Should doctors start swabbing the rectum now in tandem with the lungs?

Could you please not infect any of the south? Pretty please with tard cum on top?

Second case confirmed in California. No known link or travel history. (Personally big doubt because everyone and their mom has been traveling since the virus)
Another day passes , another disease spreading around in Cali.
EDIT: Ninja'd fuck you fuck you foot icon reee

Oh, I just saw there's an official statement made by the LDS church since it's been brought up a couple times. They should be making updates up to the April General Conference where I'm sure it'll be addressed--Italy and most of Europe may be next on the list if it continues to spread.

The Church has released the following statement:
Recent concern regarding the COVID-19 (coronavirus) has generated much public attention and has caused significant change in travel, personal interactions and in guidelines prescribed by health officials for how to address the growing concern.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been carefully monitoring these developments and is taking steps in several areas to provide assistance, help missionaries be safe and effective, address concerns regarding member safety and plan for upcoming events. These steps are being taken to comply with best practices or direction provided by the public health organizations of various national governments.
Missionary Work

The Church is taking steps to reduce the number of missionaries in areas where the virus is of particular concern. These steps will give mission presidents more flexibility to ensure missionaries are effective and safe and that there is adequate space to house missionaries if they are moved out of cities where there are greater concerns about infection.

These steps apply to the following missions:
  • Cambodia Phnom Penh Mission
  • Japan Fukuoka Mission
  • Japan Kobe Mission
  • Japan Nagoya Mission
  • Japan Sapporo Mission
  • Japan Tokyo North Mission
  • Japan Tokyo South Mission
  • Korea Busan Mission
  • Korea Seoul Mission
  • Korea Seoul South Mission
  • Mongolia Ulaanbaatar Mission
  • Singapore Mission
  • Thailand Bangkok Mission
Cambodia, Korea, Singapore, Thailand: All prospective missionaries preparing to serve in these missions or who come from those countries will either postpone their start date or receive a temporary assignment. Additionally, all missionaries currently serving in these missions who are nearing the end of their service will return home early. All senior missionaries and any young missionaries with chronic health problems will also return home or be temporarily reassigned to a mission in their home countries. Some senior missionaries will continue to support the mission remotely.

Japan: All missionaries preparing to serve in Japan will either postpone their start date or receive new temporary assignments.

Mongolia: All missionaries who are not native to Mongolia will be temporarily transferred from that country. Those who are nearing their scheduled release date will return home early, while the rest will receive new temporary assignments.

Each missionary who returns home will be asked to self-isolate for 14 days following instructions from the World Health Organization and the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Missionaries who remain in those countries will take precautions to stay healthy, including staying in their apartments as much as possible, avoiding personal interaction with other people and teaching through phone calls or other technology.

All missionaries, regardless of where they are serving, have been reminded to follow basic preventative health practices to avoid illness. It is important to note that young missionaries are not generally considered to be at risk for serious complications from the coronavirus.

Temple Worship

Several temples have been closed because of concern for the workers and patrons. A large number of temple workers and patrons are from an older demographic, which has a higher susceptibility to complications from the coronavirus. These closures are in accordance with the recommendations of local public health agencies. The following temples have been temporarily closed:
  • Taipei Taiwan Temple
  • Seoul Korea Temple
  • Fukuoka Japan Temple
  • Sapporo Japan Temple
  • Hong Kong China Temple (Previously closed for renovation)
  • Tokyo Japan Temple (Previously closed for renovation)

Worship Services

Under the direction of Area Presidencies, some regions have limited or temporarily suspended member gatherings, including Sunday worship. These locations include the following:
  • Hong Kong
  • Mongolia
  • Korea
  • Japan
This has included shortened Sunday worship in some areas (sacrament meeting only) or canceling of worship services in others. In circumstances where members are unable to gather for worship, they learn, teach and partake of the sacrament as families, as guided by local priesthood leaders.

General Conference

In a recent announcement to all Church members, the First Presidency has provided new guidelines for participation in General Conference.

Providing Aid

Since its initial donation of medical masks, goggles and gowns to China, the Church has received numerous requests for similar assistance. Those requests are being evaluated and addressed as the Church is able to do so, although our ability to supply and deliver those products is limited by a global demand for such resources.

Summary

We are grateful for the many expressions of support and concern that have been shared. The Church will continue to follow developments closely and make any further adjustments as needed. We continue to pray for all those impacted by the virus.

So looks like future mission calls to infected countries are going to be put on hold for the time being. Missionary work has increased in recent years, though some new up-coming missionaries might be becoming wary since a missionary doesn't know where they're going until they get the letter.

I know I'm working the wrong crowd for details but what the hell do they think was done wrong? The response was a little low-key but it wasn't out of line with everyone else.
Well a lot of them are being hypocritical in the sense that that the response was too low-key (I remember a week ago a some of the same people now calling for stricter measures crying about racism).
However, regardless of their hypocrisy the argument itself is still correct and the withholding of information is even worse. I think Trump was way too weak on this, he should have shut down flights to china the second it became clear what was happening and he should unchain the CDC already.

Another case in California confirmed of unknown origin, #2 that we know about.

At this point I'm assuming "unknown origins" are people getting infected by undetected people who carry the virus.

I really miss the days when the Twitter trending topics were informative updates on the virus. Now it's just posts about Donald Trump.

Don't go to Savannah, they're gonna get fucked after St Pats

I am wondering if heat will change things. Right now California is slowly getting hotter and in the next few months is when the weather gets ridiculously hot. April is usually the start of the hot weather, and then it gets hotter. Recently there was a record breaking temperature in the mid 80's. Parts of Los Angeles gets overwhelmingly hot and humid. San Francisco I'm not sure about considering most of it is near the ocean.
It'll either change things, or maybe it won't. I guess time will tell.
