James Arthur Watkins a/k/a "Jim Watkins" vs. Fredrick Robert Brennan (2019) - Libel tort in the Republic of the Philippines.

Considering the pinoy government decided to just start openly murdering suspected drug users, I don't think legal precedence is as big a deal there as it might be in a real country.

DU30 was mayor for the past 20 years in Davao before becoming president. There's a reason Davao is the safest and cleanest city in this shithole country. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davao_Death_Squad

The killings have been going on for a long time - it's just that before he took office to be President it was more widely broadcast to the world. He told everyone he would reward cops for executing drug dealers and pushers.

He is loved by the people and hated by the establishment. Philippines is a corrupt hell hole and Duterte wasnt 'one of them'

the libel laws exist because this entire country runs on gossip. Everyone makes shit up about everyone else, everyone has a crabs in a bucket mentality and they are all given free access to Facebook and Messenger

I thought HW was (crypto)rich? Is bitcoin not real money?
I doubt he's broke and in dire need of money, but what he has won't last long in US even if he is. Say Hotwheels has half a mil or a a mil in crypto. I have no idea, he might have more. The cost of living and medical care in the US is way fucking higher than the Philippines. He's burning his retirement crypto every day he spends in the US. How long will it take him to find a suitable place overseas again? He no longer has bar whore to wipe his ass. $250 a day for nursing care is $90k a year. If Hotwheels is truly living in a hotel then that's probably $100ish or more a day unless he's staying in meth lab territory. He should get a month long Air BnB rental or something while he finds a place to live. It'll be way cheaper. Living in the US isn't sustainable with no income and I would be surprised if he's working right now. Is he still able to work? I haven't kept up on his current condition.

he gets SSDI. Which is enough to cover you to live in third world countries easily and pay for someone to wipe your ass 24/7. It's not enough to live comfortably in the USA.

The ONLY PLACE. There's ONLY ONE country where Fredrick can live comfortable with hundreds of thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency. There's no way he can't go to Ukraine (he's an ethnic Ukrainian), Brazil, Vietnam. That's just not possible. The long arm of the Philippines will chase him everywhere he goes!

Fredrick was truly fucking awful to me but anti-speech laws are fucking bullshit and the Philippines, a land of Indonesian-Spanish-Japanese-American rape babies, most well known for being under the political control of a fucking cult that worships a chinky Jim Jones, can suck my ass.

He's not welcome in Brazil, I have that on good authority. For one, not every place has a disabled person's ramp, here, second, I think he'd die instantly the moment a dengue fever mosquito bit him, and thirdly, he'd need to buy health insurance ASAP. Oh, and he needs to acquire for himself a visa that is work or business related, and neither are easy to do if you are not standing inside a consulate or embassy. The reason for this being the stupid U.S. Government policy regarding Brazilians and visa requests.

On the other hand, let me shed light on a few things. Capacity in Civil Law countries determines whether you can do such things as requesting for citizenship, doing business, signing contracts, giving guarantees to take loans, et cetera. Declaring someone senile, in civil law, is tantamount to saying the person cannot in good faith celebrate contracts and do such things as their citizenship would entail, or even request for citizenship.

I won't defend Watkins for what's obviously a vendetta counterplay, but let me be pretty clear here: I think the Philippines judge likely saw it as a crime BECAUSE it is a statement against someone's legal capacity made in mala fides with the explicit intent to tarnish their reputation in such a way as to imply they cannot function in society unsupervised. It is the only possible legal reason for this indictment. I don't think the Flip government cares about two foreigners squabbling.

You are an absolute fucking moron if you think Brazil is any less handicap accessible than the Philippines.

I don't think you guys understand. He had to bitch out his own building he lived in to build ramps. He would intentionally patronize buildings that built their own ramps. For every place else, the store owners would literally come out and lift his chair up. When I walked with him, I would have to do the same, his aide would do it if I wasn't there, but he liked going places with me because I would literally stand in front of the wheelchair with my elbows buckled out and just walk through people like Moses parting the sea of brown in front of me so my cripple can make it through.

oh no not private health insurance for travelers what an irreconcilable expense that every country in the world with socialized medicine requires of american expats.

I know very well what a tort is and I know how defamation laws work and what constitutes a defamatory tort, thank you very much. This is not civil law, this is criminal law. The Government of the Republic of the Philippines, at the direct behest of a bombastic rich old man, has accused Fredrick Brennan of a criminal offense for saying he is senile.

I don't care what their justification is and as far as I'm concerned the claim is true. Jim Watkins is completely irrational and unreliable. He is a bipolar maniac who flips between happy and furious without any warning signs and is an active detriment to himself, his company, his employees, and his family every time he takes the initiative to make decisions. The only "good" things you see coming out of 8chan today are the direct result of Ron Watkins taking the reigns.

You're differentiating between fields of the law. I am speaking strictly of Civil vs Common Law, legal systems themselves.

Stop telling Brazilians how Brazil is like when you clearly have no fucking idea. The sidewalks in some more affordable towns are in no fucking way regular. One house might have a flat sidewalk, the other will have it at a foot taller than the last because the foundation on the lot is different and the municipal governments will not regulate that.

Not every fucking building has ramps, either, even though it's been driven home into law that this is a necessity. I can't stress this enough -- the ramps mean fuck all because the sidewalks themselves are this monumental hurdle for people who walk normally, let alone people who have to live their day to day in wheelchairs and carry walking sticks or supports around or whatever. It's absolute hell. That said, there are small towns he COULD live in, but that would preclude his internet access by quite a bit. Mostly in Minas Gerais.

Have you ever been to the Philippines you dense motherfucker? Do you think there's something special about there that makes the sidewalks even? I'll give you a hint

VERY POOR

I looked at street views for 10 different places in Curitiba and they all have sidewalks. Guess what that means? He can go around just fine. Even if they're uneven cobblestone, he has a $5000 wheelchair paid for by the US Government with big rubber wheels that let him go over them just fine. "but curitiba is an expensive place" money is not a problem, curitiba is easily affordable.

there is absolutely nothing keeping him off these sidewalks, the philippines is not special, and you all griping that whatever shithole country you're from doesn't have fucking sidewalks can ram it up your ass.

even if the sidewalks were made of a magic cripple repellent you seem to think they are, he can go on asphalt just fine. if there was no sidewalk (and many times there weren't!), or the sidewalk was narrow, or flip fucks were just standing there blocking it, it was easy just to go off the sidewalk and go alongside it. he's not on fucking cripple rails.

there's a whole world of crip-scooting accessibility here you're just blind to, especially with an aide.

Yeah, fair point, he can go on Asphalt, in the South. God forbid he does that in any other region, though, he'll be Roadkill, not Hotwheels.

Curitiba is arguably more affordable than São Paulo, but if you're going to live South, why the fuck aren't you going to Florianópolis?

Yeah but the Phillippines is full of Filipinos. That's a heckin big yikes from me dog.

So his plan is to remain in the US and live off welfare payments and e-begging.
Every midly succesful tech bro is a libertarian until the tugboat :tugboat: starts flowing in, either as corporate welfare (such as subsidies) or, in this situation, literal welfare.
To understand this you've to understand the moral egoist mindset that libertarians have, why create wealth when it's easier to have a rent-seeking behavior?

He's an e-celeb in 2020, of course he's going to beg.
