I am not saying they would not get cases, but my shitpost was only half a joke. If they got cheap labor, no environmental or worker protection and take over China's role, while having only milder cases due to healthy diet and a super drilled immune system, India could benefit a lot from this.

Personal Anecdote: Every Walmart in Boise is out of conventional disinfectants.

Get some denatured alcohol and cut it with a bit of water to get it to around an 80% alcohol solution.

That's about as effective as normal disinfectants/sanitisers against viruses. Just lacks stuff to keep skin from drying out and to kill bacterial spores.

I'm not worried, Fred Meyer had bleach. I prefer vinegar.

Costco Report from a large Aussie city: business as usual. Maybe slightly busier for a Monday morning, but fucking heaps of water, canned goods, toilet paper, cleaning supplies (I didn't check hand sanitisers though - assumed they'd be out and bought plenty on my last trip). Not heaps of fresh produce, but I imagine the weekend rush is responsible for that. Bearing in mind our Costcos are generally a bit smaller/less stocked than the US.

All of the above goods apparently were BTFOd in major supermarkets over the weekend as people panic bought. Meh. That'll ease off as people start to see the local supply chain is still working reasonably well. *Side note: since fucking when did Jack Links have 9g of carbs /serve in their jerky sticks? The fuck? Making the trek out to 'Little Joburg' tomorrow for biltong, fuck that noise.

What I will say is that if community spread is as wide and undetected as we fear, well after this morning I'm fucked. The Costco makeup was 70% Chinese, 20% middle eastern, 10% everyone else (pretty standard for the area). The general level of piss poor hygiene was appalling. Aside from the uncovered coughing and total disregard for personal space... things like disinfectant wipes for trolley handles - that's not standard practice here. But you'd think you might wanna bring that in, along with, I don't know some hand sanitiser available at entry/exit? Luckily I had a small pack of wipes in my purse, I even shared because #GoodHuman (#MaybeAnIdiot).
I did note that my checkout guys both had their own hand sani and cleansed after every customer. Appreciated.
what flavor of jack links? because sugar is used in some jerky marinades. like teriyaki.

Okay so news has probably gotten out about Norcal having more cases pop up and people panic buying. I went to a store before closing to see the damage. People bought all the hand sanitizer, some cold relief stuff, some bread, all the berry fruits, and a bunch of soda and sparkling water. All the important stuff was still there such as meats, lentils, canned goods, dairy products, water (all kinds outside sparkling) soaps, bleach, and ingredients to make soups and bread.

We all know the news is mostly wrong and focuses on fearmongering. I have night-of confirmation that at least one store is fine here. People aren't buying things that last, only things that bring comfort or relief. I feel confident saying most nicer grocery stores will be the same.

Original - 9g in the 'sticks' and 7g in the regular jerky. Like we'll eat it, but damn.

I should learn to make my own... sounds nuts but I love that kind of shit.
Yeah jerky okay but for like long term foods I go for canned meats. Less sugar and salt that way. Plus easier to chew. and easier to prepare like chicken salad or tuna salad.

Yah picked up plenty of tuna. Canned meat gives me the skeeves, but we have a couple of chest freezers that are more than well stocked.
Canned chicken is okay and cheap beef I use straight up for stews. If you want a quick easy meal prep get some knorr alfredo sides canned chicken and broccoli. boom instant Alfredo.

Not sure if this is powerleveling, but I live in a small town 2 hours from 2 of the confirmed cases in sweden and the grocery stores seem to be constantly packed with people buying large amounts of mostly frozen food, no shortages yet apart from frozen meals like pizza and pre-cooked meals for some reason. Guess we're here for a good time, not a long time.

Unless I can track you it's not power leveling.

I reckon we won't have any real supply problems in Australia, at least until community based transmission really kicks off.

I'd say im pretty good. Rice, canned goods pasta and im going to get some meats for deep freeze

Could you nerds take your prepping discussion to another thread? This one is losing its utility as a source for news. @hk-47 fix this shit

I don't care for the prepping discussion in ways (Yes, beans, rice, canned meat, it's been said on this thread a million times) but hearing about how other regions of the country are doing during this (if there is panic buying yet) is pretty informative.

It's like being a fly - watching how the general public are reacting to this across the country. I'm sorry, but I love reading about normie stupidity during a happening.

.....

Actually, now that I think about it, that's entertaining as fuck on its own thread. @hk-47 make this happen.
