I think that Dobson didn't become aware of the "SEXIST misogynistic alt-right fedora-tipping 'm'lady' dork" aspect until then - he probably only thought of the general geek aspect prior to that.

For a bit now I have been wondering about that photo. Not that it's out of the realm of possibility but because its a con and Dobson would like any number of manchildren who show up to those things. As much as I'd readily believe Dobson would have done this and then lied, it doesn't really meet the standards of proof we would set for other cows fuckery. I guess it bothers me because Dobson has done so much that we can confirm that is damning and he dismisses it all the time. If it turns out its not him it just gives him more merit to dismiss all the criticism he has received throughout the year. I'm not particularly excited to give Dobson the benefit of the doubt any more than the next kiwi, but we do get carried away from time to time. I'll happily eat my fedora if it turns out it is him though.

Nah, don't do that. Guessing what really happened through an internet filled with lies and people "improving" a story is an uncertain art at best. Get comfortable with knowing you can never really know.

This doesn't answer why he's suddenly doing it now. Does anyone really think that Dobson's work ethic is getting better? Not enough
ratings in the world for that. I'm guessing that they probably just gave him some meds that actually helped; an MAOI and/or stimulants.

It's actually not bad, but I'd consider the actual owl house animation in the show BETTER.
People with hats (including the asspatter that met him IRL at a Con) feel dobson's pain (neckbeard comic thread):

You know, every famous fedora wearing neckbeard I can think of has been a m'lady type, not a misogynerd type, meaning that Dobson and co are abandoning their favorite headgear based on a stereotype that's exaggerated at best.
This seems to be a common theme of the left in current year, abandoning things that have become "tainted" based on stereotyping and fear mongering. Remember when the left was supposed to be against both those things?

They don't give him the instant fame he wants. More importantly, they don't get him a job at Disney- not an animation job, but an "idea guy" job, where he could come up with all the li'l lesbian shows and movies he can think of.

Yeah, the fedora stereotype became a hypocritical ‘Nice Guy’ thing which hit way too close to home for Dobson.
But regularly wearing dress hats comes across as super pretentious on men under a certain age at the best of times.

I don't even get why tumblr is creaming their jeans so hard over the movie. They act like it's a blessing from the femininity gods and every woman should be grateful for it being made. It was an average movie and, if I'm being frank, painfully overrated- it winning anything wouldn't be this massive win for women like the article seems to imply. There's a thousand more women-centric movies out there that deserve those wins more than this does.
