Mostly the people who are either ruling these garbage neighborhoods like fiefdoms, or who don't plan on living anywhere near them.

I'll play devil's advocate. It is a legitimate concern for retirees who bought their house, saved up money to live at their current expenses rates, and get Social Security based on their past (low) incomes. Forcing old people out of their home after a lifetime of retirement planning is a betrayal of the American Dream.

But for them the main cost being driven up by gentrification is rising property taxes, as their house becomes more valuable due to the rising value of the neighborhood around it. Food/utilities going up are mostly covered by Social Security cost of living increases; property taxes usually outpace SS increases.

However that's a local/state issue that can be easily solved with a tax break, not by keeping everybody's property value in the gutter. Lumping this real problem in with the "character of the neighborhood" thing is just emotional blackmail to get you to buy into racism.

Of course, the same people who use coded racial dog-whistles to fight white hipsters gentrification, are the same ones who detect coded racial dog-whistles in every speech Trump gives.

So I know Pelosi is running her open sewer district and whatnot but literally every dem does this? Goddamn.

The basic complaint is that when a neighborhood gets "gentrified", the existing long-term residents (who are either poor or live on fixed income) get priced out of living there and are forced to move. There isn't really an economic downside to this, it's emotional: gentrifying wrecks the "character" of the neighborhood, and changes the lifestyle of the community.

If that sounds like dog whistle, coded language from a 1960's rant from the Deep South, you aren't too far off. Just swap the skin tones on either side, because apparently that makes things not racist in Current Year, somehow.
So basically the racial inverse of this timeless classic? https://www.bitchute.com/video/kdji1kx4VlHK/

Blacks helping end Bernie's campaign yet again.
It's amazing how much identity politics and groupthink play a role in the Democratic Party. I haven't actually verified this, but I'd bet if you looked at the 2016 GOP race, the candidate variances by sex / race / orientation were basically minimal.

In other words, Ben Carson didn't do significantly better with blacks than say, Chris Christie. Ted Cruz didn't do significantly better with latinos than Donald Trump. Carly Fiorina didn't do significantly better with women than Marco Rubio. They probably all did about the same with gays.

But the Dems? Nah man.

This was expected. Blacks vote in lockstep for the establishment every election.
And leading the charge is black women, the most 'kept' demographic in the history of voting demographics. And the shanequas pride themselves on how easily their actual wellbeing can be ignored by their lockstep obligation.

Has anyone check up on Young Turks and Secular Talk? After tonight, they might be angry as hell.
A user in the Super Tuesday thread has been keeping us up to date on the YT stream. Cenk might have finally lost his marbles. IIRC, he would rather have Harris running than Biden or some shit like that.

I think Cenk also mentioned something to the effect of "If Obama had given more free shit out, Bernie would have easily won tonight".

My only familiarity would be shit like the "measures taken" in Harlem in the 70s and 80s to "preserve character"

People want this kind of shit?

If it keeps them far away from THIER front doors, yes.

When they whine about gentrification, they're really whining that you are displacing ghetto trash that might move into THEIR neighborhoods as a result.
