Questions now: how old is the older milder strain?
How long has that been circulating?
Where and when did the newer strain arise? Can it be tied to a practice such as the stupidly bad field hospitals?
does infection with one provide immunity to both? Or does infection with one prime the immune system to react in a different way?
were any reinfection cases a different strain?
How are the proportions of, and spread of, each strain changing with time?
Can it be tied to the Shincheonji cult actively choosing to be infected by and spread the disease from the most severely effected early patients?
It's not indicated in that paper but someone needs to check the exact type those 9,000 cultists have.

When I went in to my local IGA yesterday, just as this TP madness was starting to kick in, I was talking with one of the checkout chicks and I challenged her to ask customers as to why they were stocking up on toilet paper, and bet her that 90% of them wouldn't know why.
I went in again this afternoon and asked her how she went. Not a single customer she asked knew why they were hoarding dunny roll, just 'everybody else is doing it so they are too' types of answers. Fear of missing out. Saw it on the news. I saw pictures on fakebook etc etc
Unbelieveable.
Side note : Toilet paper, hand sanitizer, basic bleach, nitrile gloves all out of stock since last night. No food concerns yet, except for popcorn which seems weird, but completely understandable . I too enjoy some popcorn while watching this all go down.

Basically Its possible but that's if you put your tinfoil hat on. I've reviewed my documents there was a slight hint but we're talking china here. China doesn't like Christianity. So I highly a death cult would start in wuhan at least openly.

I've been following Shinjeonchi shortly before they became big in the spotlight. Seems like the Moonies weren't crazy enough. They did have a branch in Wuhan, but it "disappeared" once the spotlight shone on them. There are churches in China, and there are mosques. They're not allowed to proselytize, and religious materials, like evangelical pamphlets and the like are subject to confiscation, and arrest of the people bringing it in.
My theory would be that they were unaware of the disease, but when they caught it, some might have interpreted it as the sign they all needed to bring about "God's Plan".

I'd like to know how old the weaker strain is too. I'm still trying to explain the weird flu I had in Oct- two weeks of feeling 'off' then a week of fever (but no intestinal shit, nausea, etc) while getting snuffly, then another week of mucus so bad my lungs were weezing and I would feel like I was gonna choke on mucus when I laid flat in bed. It resolved itself and never got bad enough to see anyone (although I didn't go out for a couple of weeks). I normally don't get flus most years, let alone have one hang on for a month, so it was kind of notable. Are there any branches in the US (or world wide?) I stumbled upon a map that implied there were but gave no specifics for cities and now I can't even find that. CEI is a good resource but they don't have a ton of stuff and now any info is swallowed up by recent events.

Damn, that was fast. Globalism does introduce some amazing efficiencies, good and bad.
There are several suspected cases, my neighbor works at a hospital where they are treating a patient. She's a physical therapist, yesterday they sat her down to talk about emergency pandemic protocols. Right now, her studio is being converted into an isolation ward, no more balance beams or aqua therapy for stroke patients. If shit hits the fan, all non-essential personnel (including her) have to stay away from the hospital and remain on-call 24x7. They are concerned about the emergency room
It occurred to me she might already be infected, I apologized in advance for no more handshakes or high fives. She says doctors are worried about transmission but feel they already have appropriate controls in place to keep personnel safe. Who knows, but I don't want to be the guy in a Twitter video falling dead in the street.
