This fake coughing trend is pretty weird.

That's a little bitch move, to do the fake coughing and then taunt the other person. Twat needs to show some manners. Can see why the other person got up and walked away. This virus shit is no fucking game, cunt. Might feel much differently should you come down with the virus. "I'm sick! That virus is racist!"

Bulletin - Bloomberg's out. Good! Fuck him, fully, the asshole. LMAO

Why don't you do it yourself?

Anyway, if you want to upload it, it needs to be crunched down quite a bit.
Sorry, I really just meant save it somewhere. I’m stuck commuting or I’d have gotten it myself. I had time in gridlock to throw up that post. (I also didn’t realize how huge the file would be)

In New York, a robot with a friendly face rolled into Times Square to advise concerned people on coronavirus, and provide them with information about it.
Curious passersby stopped, filled out a short questionnaire on an iPad-like touch screen attached to the robot's chest, and even had a conversation with the machine.
The 1.5 meter-tall robot named Promobot was created by a Philadelphia-based startup that makes autonomous service robots for businesses and is run by a group of Russians.
The company's chief business development officer, Oleg Kivorkutsev, told Reuters: "We developed a special software to detect coronavirus symptoms. We understand how this problem is important, how people are nervous, people are afraid of this. But if they understand a few, simple things, for example, what symptoms coronavirus has, and what they should do to prevent it, everything will be fine and everyone will be happy."
The robot does not actually detect the virus. It asks if a person has common symptoms such a fever and the person has to hit "yes" or "no" on the touch screen.
Then, they receive a reassuring message if they chose no.
"This thing is very clever. It's really, really clever," said Tara Healy, who was visiting New York from London.
Others were not so easily impressed. "A bit mental, but it sums up New York for me," said Thomas McAlinden from Scotland.

Oh look, some friendly Russian fellas decided to deploy their touchscreen robot in the most densely populated part of the US. It's nice that it can both contaminate reassure the healthy and give the sick the opportunity to smear the screen with corona virus instructions.

Very informative article from the Onion. :)

Panicked WHO Officials Not Sure How To Respond After Coronavirus Brings 12 People Back To Life

GENEVA—Acknowledging they were taken aback by the latest development in the global epidemic, panicked World Health Organization officials were reportedly unsure how to respond Tuesday after the coronavirus brought 12 people back to life. “Uh, okay, so COVID-19 remains a very grave health concern, but we have to admit that the disease returning a dozen people from the dead is a definite upside,” said WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom, urging citizens to practice good hygiene in an effort to stop the transmission of the pathogen unless they have recently deceased loved ones, in which case it might make sense to encourage the spread. “If you have recently traveled to an infected area, we urge you to stay quarantined within morgues and graveyards in the hopes that your disease will bring some people back. As a reminder, the elderly and infirm are particularly at risk of coronavirus, so please exercise caution, unless you’re already suffering from a terminal disease in which case, I guess, do your best to contract the virus, maybe? I don’t know, this one’s a real head scratcher.” Adhanom added that a potential response had been further complicated by reports that the 12 afflicted individuals had gained super strength and were capable of running hundreds of miles without getting tired.

Get a load of what they're having the airmen in the base hospital wear.

If you look this make and model up, you'll find that it's been discontinued a little over a year ago. That's right. Hospital staff, after a hard lesson the other day regarding potential exposure, are being given leftover, inferior, phased-out, possibly expired(?) trash as PPE. I'm not shocked at all. I was shocked before I found this out, when I thought the military was suddenly 'doing something at least 'slightly right' by providing "new" masks. Where did they even dig these up all of a sudden?

"Product Discontinuation effective December 31, 2018"

Where's the reset button, I'll press it my own damned self.

Related: Hospital staff that interact with patients are to dispose of their masks after each patient. Patients however, can wear the same one indefinitely.
EDIT: The current model masks were all taken away when this discontinued batch was brought in. I'm quite certain that the current, proper masks are for the brass and their families only.

"Hong Kong health authorities" report the dog is now hosting CoV2 on its own, i.e., human-to-animal transmission.

Get well soon, pupper.

Coronavirus: pet dog belonging to Covid-19 patient infected, Hong Kong health authorities confirm
  • Pomeranian first tested ‘weak positive’ last Friday, suggesting it was surface contamination, with dog picking up traces of the virus in its nose and mouth
  • Animal now has low-level infection and experts unanimously conclude human-to-animal transmission

Hong Kong health authorities confirmed on Wednesday that a pet dog belonging to a Covid-19 patient had contracted the coronavirus, with experts calling it the first reported case of human-to-animal transmission.

The Pomeranian, which repeatedly tested “weak positive”since last Friday – suggesting it was surface contamination, with the dog picking up traces of the virus in its nose and mouth rather than being actually infected – will now remain under quarantine with the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department for further testing.

“It is positive to tests and has been infected, so it is now quarantined in a centre by the department,” health minister Sophia Chan Siu-chee said during a regular press briefing.

“Further tests will be conducted and it will not be released until the tests return negative results.”

The department said experts from the University of Hong Kong, City University and the World Organisation for Animal Health had been consulted, and all “unanimously agreed that these results suggest that the dog has a low level of infection and it is likely to be a case of human-to-animal transmission”.

A spokesman stressed there was still no evidence that pet animals could be a source of infection of Covid-19 or that they could fall sick. He added that apart from maintaining good hygiene practices, pet owners need not be overly concerned and under no circumstances should they abandon their pets.

More to follow ...

Honestly this doesn't surprise me. I've seen many hospitals use expired products on patients and staff as if it's no big deal. Nobody will say anything unless a patient threatens to sue and then they scramble trying to order new supplies finally.
Not sure if it's just a ghetto hospital only experience or just a worldwide issue.

No updates on any new cases but an interesting news story from Finland about how badly our officials have handleled the communication on corona

Scientists criticize reporting on coronavirus: "Government and officials blunder"

The Chancellor of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health admits that there has been strong criticism from the research community about the communications from authorities and government.

Kirsi Varhila, the Chancellor of the Ministry, admits that the communications on coronavirus by the government and the authorities have been heavily criticized by the research community.

- Now, taking on a couple of high-profile, well-researched people who have given us quite a lot of criticism. Of course we have gone through it, looked at it and analyzed it, says Varhiala.

For example, Tuomas Aivelo, a postdoctoral researcher in ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Helsinki, criticized the government and authorities in Tiede magazine blog.

In a headline entitled "Government and officials blunder with coronavirus," Aivelo describes the government as having been "tiptoeing" with corona.

The government held a news conference on Thursday last week, where, according to Aivalo, there was hardly any talk of preparing citizens, except for hand washing.

In particular, he would have liked to have some anticipatory communication about the various scenarios on the spreading of the virus and telling how likely they were to materialize.

- Instead, individual cases were discussed and in practice, immediately afterwards, it became clear that there were more cases, even chains of infection.

He was most confused by the comment by Päivi Sillanauke, Department Manager at STM (Ministry of Social Affairs and Health), that the most likely scenario would be a few more cases of coronavirus.

- It's not a reasonable scenario at any level. There will certainly be more of them. I do not believe that such a scenario actually exists, or that the THL (National Institute for Health and Welfare) scenarios are very wrong, Aivelo says.

"So the assessment came late, and communication was not very forward-looking," Aivelo tells IS.

Minister of Social Affairs and Health Aino-Kaisa Pekonen also admits that the ministry has received feedback that it did not tell enough about the coronavirus situation and that the communication was not clear enough.

Partly because of feedback from the ministry, the STM decided to hold a media coverage event on the coronavirus this Tuesday, though she said there was no actual new news on the situation

On the other hand, according to Varhila, the ministry did not want to over-publicize on the corona and thus cause unnecessary concern among citizens.

However, she points out that there are currently only seven known coronavirus infections in Finland, of which all chains of infection are known.

- But there is always room for improvement, that's the starting point. There is always room for improvement in how we communicate and how much we communicate. And whether the actions of the authorities are sufficient, says Varhila.

However, the Ministry of Family and Basic Services Krista Kiuru (sd) said that the Ministry has done everything possible to provide timely information.

- In a situation where citizens are concerned and people are unaware, I think it's absolutely important that the information is transparent, real-time and factual as possible. That's what we here at the Ministry have been trying to do, Pekonen adds.

The government said on Wednesday that it would increase civilian communication on the coronavirus.

Information points are coming to Finnish passenger ports and Finavia airports, providing passengers with information on coronavirus.

A nationwide coronavirus helpline is now open. However, the phone does not provide medical advice or guidance on acute symptoms on call.
