sidenote on this subject, we really need to be funding NIH better. when I visited last fall their buildings were practically crumbling because they don't have enough money for repairs.

I've been taking psuedoefferon + flonase + zyrtec just to combat mine, and went to my allergist who gave me a prescription for ANOTHER medicationto fix my sinuses still swelling. I feel you hard.
Ever since I started taking 12 hour psuedoefferon in particular (my doctors uggested it) I havent had a lung infection in the past year when allergy season comes around. I wish I could stock up on it, but people make meth out of it so you know, im ready to eat the hell during a shortage.

I only use soap and not more than usual.
Looks like it. I've had problems with my scalp before but never on my hands. The reason I'm so paranoid is because while I'm not afraid of catching it so much as I am horrified of potentially spreading it to friends and relatives in high risk groups.
Psuedoephedrine is amazing for clearing out your sinuses (I buy it all the time for my deviated septum), but be careful and try to avoid taking it multiple days in a row because it dries the fuck out of your shnoz and sinuses.

Not necessarily, a lot of nursing homes take in post op knees and hips or other short term patients from the hospitals, or the nursing home has a connected skilled unit for those cases. Patients who could expect to make a full recovery without any major complications could contract this while at the facility. Not saying all these people would die, but most of them do tend to be over 60.

Bruni gave no details on whether the person who tested positive was such an employee or among the relatively few clergy or guards who live inside its walls.

IIRC his doctorate is in something related to nursing and he never attempts to obfuscate it. I think he used to teach nurses in some formal capacity. Part of the reason I like him is because he isn't sensationalist, isn't telling people to donate, comment and subscribe, and is boring as fuck making him seem extra credible in my book. He seems to be a retired grandpa with enough medical knowledge and time to really sink his teeth into the situation. I'd take him over the jizzmoppers over at peak prosperity trying to push their fucking honeybadger virus memes.

John Campbell isn't a doctor in medical sense, that's true. He has a PhD, but not from medicine, so it's rather ingenious to call him a doctor every fucking time he is referred to. It's true that he has done some kind of research in immunology, but his main field is something like sport & health science, which makes me doubt his expertise regarding viruses a bit.
In my opinion he is just a guy who decided to take his fifteen minutes of fame by riding on the gullible peoples fear over something they don't understand, and which he can at least pretend to understand.

Spain news. We're up to 5 dead and 345 official infected. The WHO spokesperson is taking the chance to use vague bullshit to try and screw us over. Funnily enough Fernando Simon has been taking the war to the news and very politely (and without adressing the WHO directly) proving why she's a fucking cunt and explaining what is being done and why this is not as much of an issue as "some" want to pretent. I swear that guy is a godsend. One of the new dead was from the same residence as the last madrid dead, the orther is another imported boomer that didn't go to the doctor till way too damn late. Finally, the news just got a scientist (Juan Jose Badiola, a viral researcher) to BTFO all these labs in israel and shit by explaining why a vaccine is unlikely to take less than 18 months to roll out even if they got it right. Which is why investigations should have been funded by certain governments when prior human coronaviri outbreaks happened.

Because that's how most spaniards are, we'll bitch and moan like no other and mock everything under the sun, but we're not refusing the call of duty no matter how much it hurts. Is it any wonder than Carnaval is "the feast of momo" (greek god of sarcasm and snarks)? Heh.

Its successful because it works on everything, if it heats it to kill it or rinses it away to be murdered by chemicals in a water treatment plant then you're unlikely to infect people or be infected yourself. Campaigns like this are hilariously effective in the UK and have been since WW2. Simple, easy messages like the "Wash your hands to Happy Birthday twice" or "To the (UK) national anthem." will work because it's not that much more than most people wash their hands anyway.
Oh, meanwhile the newspapers are starting to act out as around half of the 115 infected have been sent home with self isolation notices from their respective NHS Trusts, and some panicky twat of a Doctor in a London Hospital is saying how badly prepared the UK is. Being as that's over in the bug-people run Failing New York Times it makes me wonder which Labour Party advisor he secretly is and is never introduced as such on the BBC.

As a case in point, just yesterday I met with a friend I hadn't seen for a few months. A real smart cunt, reads books like they were candy bars, has read probably every book on viruses that has ever been written (more than I have) and when I asked him what his plans were - especially when the schools shortly close (about his kids). He said "You really think it's going to be that bad?". This is despite the fact schools are starting to shutter in certain areas anyways, sporting events cancelled, but not here, but probably this week. What planet is this guy on?
Meanwhile, an actual retired virologist that lives a few blocks from here (bona fide), hasn't been seen and quickly uped and gone to a better climate (probably because he knows whats happening, is old and doesn't want to fucking die).
You can write all the books you want on what NOT to do with economies, electing populists and viruses and anything else, but nothing can change people to see raw data and recognize what is staring them in the fucking face. Its like the car has to actually make it over the median and go through your windshield before it's a problem, the fact it was clipping the median just for some reason wasn't enough...
If we had one case of Ebola in this city, the city would be shuttered because the images of blood exploding from a melting body would be enough to put the fear of God into people, but this virus is the Devil masked as a "mild Flu" despite the fact it will kill 10,000 times as many people as Ebola just doesn't register without the horror factor to shake this de-sensitized population that watch too many horror movies and TWD.
The only unrealistic thing about the movie Contagion was that Jude Law was given enough airtime as a nut bag, but Trump in the real world with his childish views on the Virus makes up for that.
If we had on TV and the radio ONLY virologists and not talking heads, there would be a realistic mindset about what is unfolding, but frankly, who wants a population in turmoil? If China, Italy and Iran hadn't taken the draconian steps they have and are we'd be at 5 Million cases by now. But we will get there anyways as this virus sweeps through in 3 waves. The first in the Northern Hemisphere, then the Southern later this year, then back to the Northern Hemisphere by the end of the year.
On the bright side, gas has never been cheaper, and if you've recovered from the virus you can get amazing air travel deals and get on a cruise ship for next to nothing. Hotel rooms are going for a song. And Chinese food delivery times has shrunk by 50%. I'd day there's a silver lining.
