At least someone's trying to think of the old folks. Probably too little too late though. Canada's cases are now at 54. Thankfully there are no deaths reported.

People under 19 seem to have extremely low risk for facing severe symptoms? Do you know how much info the media is leaving out about how harmful this thing really is or is not?

What do we gain by winning a disease war? A bid for show of stronger economics? What exactly is made from all this attention? I mean the media makes billions obviously but even politicians are eating up this coronavirus shit like its a drug.

Who benefits from this? Remember during the Cold War one power would benefit greatly from proving that its country is much more ready for a sickness then another. Lately all these warships have had this major dispute about China claiming its boundaries for powers over seas they claim are theirs and others do not.

So I am trying to figure out how the US gets the upper hand by being the main country to "combat this disease" but somehow the benefit is there. We gain an edge in an economic war. No one gives a shit about poor sick dying people who lose their lives.

Its sad but none of this media attention has anything to do with how powerful Covid-19 actually is or isn't. Its all part of a balance of power and which world organisation can swing their stakes in their favor. Honestly maybe people should be this paranoid during any flu season. Fucking Christ people are actually washing their hands and trying not to get the whole town sick for a change. Usually no one gives a fuck and people are coughing all over the place etc. Finally people are using their brain.

It just takes some persuasion. Like this new virus that turns people into The Walking Dead. Fucking amazing.

I never made a Nurgle joke about this whole thing because I thought it was cliche, but, goddamn, these people are legitimately worshiping Nurgle aren't they?

I live near a MAJOR railway hub. I got used to the rails "singing" all night. It kind of sounded musical as it echoed across the countryside.

I've noticed that there isn't as much traffic, not as much heavy railcars. The rails aren't "singing" as much if you know what I mean. Last year at this time it was a constant concerto of low and high pitched tones from stressed metal and the percussion impacts of massive strands of rail cars thudding into one another.

Now it's getting quiet.

A nearby Conex Field has only 1 row of Conex's left and I saw security guards at the gate.

An area where they do distribution usually has a full parking lot of cars all night and semis rolling in and out at all hours with four lanes of semis waiting to be loaded.

The place was deserted the last two days. Fucking empty.

So...

They are still far behind the US. What do we get by drowning people with the media? Well we show who is in control. Most of the world watches the US media. I have had family visit me from the Philippines and knows as much about US issues as I do. In other countries more often then not over half of what people watch is American tv and American movies and American news etc.

With this virus the US once again gets to flex its muscles and show the power the news has over people.

I wish no one had to live in this day and age in a fear of getting sick or not. The friggin common cold should be wiped off the face of the earth. Oh well

Why it is that Canada and American cases seem to be so long for recovery? It seems like Canada has had some cases for a while and the recovered number is still very low, same with the USA. Although many news reports, especially in Canada, say the cases are mild and they are isolating at home. Are they being more particular about what 'recovered' means? What's the actual specifics of recovered because it seems like thee more developed places Can/US/SK are very slow with labeling someone as recovered while Iran and China be claiming huge jumps of recovered people.

I still believe the 'reinfection' seen elsewhere was really that people just aren't fully recovered, not really being reinfected, and thus testing positive still so I kind of get it but how long does this linger for 🤔 even if it was a 'mild case'. Even looking at SK numbers they're only at 108 recovered and I assume the 6000 or so confirmed to have it aren't all in active stages of dying. Just the usual isolating at home for quite a few of them but really, what are the criteria for recovery? until you test negative multiple times?

Like I said in another post somewhere, be careful when comparing things like "recovered" from country to country. They are based on local reporting standards. Canada and the US tend to be the most over the top honest and conservative in their reporting of Medical Data. So recovered for them probably means 3 clean tests and no further symptons. For China it may mean they have simply become asymptomatic or the Pneumonia has past. It's actually not in the nature of North American Physicians to ever declare anyone "cured", less exacting terms such as "recovered" or "in remission" they will cautiously use but generally only after exhausting every other option to find something still wrong with you. About the only positive statement you will typically get from an American Doctor is "That is healing nicely".

It's here. Corona-chan is doing her dance here at home. We came back this morning, just when the news hit us.

The man came from an Euro trip (France, Spain, some slav place) and arrived Feb. 26. He went to the hospital March 4 and it was confirmed today.

It's only Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, and Venezuela left.

I haven't been by the local intermodal yard lately, but I saw something really weird Monday. A UP unit train of well cars and not a single damn container onboard. I've never seen more than maybe a third of the well cars empty on a unit train before.
