It doesn't seem to be causing a Cytokine storm which is usually what kills younger people? That was the big thing with the spanish flu, it caused healthy immune systems to go into overdrive which had the opposite effect of stopping the virus and your immune responce contributed to killing you.

There's always a risk and there likely are some pediatric deaths but for some reason we probably won't find out why until they get a better grip on this as a whole. For now just count your blessing the very young just don't seem to be as affected. Although, seasonal flu is the same, there's always a risk but in younger people it's usually quite a bit less.

Follow the standard; wash hands, maintain a distance, cover coughs and sneeses, etc. Be safe and pray it doesn't find you.

Babies that have been born seem OK, you just don't want to give birth in an infected ward. There were reports of infant deaths before the great firewall kicked on, but they were limited to infected women giving birth in coronachan wards. If the sprogs are alraedy here, just coddle them as you usually would and keep those grubby little mitts as clean as possible.

I hate to spoil this thread by posting actually useful information, but I think you will find that if you're concerned about toilet paper availability that searching Ebay or whatever the local equivalent is for 'bidet' or 'bum gun'* will offer you some options for easily usable toilet paper alternatives that cost less than a few months worth of toilet paper, while producing cleaner results.

Especially at currently inflated prices.

Yeah, people are absolutely refusing to change their habits. I saw tons of people prepping before heading out to the nightclub, and my friends think I'm absolutely paranoid to cancel plans to go to concerts or out to eat. The attitude I keep seeing is "well, I'm not saying it isn't serious but we can't let it run our lives" like the world will end if you stop going out to the movie theater or out to eat for awhile.

I'm just so confused why people are stockpiling and then continuing to go out as much as they did before. Part of the reason you get all that stuff is so you don't have to go out as much.

I am a Gen X-er. Most of us are highly aware of how much everything sucks and those who haven't Cobained it by now, are pretty much resigned to this fact.

The Boomers are the ones who get butt-hurt when things don't work like they think they should.

All the more reason to fear that they will just assume that they are safe, because there is always a hospital bed in every ICU, reserved just for them. Of course they will beat the triage, and get the most skilled doctors. They always did before. Roads will remain open, sick people will self-quarantine because that is the "right thing to do" and attending health personnel will not fall ill themselves. The ones with money will think that this is a social strata thing, and that those old people on the other side of the tracks will be more susceptible, simply because over the last 7 decades, they have been shuttled away from most social ills that surround them.

Sorry, just sharing what I know, based on the Boomers and Silents who raised me and some of my friends. Not all Boomers. Just white middle and upper-class ones. They escaped the draft, after all. Not to be cynical, but as far as facing a public health emergency with humility and grace, hopefully it won't be to late for some of these people.
