I just got my answer on Ravenna.

Long term care facilities should have been one of the first type of institutions put into lockdown weeks ago.

Yay, our health minister tested positive for Wu Flu!

Pretty sure this thing is gonna get numerous higher-ups all over Europe. This minister must have spent hours conferring with other members of the cabinet lately. The infected Polish general is known to have been attending a meeting with other top NATO military commanders. And there were some EU officials tested positive, weren't there? I just wonder if they will start dropping dead like Iranian big shots.

I see a lot of people asking for news out of Iran so ... Wizhout furzher adieu 🥁
News from Iran
Iranian TV Host Slams IRGC General in Charge of Civil Defense for Evading the Issue of Coronavirus
Delavari accepted questions about coronavirus from his viewers through his Instagram account. One of his viewers asked if Iran is a strategic target in a biological war, and Delavari said that this question should be addressed to IRGC General Gholamreza Jalali, the head of Iran's Civil Defense Organization, whom he criticized for declining to appear on the show during the coronavirus outbreak because he is "busy," even though he is usually a regular guest. Addressing General Jalali, Delavari said: "When we couldn't care less about your civil defense, you were here all the time, [but] now, when you need to come and tell us what this story is about, you don't have time."
Iranian Researcher and Former Diplomat Amir Mousavi: Coronavirus Created in a Lab - yup you guessed it ... Murica is to blame, bummer.
"Iranian researcher and former diplomat Amir Mousavi said in a March 5, 2020 interview on Russia Today's Arabic-language channel that prominent scientists, including Russian biologist Igor Nikulin (see MEMRI TV Clip. No 7855), have said that coronavirus seems to have been developed in a laboratory and that it is an American conspiracy. He said that coronavirus may be America's way of targeting the government officials and cultural sites of its enemies like President Trump had threatened to do and that the U.S. may have the cure for coronavirus, but is holding off on releasing it so that coronavirus continues to affect China and Iran and so that the cure will increase in price and yield greater profits for America. Mousavi also said that America's recent offer of aid to Iran came with a demand for accurate information, and that this is an indication that the U.S. is trying to collect information about the virus' behavior in order to use it in future biological wars. "
Member of Medical Committee in Majles: WHO Experts Come to Iran to Learn from Us Rather Than Help Us
"Dr. Hossein Ali Shahriari, a member of the Medical Committee in Iran's Majles, said in a March 4, 2020 show on Channel 4 (Iran) that the coronavirus outbreak in Iran won't last much longer in light of the measures that have been taken. He said that the WHO cannot offer much help to Iran from a technological perspective, that Iran has medical experts that have held senior positions in the WHO, and that the WHO and Chinese delegations are even coming to Iran in order to learn from its vast experience and expertise with the virus."
Iraqi Scholar Prior to Being Infected with Coronavirus: Virus Is Divine Punishment against Chinese ... whoops
"Shiite Iraqi Islamic scholar Hadi Al-Modarresi, who is based in Qom, Iran, said in a video that was uploaded to the Internet on February 28, 2020 that the spread of coronavirus is undoubtedly an act of Allah that is divine punishment against the Chinese for their treatment, mockery, and disrespect towards Muslims and Islam. In early March, online sources reported that Al-Modarresi contracted coronavirus. "
Pls show the channel some love, it covers a lot of topics and is generally a great source of entertainment 👋🏾

Iran is under embargo. Unfortunately all these Western fat cat cocksuckers will have access to all kinds of experimental and expensive therapies they'd never even consider to use on our peasant asses.

China being a dictatorship makes gathering such numbers easy. It's going to be far worse when it comes to western countries I'm afraid, so perhaps 3 or even 5 is more sound.
I get the impression it's worse over there really. Since local governments don't want to look too bad and report high numbers to the central government they underreport them. Even worse if there are several such chains of course.

Canada is now up to 93 cases today, a jump of 15 from yesterday.

The number of reported cases of COVID-19 in Alberta doubled on Tuesday to 14, and the province's chief medical officer of health is now warning people to be cautious about making plans to travel outside the country.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw provided her latest update on Tuesday, detailing the seven new cases and outlining the ongoing work to protect public health.

Three of the new cases are from the Edmonton zone. The other four are from the Calgary zone, Hinshaw said.

One person whose case was previously announced is currently receiving treatment in hospital. The person, who is in stable condition, had a pre-existing chronic condition.

All 14 of the cases confirmed in Alberta so far have been travel-related, Hinshaw said, which means health officials are not seeing evidence of the illnesses spreading within the province.

The new cases in the Edmonton zone involve a man in his 70s and a woman in her 60s who were travelling together. The third Edmonton-area case involved a woman in her 30s who had recently travelled outside of Canada.

The four cases in Calgary involve a man in his 50s, two women in their 30s and a woman in her 40s.

I don't know how to put things under a spoiler.

All of the new cases are recovering in isolation at home.

The travellers had returned from France, the Netherlands, Egypt, Iran, Taiwan, Germany, Malaysia, Trinidad and Tobago, the Philippines and the United States.

Several of the travellers visited more than one country on their trip. One was also on the same MS Braemar cruise ship in the Caribbean as a case announced on March 8.

"The fact that all of our confirmed cases are travel-related indicates that we continue to take the right approach at this time," Hinshaw said. "Our public health measures are doing precisely what they were intended to do — detect new cases and take immediate action."

Hinshaw said the number of cases in the province is likely to continue to rise over the coming weeks.

The jump of seven cases in the past 24 hours, she said, shows the public health system is likely capturing "a two-week summary" of people who are arriving back in the province after contracting the virus outside the country.

In her comments Tuesday, Hinshaw included a warning for people with travel plans.

"The risk around the world does continue to increase, which is why I'm asking Albertans to think very carefully before making travel plans for out of the country."

The chief medical officer of health said she is aware that there have been cases where people who returned from trips outside Canada have gone to work while feeling ill.

Those likely occurred, she said, before the province expanded its warnings to include all other countries. Originally, health officials warned only about travelling to seven "countries of concern."

"What we're doing is catching up, I suppose," Hinshaw said. "And we're really trying to emphasize now ... that going forward, anyone who returns from travel and has any symptoms of fever or cough, even if it's a mild cough, should not go to work, should not leave the house, should call 811 and get tested."

The seven cases announced before Tuesday were:

  • A woman in her 50s who lives in the Calgary health zone contracted coronavirus while on board the Grand Princess cruise ship before it was quarantined off the coast of California. She returned to Alberta on Feb. 21 and is currently in isolation at home. Her case, the first in Alberta, was reported Thursday, March 5.
  • A man in his 40s who lives in the Edmonton zone tested positive for COVID-19 last Friday. He had visited Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio before returning to Alberta on Feb. 28.
  • On Sunday, Hinshaw announced the province's third and fourth COVID-19 cases — a man in his 60s from the Edmonton zone, and a woman in her 30s from the Calgary zone who is a close contact of someone who had recently travelled in Europe.
  • On Monday, Hinshaw announced that a woman in her 70s who lives in the Edmonton zone has COVID-19. She is a close contact of an Edmonton-zone man with COVID-19 whose case was announced on Sunday. Like the man, the woman was on-board the Grand Princess cruise ship before returning home on Feb. 21. Her symptoms started after she got home to Alberta.
  • Also Monday, the province announced that a man in his 30s from the Calgary zone has the illness. He is a close contact of the Calgary-zone woman announced as a case of COVID-19 on March 8. The man had travelled to Ukraine, the Netherlands and Turkey. He returned to Alberta on March 2. His symptoms started after his return.
  • A third case was also announced Monday: a woman in her 50s from the Calgary zone who was aboard the MS Braemar cruise ship from Feb. 11 to March 4. She developed symptoms after getting home and was tested on Sunday.

Holy shit, has anyone posted this yet? Popular historical weeb Youtuber Metatron has been quarantined after he visited America and most of his plane on the trip back to Italy got sick.

I've actually watched some of this guy's stuff. He talks about stuff like the historical accuracy of katanas, Japanese castles, and life in feudal Japan. He says they haven't positively ID'd it as Corona but him and presumably everyone else on board are essentially under house arrest for the time being. Not that he sounds like he really wants to go anywhere.

The CHOP Specialty Care & Surgery Center is probably closer to the King of Prussia Mall than the Wuhan bio weapons lab was to the Wuhan market.

Unfortunately you are 100% wrong with your assessment. King of Prussia Mall is in the echelon of shopping centers that are known as "destinations"; that is to say people come to the country specifically to shop there.

:drink:

Forget the mall, the WaWa touchscreen will be the death of Philly.

Multiple Ohio universities are cancelling in person classes. Sadly, public schools aren't. Even poor towns in Appalachian Ohio have VLA(virtual learning academy) as an option. It's perfectly viable to do almost all classes online.
A bunch of schools are sticking it out because the parents can't afford childcare otherwise. At least there's some adult supervision at school so once they contract SARS we at least know. Maybe they can make their own masks for art class. Sew trash bags into a hazmat suit instead of recess.

WALMART IS GIVING THEIR SLAVES PAID TIME OFF.

Given that this is Walmart and hell is freezing over I'd say this puts us at DEFCON 2.

Okay, seems like this needs to happen every day. RELAX. We all knew the virus would spread. Looks like a lot of effort is going into trying to slow the spread.

Time to face facts. If you aren't over 60 with health issues, or less than 60 and have immune system problems, you aren't real likely to catch this virus. Saw a list of some people who had died of the virus some pages back today. Believe all but one were in their late 50's or older.

Seriously, if you really want to help yourself these days please keep the above in mind. Matter of fact, stop worrying about yourself and turn that energy toward older relatives who could catch this. I don't believe my kids are worrying about me and I'm in the high-risk category. Am not worrying about this at all.

Here in the USA, and I'll also say in Canada/UK/Oz/NZ, we'll be okay. Gonna be food on the shelves, power, gas, water will flow. Trucks and trains will move. You know the best way to keep all the store shelves from being denuded? Don't panic buy. Personally, I don't drink bottled water. Tap is just fine for me.

And, for my fellow Americans, believe any lockdown, if there are any, won't be China-style. Can you imagine the videos? Anyway, locking down a big US city is a non-starter. If anything, the powers that be might do better checking on high-risk people living with another high-risk person (an elderly couple) or living alone. These people may not have any way to get anywhere, or may be too sick to go buy food, etc. Could be a lot of lonely older people dying of this, quietly, and nobody will know until the bodies start to smell.

Uncle Joe's bottom line today: Relax. You aren't likely to catch the virus. Wash your hands. Avoid gatherings. Maybe stop by the place of an elderly person/couple you know and see how they are doing. Time to start living beyond yourself. 👍

Decided to see if the Southern Ohio Music Festival is still going to happen. Yep. It's a bluegrass festival. Take a guess what the average age of people there will be. Now take a guess how many might smoke, chew tobacco, have lung problems(coal mining is/was a common occupation in Southern Ohio), or age related diseases.

This should be canceled for the time being. Look, bluegrass is cool, but it isn't worth spreading a virus over. Play them banjos and fiddles at home.
Our district is paying 2 hours of OT every day, along with an extra 3 hours on saturday and sunday to all cleaning staff to systemically sanitize the schools every night. Coronavirus has been the talk of the town with meeting after meeting on how we will handle state testing and community outreach if the schools are closed for weeks on end.

We also got a memo today, if we show ANY cold or flu symptoms that can be had with coronavirus, we are to stay home until recovered. They're talking about possibly giving out extra paid time off to any employees that have to stay home sick for long periods of time as a result. It's only a matter of time until they close all non essential functions altogether, we just need a few infections, and with cleveland now having 3 confirmed cases, it wont be long now.

Christ the childcare crisis that will go down if the parents in our city are actually held responsible in any way for their little sperms......

Going to a school plagued by coronavirus would still probably be a step up over their home lives.
