We really need a coronavirus subforum at this point. This thread is moving too fast and there is just too much info getting lost. Dear leader pls.
I filtered the first 500 or so pages and pulled out only the stuff that should be highlighted or split of into its own but who cares.

Chinese are carving lungs out of political prisoners to treat corona virus patients

"Matthew Robertson, a China studies researcher at the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC) who authored a new report on organ procurement and extrajudicial executions in the communist country, translated Yu’s Chinese-language comments.

During the event Tuesday, Yu indicated that unscrupulous doctors in China used the harvested organs for recent double-lung transplants performed on people suffering from coronavirus, Robertson said.

After the event, Robertson confirmed Yu’s comments to Breitbart News."

We need to divest.

Several things I've discussed with the old man (who is going on another international flight in a week. Yay.):

Yes, this is awful and people are dying, but this might be the push to get people on both sides of the idealogical aisles to come together.

That old saying that "hard times bring strong men, strong men bring good times, good times bring weak men, weak men bring hard times" - I think a lot of people agree we are in the age of weak men. But this could be our generation's "hard times" depending on how we handle this.

What happens if RBG gets Corona and drops dead? Republicans can vote in their pick with the majority. Massive chimping out will ensue. But if everyone is on a certain level of lockdown, how do they go about protesting and marching? A conundrum for our friendly neighborhood SJWs.

Pretty much everyone in an important position of power is in the "danger zone" as far as age group most susceptible. Think about the leader of your country, or someone with a huge amount of political influence - they are going to be old most of the time. And what happens (other than VP, etc takes over) if that person dies. How confident do you feel in the next man up?

These people are on campaign trails, conventions, shaking hands with thousands of people a day. Shit is going to happen.

Which (non political) celebrity is going to be the first to catch the virus? And why do you hope it will be Greta Thurnberg?

On the bright side, we are going to see a boom in medical technology funding. A lot of good might come from this. None of it is worth a single human life, but the outcome might be some unseen medical advancements. Hopefully this will begin to push people back toward the center, and not so radically one way or another.

Los Angeles County:

Would like to read article but I am out of page views.

Posting about LA county because this is a major hub for face to face contact, migration, commerce, transportation, etc.

Supplies for sanitizing the environment. Although reported from Los Angeles, I assume they also work in Canada, New England and Ohio, too. 🤣

California has 157 coronavirus cases, but thousands may have been exposed to disease

SACRAMENTO —

Gov. Gavin Newsom said Tuesday that California has 157 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and that thousands of residents may have come into contact with the disease.

The governor said more than 1,075 Californians have been tested for the coronavirus at 18 labs across the state. The state is monitoring another 10,300 individuals that returned to California on international flights and may have been exposed, he said. Many others who have interacted with infected people are being advised to self-monitor and quarantine at home.

The state marked a turning point in its fight against the virus in recent days, with counties all over California shifting from aggressively tracking residents who may have come into contact with infected people to recommending “social distancing” measures, such as avoiding large groups.

Public health experts say counties make that shift as cases increase, and it becomes increasingly difficult to track infections and quarantine thousands of potential contacts. Instead, counties focus on slowing the spread among large groups and direct resources to protecting nursing homes, hospitals and other at-risk facilities.

California relies heavily on county public health officers to make decisions for their local community — a practiceNewsom defended on Tuesday.

“We’re a nation-state,” Newsom said. “This is not a small, isolated state. The state of California is 40 million strong, 58 counties. So, what we’re doing is a bottom-up process, not a top-down process. We’re providing guidance in concert, in collaboration with the federal government and we are sending that down … but each and every county is experiencing a different set of circumstances on the ground.”

The state issued guidelines over the weekend encouraging local schools with one or more confirmed cases of COVID-19 to close campuses. Schools without any cases were advised to prepare for potential closures and to send home students and staff who have visited countries with travel health notices in the last two weeks, or who show signs of fever or respiratory infection.

State officials have similarly asked colleges to isolate or send home staff and students who have visited the same countries, or presented symptoms of the disease.

Universities with confirmed cases are advised to weigh the need to close campuses. Officials are also requesting that organizers prepare to cancel any large-scale events in communities where the virus is spreading.

But even before the state’s new guidelines were released, colleges had begun canceling in-person classes, schools had been shuttered, workplaces had sent home sick or potentially infected employees, and travelers had canceled flight plans — actions that will have ripple effects on the local and state economy.

As the stock market reacted to widespread concerns about a pandemic, federal officials warned Monday that individuals older than 60 are at the greatest risk of serious complication from the virus and said the average age of death is 80. The Trump administration said that children and young adults are more likely to die from the standard flu than COVID-19.

Dr. Sonia Angell, director of the California Department of Public Health, advised residents who know they have come into contact with people who tested positive for COVOID-19 to continue to self-quarantine for 14 days. People who test positive for the virus should isolate themselves until symptoms clear and they test negative for the disease twice. Individuals with severe symptoms are advised to seek medical care.

The governor also announced Tuesday that the state had secured three hotels to house individuals who test positive for the virus. The Office of Emergency Services said overloaded hospitals will be able to free up beds and send people with COVID-19 to the hotels if they do not exhibit serious symptoms that require medical care.

Newsom said some of the 26 passengers who tested positive for COVID-19 and disembarked the Grand Princess cruise on Monday were redirected from regional hospitals to the hotels for isolation.

Newsom said three hotels in Monterey County, Burlingame and San Carlos have been closed to the public and are strictly dedicated to housing coronavirus patients. The hotels are following strict safety and containment protocols, he said.

“We are securing hotels and motels in multiple sites throughout the state of California and have been working on this process for the last week or so, since we first anticipated the ship’s arrival into Northern California,” Newsom said. “These are people that don’t need to be in a hospital, but will be sent here anyway for an abundance of caution to complete their quarantine period.”

We are a nation state?

I am not sure that our fearless governor knows what a nation state is .... France and Germany are nation states.

Thank you for the post. This is clearly not being handled well.

To the "rest of the world:" In most parts of "America" ("The United States") the lifestyle generally is centered on the "nuclear family" (Mom, Dad, 2.5 children) living in a separate dwelling from other "nuclear families" in what are deemed "residential zones."

This model came forth in the 1920's because they (They) noticed that it was more safe and hygienic that way, and so when you see News broadcasts from Anglo North America, that is what you see unless they as interviewing city-dwellers.

There are plenty of exceptions but historically, housing is not designed to accomodate a breeding couple, 2 toddlers, a teenaged step-son, a gay uncle, grandparents and a great-aunt with dementia. Back in the day they noticed that such living arrangements are very stressful and spread disease. And child abuse was rampant.

In more "typical" situations, Mom and Dad and their 2.5 kids live in their own dwelling. Grandparents live within driving distance (or very far away). The gay uncle has his own place in the city, and great-grandma lives with someone, or in a facility somewhere. Less disease infecting the house.

LA County has evolved differently in recent history. There is a housing shortage, for one. So these numbers should be taken very seriously, as many, many, many families are living with 3+ generations under one roof. Add the homeless, and apartment dwellers, in what we would deem overcrowded and slummy conditions.

Even if it were packed with residents of Beverly Hills, any airplane coming from LAX, is flying out of the REAL LA I have just described.

Dude, you're implying that someone should really take advice from a faceless internet collective of autists who'se favorite pastime is mocking other autists? Not only that, but from a thread that is over 680 pages long, completely disordered and growing so fast that it might be the first thing known to mankind to break the speed of light -limit? Go fuck yourself, only reason why I'm reading this thread is because it's funny to see you people lose your shit.

Dude, you're implying there's any other source of info that's better than this forum out there. I assure you, when it comes to Corona, this is the best we got. If it wasn't I'd be linking the better option as soon as I found it, and I'm fairly sure many others would do the same.

It's probably their Chinglish.

The virus isn't contained at all. Hubei (not Wuhan) and Zhejiang are the two biggest hotspots. If they think contained means "the majority falls under", then that's right in the "Chinese" sense, they are right. However that's not English.

Contained and controlled both synonymously mean "控制" in Chinese. However, the two aren't always exchangeable in the English language. It can lead to confusion.
The better Chinese phrase for the virus being mostly "contained to" a specific location in the physical sense would be something longer and more precise, such as "絕大部分患者都在湖北省 [most patients are in Hubei Province]".

The way you put it makes me think of contain in a physical sense, since it's followed by a location. Wuhan or otherwise, the virus is under control in China and only China. Those FOBs either wanted to say most patients are in Wuhan or the virus is under control "even in Wuhan, where it's the most severe" therefore...

He could not control his anger.
He could not contain his anger.

The virus is controlled.
The virus is contained.
I think this causes unnecessary confusion, as get different meanings out of the last two.

I wouldn't say they are strictly wrong... non-native speakers of English (grammatically wrong, should be "the English language") do have better grammarrr.
Even if we give them that, then the virus is really only "contained/controlled" in China. It's pretty much out of hand when it comes to the rest of the fucking world. China has been fighting this virus for 2 months, it takes time to control a virus like this.

Additionally, even if it's controlled, there's always people that slip through... ie my longer post up there.

That's really not what the WHO and chink ambassadors are pushing. I've even seen claims no cases in china have happened for over 2 weeks. At all.

That sounds chaotic.

Do you know anything about the situation in Talavera, and Toledo as a whole?

It's fine. The disease is going as expected, in fact it's going slower than it was feared. It's the fucking PSOE and media being dumbfucks, everything else is fine. Outside of madrid there's no risk. Only risk in madrid is wether or not the gov is about to fuck up, toledo is more than safe. Hospitals everywhere have started reparing old respirators, habilitating extra wings, a new hospital is being built. The system is fucking peachy, don't worry. If the gov goes crazier and the situation changes I'll warn but so long as they don't ACTIVELY FUCK IT UP we'll be fine. Sadly this is the SPANISH government we're talking about, they're experts in actively fucking it up.

I love how the Hungarian government handled this. Straight out ban on the biggest hotspots. If Australia did this, our labor party controlled socialist media would be moaning about racism and blahblahblah ad nauseam. We just let in a bunch of international students from China and Iran, fucks sake this is bad.

Though the "pure Aryans (ehhh, Slavs?) can't get the virus" thing is pretty dumb. I like how Italians are considered brown, because Chinaland thinks they are middle Easterners.
Hope there's enough masks.

The pure aryan thing is entirely something the citizens cooked up on their own. Has nothing to do with thw government.

Before Italy, the government did not take it seriously. But when the pasta hit the fan, Orban's ruling party did a very quick 180 on their stance. As much good as it does with a population that thinks that Stronk! beats any virus, and smoking being harmful is just a jewish/nwo/illuminati/patriarchy/monsanto made up tale to keep the little person down and cover up the real cause like US cancer rays and weather machines that are actually responsible for cancer.

A lot of civilians here, left or right , have libertarian and conspiracy theorist leanings.

Italy reported 2,313 new cases of coronavirus over the past 24 hours and 196 new deaths, raising the total to 12,462 cases and 827 dead

I, Giorno Giovanna, am shitting my pants.

That's a 6.6% death rate. Would love to know more demographic information.

So... Cornoavirus temporarily visited my city yesterday. Someone got hospitilized and tested positive for it. Hospital went like "oh shit" and transferred him to a better hospital outside of the city. Three things about this.
  • My aunt works as a nurse on the first hospital.
  • There's(/was) no cases around this part of the state because this section pretty barren and my town is the middle of nowwhere.
  • That guy is/was the first case of this town, because he decided to visit here despite there's nothing here. This town is not a tourist spot either. He's a tourist.
I'm pretty sure the guy already unknowingly spreaded it on the hospital staff, so I'm scared if my aunt decided to spread it to me if she decides to visit me and the cases that will blow up afterwards.

You guys asked for a board about this shit so find a way to organize this. Make as many threads as seems reasonable. Do not copy+paste articles. Use archives and excerpts.
What about all the articles that were already pasted into this thread before the move?

Major coronavirus updates so far today: - Italy: 2,313 new cases, 196 new deaths - Iran: 958 new cases, 63 new deaths - Spain: 527 new cases, 18 new deaths - France: 497 new cases, 15 new deaths - Germany: 343 new cases, 1 new death
