Literally nobody could have foreseen China being complete fucking dumbfucks that released a novel virus into the world during Trump's presidency (although the fact that the World War Z novel and the movie Contagion both have their respective diseases start in China is prophetic in hindsight). If anything, the Wu Flu helped illustrate the problems with having so much of our industry tied to China, especially pharmaceuticals. And at any rate, I'm pretty sure that the "people will die!!!!!!" fearmongering wasn't related to a theoretical pandemic. I seem to recall they were talking about the right-wing death squads that were gonna start rounding up the gays and the browns and lynch them where they stood. It's been over three years now and I still haven't seen a single death squad, let alone gotten to enlist. Sad!
And what more do they want? First they said Trump was overreacting, now they're saying he's not doing enough. At this point, I want Corona-chan to take me so I don't have to go cross-eyed following their mental gymnastics anymore.
She was born in 1981, which means that in 1994 she'd have been 13 years old, the age when a Bat Mitzvah is typically held. There was a Bat Mitzvah listed on Ancestry.com in February of 1994 in Houston Texas, the same month as her birthday and the same location that she still lives now, and shows her parents as being Maureen & Ellison Wittels. Dr. Ellison Wittels has never been registered as a Republican at any point in his life on any records that I can find. The best I can keep coming up with is that he's unaffiliated. He's certainly not pulling back the kind of results I'd expect from a "life-long Republican."
It also doesn't seem as though he's retired. He's still listed as practicing medicine in Houston Texas, so if he retired then it's very recent because his medical license was still active all throughout 2019. Why do you need to throw your own father under the bus with a completely made-up story in order to try and make Trump look bad? Ya'll.
The worst thing about leftists is not even that they're frequently wrong, which they are, but that they're always so sure of themselves. No room for doubt at all.
The thought process is distilled down to "I'm a Democrat therefore I'm an expert" which they apply quite liberally (lol) to every subject at all times while talking over actual experts much as they accuse Trump and conservatives of doing. They vote blue, they know more than you, you dang dirty red.
These past several years have paved the way for the unholy super-marriage of unwarranted, unearned smugness and the delusional assuredness of someone who doesn't know anything but believes that they do. There was certainly no shortage of galaxy-brained idiots before '16 but oh boy are they able to be so much more vocal about shit they don't understand in that obnoxiously self-righteous tone of voice (or text; they type obnoxiously too) all of them have. Combine that with just how vitriolic, hateful, and violent their general rhetoric is towards anything perceived as an enemy and it leaves the whole situation in a weird spot where yeah, it's hilarious to watch but also kind of little bit concerning too.
Like...y'all okay? I know the answer's a mix between "yes, physically and likely financially okay" and "mentally and emotionally breaking down" so the stability of pre-'16 leftists was more or less always in question already before we even got to the gems of post-'16 shenanigans.
I don't talk politics irl because I've got better things to do, and it's usually much funnier to let leftists huff and puff and work themselves into a tizzy over the most inconsequential shit while I'm just enjoying a drink and a meal across the table from 'em. When you let them believe you're on their side they will go all-in on their craziest thoughts. Granted, not interjecting chafes a bit when every statement becomes a hyperbolic here comes the end times rant but, y'know. Y'win some, y'lose some. Changing minds is difficult when each one is a broken record screaming the same nonsense hour after hour day in and day out. I wish I had that kind of overflowing energy to devote to shit I like.
Thought I was gonna have to give Xanax to my mother in '16 when she turned into a blubbery, hysterical mess apologizing for her generation and said my generation was going to outright die because Trump beat Hillary. Nowadays she thinks she's "resisting" by obsessively reading Twitter and regurgitating hot takes while subsisting on a 24/7 diet of MSNBC to the point where, I kid you not, on vacation someone had to be sent to buy a casting device because the house's TVs didn't have the channel. She couldn't make it seven days without her nonstop news cycle fix. Cute of her, really. Pathetic and sad, but cute.

The entire party at least at the national level have lost their minds from the young members like AOC to the old ones like Bernie Sanders. There is no shortage of stupid that this election would be able to weed out.
I'd never really thought about the modern DNC like that. Most of the DNC mouthpieces I can think of are either ready for the tomb or young and inexperienced. Is it really that hard to find someone who isn't green as grass yet not old enough for crypt keeper jokes to be statements of fact rather than taking the piss?

Indeed. Could you imagine being the sort of person who takes Twitter seriously at this point? I would rather have debilitating depression. At least always thinking that the world is shit and everything is futile is a stable sort of private horror. Bouncing from panic to panic, and complaining about bouncing from panic to panic but lacking the wherewithal to actually unplug... it just doesn't bear thinking about.
"You idiot! It's not jumpy investors or a stock correction! The market is tanking from the virus, the VIRUS! How hard is it to admit? Do we have to spell it out?!‽?, oh, and the US economy slowing is, uh, not the virus, but Trump finally wrecking the late-arrive Obomeconomy!"
When are they going to learn he's making THEM say FROM THEIR OWN MOUTHS what they desperately want to avoid?

Besides Obama, so far no. That ship has already sailed. Like I mentioned elsewhere, there simply is no good standard bearer for the party right now or possibly even in the next election unless the general Democrat base starts valuing things that actually matter to the general public.
Also, even if someone gets tested for it, there has been no cure yet. For now, all people can do is manage their hygiene, keep minimal to no contact with other people, and hope they don’t get the virus. Luckily, it isn’t too deadly at the moment, but it can get deadlier if it mutates. Trump can only do so much and these people think that if he isn’t curing everyone, he’s terrible at managing this. Not to mention, state and local governments affect how the virus spreads too. These people blame Trump because it’s easy.
I'm still waiting for the chimp out that's bound to occur when they realize that urban areas will doubtlessly be the hardest hit areas, and that there's a good chance that the pandemic will be in full swing in the US around election day.
