Something much more is going on here, something we aren't being told, in my opinion. Because right now the WuFlu numbers I see don't approach the hospitalizations/fatalities for the "regular" flu.

The most recent update on the site you go by has the latest weeks flu death toll in the United States at 338 fatalities. The Covid-19 death toll in Italy ( A country of 60 million people, around 267 million less than the US) is 189 daily, and rising rapidly. You've been stuck on this being less deadly than flu for a while now, but it just isn't. Yearly global flu infection numbers are around one billion people, with a resulting roughly 650,000 deaths, a death rate below 0.1%, covid-19 is sitting around 3.5 or so last I checked. Influenza has a reproductive number of 1.3, covid-19 an estimated 2-3, making it more infectious too. Flu has a faster turnover time, but coronavirus carriers are infectious for much (weeks) longer.

Influenza has a head start thanks to being around pretty much forever, but if we treat this new coronavirus the same as we treat flu it will spread to similar numbers of people, with a much higher death rate (at 3.5%, Covid-19 only has to infect 20 million people to kill more people than flu did at 1 billion) and hospitalisation rate (1-2% compared to 10-20% for covid-19), which is why governments are focusing so much on stopping or slowing the spread.

Well no lol, the sacrament's super important to the doctrine, after all. It's also kinda funny/interesting how just about a couple years ago, the church actually decided to cut down meetings from three hours to two hours (apparently that's how it used to be way back when), but they encouraged families and members to do an hour of personal study with these... I dunno how to describe them, study guides throughout the year prepared by the leaders. It's basically Sunday school but at home, and like an extension of Family Home Evening that many members hold on Monday evenings. So in a way, we've already been preparing for not being able to go to church for a time, but it only just hit me that may have been the case.

First of, over here scientists have gone so far as to commonly substitute mentions to low IQ for "being a journo", as in using the expression "explain it to me like I'm a member of the press" when meaning "I'm missing something obvious and don't know why", the reason is due to journo's infinite capacity to focus on the most retarded part of an interview every fucking time. I'm fairly sure this is probably just the one quote they could get from an intern that confirmed their bias and they had to cut all the context around it. Gaffes happen. UK is doing contention protocol it will likely shift to slowing protocol and that's what the rest of the interview mentioned. Now, I don't know how good they'll be at it, but don't trust the media on this one. As much as I take shots at the land of tea and smog, I can tell when it's the press being asses, and this is definitely that.

I was an EMT-Firefighter during the swine flu. I remember precautions for identifying possible carriers was big in the healthcare system, but absolutely nobody talked about it and nobody cared about it if you didn't have a string of random letters going on after your last name.

This one is weird. I'm still not sold on needing to head on down to the local gun store to buy another couple boxes of ammunition, but I forsee this getting much worse than it currently is. I've gotten emails from my bank, my mortgage company, my insurance company, and my internet provider asking me to perform all tasks over the phone and to not visit their brick and mortar if it can be helped. I just got a new job this week and they're already getting me setup to work from home for the near future.

I'm not quite seeing the "empty shelves" that others are seeing in my area, but I did visit the grocery today and it was quite a bit busier than average. Our city had its first cases only a week ago. Peering into people's baskets like a nutter, I saw a lot of dry goods and baskets filled to the hilt. That's pretty uncommon for here.

My personal take as of this moment is that this will kill a not-unnoticeable swath of the elderly and the immunocompromised. By the end of this, I doubt many will be able to say they didn't know anyone who passed or weren't aware of someone losing a loved one. Economies are going to suffer by the end of this. I'm not sure we're into recession territory, but I imagine big business comes out far worse than it went in this year.

On the bright side, this might actually fix the social security and state pensions issues. On the dark side, a lot of low income people are going to be hospitalized for this and hospitals are not going to get paid for it.
