This is a clinic based in the heart of the city, and knowing what the atmosphere is like there, and having worked in the inner city myself, it doesn't come as much of a surprise to me that this is the case. Imagine the difference in staff response if the guy on the left told them to hold in their paperwork on time, and then imagine the one on the right telling them the same thing. If you don't want to give the benefit of the doubt that the doctor was telling the truth about this (she could have been lying, yes), let's not derail by focusing on this part, you can make up your own mind.

While certain appearances have shown to correlate with people assuming traits in others, that doesn't take into account several factors. Such as, if you work with someone over time, you get to know them better. Appearance will soon cease to matter in a work environment if that person is completely incompetent or lazy.

That's the fact of it. Appearance plays an initial role, but if you don't have the inner workings to back it up, it's just a shiny cover on a shitty book.
