My Take? Remember. The Governments, corporations, social media sites are lying/disinformation/censoring information on this situation. If you think you are safe because you are young guess again. A virus such as this as well are the more nasty common ones will scar your lungs up. That is what viral pneumonia can do to certain people.

It killed a few in my family so yes I know what these doctors are referring too. It's a fucking hell of way to die too as your lungs fill up with fluid. That is why I have been stating to tackle this as if it was the bad strains of flu.

Yes someone is going to say that this is a small sample and yup you are right. But as far as who is reporting this "Reuters", this has a lot more credibility than "VoX of Vice or The Guardian etc.". It puts this virus on par with everything as nasty I have dealt with when I was using that nice little yellow suit with a rebreather.

Yeah, pneumonia and other respiratory diseases will screw up your lungs as well. The difference here is that it is doing enough damage to the people who have the severe form that even young people can tell a difference.

The tldw was that containing the virus is about population control and if you send people into lockdown too early they'll get bored and come out too early and won't take subsequent lockdowns as seriously either. The problem in the states is that there's such a backorder on testing. and up until a week or so ago, it was tightly controlled by the CDC (and flawed, at that) and they restricted testing to individuals directly related to infected cases or Wuhan. Once community spread is found, a significant portion of the population has already been infected.

for certain things, closing down is probably unreasonable at this point. but imo schools are precarious, because people travel from all over to sit together in packed rooms. this is especially true after Spring Break

I promised a friend that works for a big company that has sent all of their workers home for the month to quarantine that I’d help him move on Monday. Problem is today I read that multiple people in the company have contracted Coronavirus, not him, but a co-worker of his.

Messers Valance and Whitty are both very good and very trustworthy sounding due to the fact that they drone in the responses but do not waffle. It's part of the Johnsonian/Cummings attitude to government. We don't need media personalities running things (aside from the Team Captain) and need experts in the fields that can break things down and talk and answer questions. Even if they come over as awkward.

Both of them have done some of the rounds on TV this morning as well, both appearing for interview on Sky News today to further put across their points.

So, I decided to have a wander about Pillockville today, buy a few last minute things before I go into a semi-personal lockdown and only travel for essential needs and reasons.

Toilet Paper is near picked clean, as are rice and pasta.

People are not touching useful items however, such as soups and I chose to stock up on enough of those.

Certain wipes, because they're marked for "toilet" or specific uses despite having the same ingredients are also not being picked. So I now have a ton of antibacterial wipes marked for toilet/bathroom use but can be used anywhere.

Kitchen roll is now being rationed but people were not picking those up either.

Interestingly, people are not changing their buying habits per se. Rather than pick up a larger packet of an item, they're simply doubling up what they're buying normally. There were still a half dozen 5kg packs of pasta that nobody was touching or even giving a second glance to.

Hand sanitzer was gone bar one tiny bottle nobody had noticed, so into my basket it went and now I have a more portable sanitation option for short term.

Only downside to my wandering a couple of supermarkets was some stupid old bastard coughing in my fucking face. I quickly shut my eyes and mouth and used the bottle of sanitzer to wipe my face down in full view of him. He looked at me like I'd grown a second head rather than him being a complete cunt and not even so much as covering his mouth. Everyone else I saw were more aware and coughing into kerchiefs, their elbow etc.

Also in case anyone's wondering what an alarm state would mean for spain, so are we! It's a state of up to 15 days (any more is "estado de sitio") (also note that that's 15 days since it starts not since it's declared because you can declare it will start at some other point )in which the legislative branch if the government grants extraordinary powers to the executive branch. Those powers are to be determined at the moment from a list but basically are just ways to close frontiers and restrict freedom of movement, nothing harsher than that or again it would need to be sitio. But the language is fairly vague.
