More news from the Garden State.
The total of infected numbers have reached 29, though I've heard from my brother that health officials have stated Corona-chan "should be presumed to be among us". In other words, we've likely got plenty of people who've been unknowingly spreading the love. Not too surprising. Most school districts have either closed down or are already going digital to stave off further spread, including big names like Rutgers and NJIT. The former wouldn't even close operations in a snowstorm, the assholes. Why couldn't this happen when I was there?
My biggest concern with the new cases is the one from Bridgewater; not only has the virus now set foot upon my county, the guy in question is only a year or so younger than me. I might have passed by him back in high school.
On another personal note, yesterday I was dragged off by my dad to New York once again to assist him with tech work, ended up spending the entire day there. I was in half a mind to convince him not to go, but I doubt he would ever refuse another couple hundred bucks in the pocket (didn't matter that I won't be seeing any of it). Traffic didn't feel different than usual, although drivers seem touchier with their car horns now. Then again, they're New Yorkers. Dad ended up talking with one of his clients about the Wuflu, during which I've overheard how stressed she's been as an elderly woman alone in a small apartment - she doesn't have any closet space to store supplies and doesn't cook at home, which might be a major issue down the line if shipments were to stop coming in and restaurants can no longer make takeouts. Somehow it never occurred to me before just how vulnerable city folk can be.
Once I came back home, my brother and cousins treated me like a potential carrier and demanded I immediately wash myself while they wipe down my phone and other items. Can't blame them, though I joked I'll visit their bedrooms and touch every one of their beloved possessions first. Got some laughs and only one death threat, so I'd say that's a net positive.
