Also if anyone's wondering. No, ISCIII's got nothing to do with this. The experts are all saying they were not asked and were against doing so, this is just Sanchez and the right sniffing each other's farts and going overboard for no good fucking reason against what the people they hired to tell them what to do in this case have told them what to do in this case. Again. Welcome to spain!

Catalonia had the right idea

I wouldn't be surprised whatsoever, given the timeline, if the Dems (in cahoots with China) unleased this virus. Impeachment didn't work, their candidates are all shit, they have failed time after time to take down Trump, and now they want to absolutely punish the public (NO FUN FOR YOU!).
I mean, Feinstein had her Chinaman spy driver for years.
But aren't the most affected states right now are Washington, New York, and California; don't libbies live there? It seems counter-intuitive.
>inb4 they are dummies anyway
I think the reason why China are kicking so many hornet nests (USA, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, etc.) by pushing blame/bragging about their 10-day straw huts is because they're doing the "fake it till you make it" move.

I'm glad I started running a couple months ago. I hope it made a substantial difference in my cardiovascular health. I'm able to run now longer than I did in high school.

Now that I don't want to leave the house unless it's necessary, I can't go to the gym or a park to run *sigh*
someone mentioned indoor cardios.
I might boot up my wii fit again to some runnings in-place.

More news from the Garden State.

The total of infected numbers have reached 29, though I've heard from my brother that health officials have stated Corona-chan "should be presumed to be among us". In other words, we've likely got plenty of people who've been unknowingly spreading the love. Not too surprising. Most school districts have either closed down or are already going digital to stave off further spread, including big names like Rutgers and NJIT. The former wouldn't even close operations in a snowstorm, the assholes. Why couldn't this happen when I was there?

My biggest concern with the new cases is the one from Bridgewater; not only has the virus now set foot upon my county, the guy in question is only a year or so younger than me. I might have passed by him back in high school.

On another personal note, yesterday I was dragged off by my dad to New York once again to assist him with tech work, ended up spending the entire day there. I was in half a mind to convince him not to go, but I doubt he would ever refuse another couple hundred bucks in the pocket (didn't matter that I won't be seeing any of it). Traffic didn't feel different than usual, although drivers seem touchier with their car horns now. Then again, they're New Yorkers. Dad started talking with one of his clients about the Wuflu, during which I've overheard how stressed she's been as an elderly woman alone in a small apartment - she doesn't have any closet space to store supplies and doesn't cook at home, which might be a major issue down the line if shipments were to stop coming in and restaurants can no longer make takeouts. Somehow it never occurred to me before just how vulnerable city folk can be.

Once I came back home, my brother and cousins treated me like a potential carrier and demanded I immediately wash myself while they wipe down my phone and other items. Can't blame them, though I joked I'll visit their bedrooms and touch every one of their beloved possessions first. Got some laughs and only one death threat, so I'd say that's a net positive.

Anyone ever see the 1980s movie Miracle Mile?

It's a very good movie about a guy in LA who answers a ringing payphone late at night and hears someone claiming to be in a missile silo and that America just launched it's nuclear payload.

He doesn't know for sure that it's true, but he shares this with a group people at a diner and sets off to find his girlfriend, by the end of the movie as the rumor spreads LA is engulfed in total chaos to where even if the rumor wasn't true (I won't spoil whether it is or isn't) a lot of damage has already been done.

The point is even if a danger is overblown if panic sets in that alone can do a lot of damage and that's something I worry about with this virus.

That's very much one of my concerns. This is such a news-created issue it makes me sick, but what makes me sicker is the idiotic over-reaction people are having, especially in a country (and province) with only a few hundred cases in a country of 40 million people. More people have won the fucking lotto 6/49 then will get the goddamn wu flu, let alone die from it here and already toilet paper is being cleaned out off of almost every shelf in my area. I'm going food shopping today, my normal day, and i'm afraid I am going to be cheek-by-jowl with a bunch of retards panicing and buying every bottled water (which they are welcome to) and canned product in sight, as well as all the remaining TP.

In a few weeks people are going to be so fucking embarassed, but my biggest concern is that next time something ACTUALLY dangerous (as in more dangerous then regular influenza, which this isnt) comes along and people who called 'wolf' and paniced this time around, will not react properly out of fear of looking stupid yet again. Then we WILL be in a world of shit.

Has anyone seen this retardedness yet?

Coronavirus responses, by country:
China: we built multiple hospitals in just a couple of days, now have more cured cases than active cases, and our response has been praised by the World Health Organization

Cuba: we invented the medicine being used to fight coronavirus in like a week, have tons of testing kits on standby and have been giving them to other countries, and that damn virus won't even dare show its face in our country

Vietnam: we've isolated sick neighborhoods and made sure everyone who might be infected has free healthcare, housing, and food while they're in quarantine. Our response has been praised by the WHO. We also invented our own testing kits.

The US: what if..and hear me out here, we just gave 1.5 trillion dollars to rich people for no fuckin reason, and told the poors to buzz off? We'll also ban travel between us and Europe for some reason, except for the countries we like. Quick, everyone buy toilet paper and prepare to be homeless!

Cute.
My county is ignoring it yet the neighboring county has had numerous cases.

Just came back from a Sainsbury's in south britbong - no bog roll or multivitamins, all the cheap hand soaps are gone, plenty of posh wanker soaps left though. I heard the phrase "self-quarantine" about three or so times in hushed murmurs. A surprising number of old people, and the pharmacy lass behind the counter looked pretty frazzled. Oh, and all the mega boxes of pet food are out too.

It'll be interesting to see how we handle this as it unfolds.

Guys, guys,
I feel like some of you are getting a bit carried away with doomposting. A friendly reminder that anxiety can play tricks on your mind, make sure to assess situation based on the objective facts. The virus is bad but stop treating it like a world ending zombie plague, seriously. Get some supplies, limit contact with other people whenever possible, work from home when you can, but don't go full out re:tard. Remember, panic is contagious and might cause just as much if not more damage than any virus. Keep safe and stay calm, my dear Kiwis.

Azar completely fucked this up. That's why you don't promote pharma execs to HHS.
