Like America is going to kowtow to Chinese control of the global economy and not just march in an army of coofing soldiers to “liberate” the meds
Why didn't you listen?

I could have stopped this
It's too late

Schools closing all around my area. I work in a medical device production industry so if we get anyone here with C19 we would have to shut down. Can’t wait for that to happen, why are people taking so long to spread it over here?
You would think the medical device production industry would be in overdrive atm. Unless you making stuff that isn't needed like walkers or wheelchairs. Get back in there and start pumping out ventilators and n95 mask.

Watching a bit of ESPN today, sports networks and radio stations are absolutely boned for the next few weeks/months. What they fuck do they talk about 24/7 when there is NO SPORTS? How many times can you opine on cancellations especially days and weeks after they happen? How many people want to hear the latest news about some players sitting at home who got tested positive?
TV is just gonna be reruns and movies until this is all over. ESPN will probably just mirror ESPN classic until everything is back to normal.

I posted a link yesterday to a Facebook group of people, some very well informed and educated, others not, who were looking for ways to DIY ventilation devices as well as other things that would be useful in a pandemic. Some of the posts were very interesting. For instance, there is a discussion going about a 1994 patent for allowing a single ventilator can be used for multiple patients.

It really interests me how many of these super old things are being floated in discussion; some very old medications, too. I swear I walked by someone talking about iron lungs yesterday.

In my country, the celebrity/extremely wealth to normal person ratio of infected is such that I can only assume that the barn door has been open for a very long time

Speaking of resurrecting old therapies, I wonder if serotherapy has been considered? Does anyone here know anything about the subject?
Aren't there manual ventilators? Like those blue bag things. Not that it's piratical but I would think family members would glady volunteer to manually pump there loved ones bag.

Travis AFB update

Just spotted: giant ass bus with a driver wearing full-body PPE, visor and all. The cunts are dumping MORE infected here with us. The number of quarantined people now exceeds 10% of the entire base's population, including civilians. None or few of those people have toiletries and have actually been told by people running this mess to "try to order what you need from Amazon". I doubt they're being given adequate food if they don't even have the free shit normally in the facilities hosting them. If those people want to riot, I can't honestly find it in myself to blame them.

More on top of the Oakland cruise ship people?

So here's my slight concern for the coming weeks: domestic flights in the USA. What are the odds that they'll start cancelling/restricting them? I have a family member I am supposed to visit in the middle of April, and I hope things don't explode to an exponential degree that it constitutes the shutdown of flights between states. Guess I gotta plan for the possibility, huh?

I'm not shure about manuals, but there are portables.

The evolution of this thread is fucking hilarious of people showing up in waves.

First Wave: People following this situation since day 1, Posting lots of ground zero footage and reports on Chinese quarantine and lockdown response with solid scientific information being posted.

Second Wave: Doomsday preppers of all sorts some big some small sharing tips on recipes and what kinda stuff they need to stock up on some even bragging about how they were gonna be the next survivorman hunter with their stockpile of guns and ammo while having little to no experience actually hunting anything outside of KF reaction score. Lots of vids posted about panic buyers. This wave of posters cluttered the fuck out of the thread.

Third Wave The Current One: Lots of new accounts from people whom never posted in this thread talking about the inconvenience of the virus, Super political cock measuring about Trump either doing a good or a bad job. Saddled in-between that there are a few religious nut cases who act concerned about the virus but still go to a crowded church and post bible excerpts complaining when people make fun of their religion.

I miss the first wave days that is where I learned the most and had the more interesting people posting good information now I got to slog through like 50-100 posts every time I log on to get to the good posts in the middle.

"Just" as if the flu can't kill you either (and is certainly more likely to right now), but we don't panic as much when it's widespread. I'm just not as into the hysteria, maybe?

semi tl;dr to my understanding, please correct me if anyone here knows me to be wrong:

Higher mortality rate than the flu, likely higher mutation rate than the flu, far less understood than the flu, doesn't have a vaccine like the flu, more contagious than the flu. There are a lot of variables and unknowns, and the unknown is almost always more dangerous than something we know and have a means to combat in the forms of a vaccine. The flu would be much more dangerous too if there wasn't a vaccine for it.

Sort of like how the black plague once wiped out a huge portion of Europe, but now when people get it you pump some antibiotics in them and call it a day. It doesn't mean the black plague isn't dangerous, but it's not nearly as dangerous now that we understand it.

Then again I guess the difference now is that even if the black plague was totally unknown and suddenly appeared we would still be able to handle it with antibiotics, so in a way that's a bad comparison, it would be less serious than SARS-CoV-2 in that regard.

real tl;dr

Corona-chan is like the flu but meaner and without a way to vaccinate against it.
