They just gave me the option to work from home "until further notice" and this will start on Monday. Utah just closed all of its public schools for two weeks starting Monday. Probably a smart move since Mormons breed like rabbits and there's a shit ton of kids here.

Edit: Its apparently a soft shutdown. Meaning that if you need someone to watch your kids or your kids relies on the school to get their first two meals, there will be people at the school for that.

Canada is warning against any international travel and going put into effect stronger border measures. These include:

• International flights will only be permitted to land at a smaller number of airports. Those locations have not yet been announced.
• Boats and cruise ships carrying more than 500 people will be banned from docking at Canadian ports until July.
• All travellers arriving in Canada from international points are being asked to consider self-isolating for 14 days as a precaution. People arriving from Hubei, China, Iran and Italy already have been asked to self-isolate.

Yesterday, there were automated phone calls to school staff and parents stating that schools were remaining open despite the cancellation of all non-curricular activities. Today, that district has followed the lead of many other California school districts and cancelled classes for a month, with the other local district dragging their heels on likely announcing doing the exact same thing. It's going to be interesting for awhile as many families throughout the state scramble to find daycare for the next month (assuming their jobs haven't told them to stay home or they work a position that cannot be done remotely) since the government sponsored version has been pulled out from under them with very little warning. Heck, the teachers themselves weren't even informed until after school had already ended for the day, so forget about making plans for a month of independent education; just getting whatever lessons and materials they come up with to the children is going to be fun.

And the show I was going to go see at the festival has been cancelled at the very last minute. I'd guesstimate that at least two-thirds of the performances have pulled out.
