Ironically, rainbows being queer related is a relatively new idea. Rainbows were neutrally thought of as symbols of peace and hope for centuries before it was adopted by the LGBT community. Even rainbow flags were used by other non queer countries and societies for a long while.

The way I understand it is intersectionalism run amok. Being gay nets you X amount of oppression points but also being a woman grants you X amount of points. Thus, being a lesbian puts comfortably on top of the oppression stack. It also helps that lesbians benefitted from lengthy positive media exposure compared to gay men. Especially gay men.

White people aren't above criticism, no one is above criticism.
But what's going on today isn't criticism but full on racist hate.
What's sad is what he's saying is a little more reasonable than what they say today, he is essentially saying that white and black people of the same class have more in common than white people of different classes, which there's a grain of truth to that idea.
But that's the opposite of what they say today, today they say white people of different classes have more in common than with black people of any class because of what "white privilege" has evolved to mean.
But more than what he was saying it was how he was saying it that really creeped me out, he was talking about leftist stuff but his speaking manner and tone was that of a fire and brimstone preacher, which just goes to show how social justice really does function as a Religion to some people.

IIRC, one of the main reasons why the rainbow became seen as a LGBT symbol was because the earliest years of the gay rights movement overlapped with the hippie counterculture of the late 1960's and early 1970's. Stonewall and Woodstock both happened in the summer of 1969, after all.
Rainbows were a big part of hippie iconography, and it was specifically meant to cover all the bases of the "queer" community. Every orientation getting their own pride flags came much later
Fun bit of related trivia, the "Castro Clones" and the "New Guard" of the leather scene both emerged in the 1970's as a more masculine alternative to the dominance of hippies, glam rockers, and the more "femme" gays in the LGBT community. The "Old Guard" leather men weren't really big into BDSM or kinky sex as a whole, and were mostly just gay biker clubs, greaser gangs, or veterans groups. The earliest leather clubs were founded in the 1950's by gay veterans of World War II and the Korean War and heavily overlapped with the emerging biker, rocker, and greaser subcultures of the era.
