Fwiw, my partner, who hates Trump and thinks he's not altogether there mentally, actually thinks Biden is WORSE and would be worse in this current crisis. He legit thinks Biden is quickly going senile and Trump has it together more than him. Trump, who he thinks can barely read and put coherent thoughts together.

His campaign just held some kind of live stream the other day and it was the funniest shit I've seen in weeks. He was literally just rambling incoherently half the time, the stream cut in and out, and he repeatedly walked off the fucking stage and his campaign "hid" it by making his logo just splash over the entire screen, but you can hear his voice getting more and more distant as he just ambles around the fucking room like a lost retirement home patient.
It's probably in poor taste to laugh, but fuck me that was goddamn funny.

The presumptive nominee becomes the head of the party. He's got an army of professional dem consultants organizing him, telling him where to go, which woman is his wife etc. If Biden was of sounder mind he would have taken Obama's advice like he did in 2016 and not run. Dropping out now would be a career blow to those around him dreaming of a fat White House career.

I highly doubt the DNC chair can remove the nominee unilaterally on any grounds. Once Biden has the delegates they're stuck with him as the face of the party until he loses the general or withdraws himself.
Maybe if he goes off the deep end the convention will draft Al Gore or Obama for a third term. That would be entertaining.

Well, I do think that if he really is too far gone, whomever is picked to be his running mate will be the one who'll take Biden's delegates in the event of death or becoming incapacitated by his dementia or some other illness, assuming he picks a running mate before Milwaukee.
