Fuck that noise. People circle jerking about the thread coming up to 4000 pages when 3000 pages of that is them unironically chatting about their favourite anime and voice actors.

Vic getting good numbers makes me think of the point someone else raised. He isn't currently getting the big boy cons, but the whole point (for the VAs) of getting those big boy cons is getting the dosh from the huge crowds of fans. You know people like Marchi and Rial are tripping those 'minimum autograph' limits with some of those sad lines, meanwhile Vic is getting impressive turnout even though he's consistently cranking out new invites, and the initial shiny gleam of, say, Kamehacon and Matsuricon invites are gone. Granted, the big cons are good for industry connections, but Vic's been around long enough that's not really something he would benefit from, as he either has them already or has lost them due to Sabat.

I can't help but wonder if in the long run this will actually be a big benefit to his pocketbook and fanbase. A big name in the industry keeps going to smaller cons where the fans there would never normally be able to make it to the further away 'bigger' cons that one would normally think of. This draws more people to the con than they'd usually get + exposes him to new people curious about the recognizable name. It gives fans a positive impression of him both because he deigned to come to their smaller con when others wouldn't, and because they get the opportunity to personally interact with him, offsetting the internet rumors that are easy to believe with someone you've never met.

Also, just...math. Vic is pulling big crowds at tiny cons, which means he is going to be far exceeding any minimum autograph insurance they provide, if they provide one at all. Rial and Marchi are going to bigger cons...but pulling piddling or nonexistent crowds, which means they're likely getting pinged at the minimum autograph assurance.

In the short run, due to the minimum insurance, I'm sure Rial and Marchi are making more money than Vic, due to Rial's 33 and Marchi's 19 cons being bigger than Vic's 21 smaller cons. But if the pattern continues, with Vic making cons money and Rial + Marchi costing them money, I suspect Rial and Marchi will find the bigger cons dropping their minimum assurance to match their actual lines, if not dropping Rial and Marchi completely. Vic, on the contrary, will just keep snowballing his small con invites, because he basically prints money for them, and is a recognizable name that's actually within reach of their low budget and short reach.

E3 was being cancelled before the corona virus. Was pretty obvious when the dorito/mt dew guy peaced out of hosting E3 and several studio were also nopping the fuck out. Last year leak of game journo info probably didnt endear ppl either XD. Anyway who cares E3 had become a shit fucking convention.
