Bit of a silly question but why do so many Chinese people identify themselves as 'a' Chinese rather than simply 'Chinese'? Does it have to do with how articles are translated from Mandarin? I see it often in youtube comments sections as well, like those under China Uncensored videos where people say 'As a Chinese'. It really shouldn't bother me that much but it always looks weird when reading it.

Chinese doesn't have articles and they think that moar articles = moar better in English?

Also Can confirm that Wal-marts company wide are going to 6am-11PM hours, because..reasons. I asked my Manager and..did not get an explanation that was at all related to being closed.

If I was a marketer right now, I'd be annoyed that Costco is getting all the free PR / news reports of people lining up to enter the store before open. Walmart can have lines in the store at checkout, but the visual isn't as good as a drone shot around a building.

Can anyone find a good up to date source for the state of all the Diamond Princess passengers and crew? Apparently I suck at searching.
Wiki has figures at least week out of date saying:
3,700 people, 696 infected , 7 deaths .

I thought when it first got locked down that this ship would be a really good contained experiment , with known starting points, no guessing about hidden infections etc.
So a month out from the start, we have 1% death rate among old people. Which matches up with what we've seen elsewhere.
But I'd like to see recent figures. A week is a long time in viral pandemics. Unless "they" re trying to hide something.....

Local Winco opened at 5 AM. At 8 AM, there was still a 3 hour line for people who had arrived at 5 AM to get in. Which is a moot point since the store is basically empty.

Local Kroger was doing ok. Paper towels and TP gone. Milk almost gone. Pet food gone. (Hadn't thought of that one!) Meat was decently stocked. Bread was gone.

They had police walking through the store for security. Apparently Winco did too.

Friend who had been telling me I was being silly about worrying went to the store last night. Turned away from his cart, turned back to find someone digging through his cart and taking things out. He body checked the asshole, took his stuff back, and took a few things out of that guy's cart. Apparently the asshole played dumb, like raiding someone else's cart is just something you do when shopping.

He no longer thinks I'm being silly. He does, however, think I need to stop talking about this shit around other people, as it's causing the panic.

Getting reports from family members of people leaving Portland, Boise, and other larger cities. One cousin is taking off to go camping / hunting / fishing for the next few weeks or "till this all blows over." I guess with the supply chain being gone and stores being wiped out, why not go out into the wilderness for a while?

That curve looks awful familiar by this point.

The curve sure looks familiar, but the numbers dont.

Coronavirus, when it manages to infect a group, will spread and infect like we have seen it. But notice how low Singapore's numbers are? Likely, the heat and humidity is interfering with Corona-chan's spread. Remember, singapore has had it a LOT longer then the west has, their cases stretch back to january, their first big explosion in cases in mid february, before italy's, and yet they are not up to 200 infected yet.

Because you can get infected through your eyes. Not everyone was doing it, but in some of the last videos of people doing their shopping before Wuhan shut down, a lot of people had goggles.
