Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Here is a trend I noticed in each new epicenter of the disease.

Wuhan- Wuhan Crematorium Footage (it was super hard to find this video from feb. 4th most links and postings of this video have been wiped)

Iran- Iran Morgue Beheshte Masoumeh

Italy- Italy Bergamo Lombardy Church Morgue

Who is next? my bet is on the United States.
I am guessing Spain, maybe France (or the UK or Germany), then the USA.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Source?
What false data? China gave timely notice to the world on December 31, 2019, detecting it much faster than any diversity virology team in America would. It's not China's fault Western leaders are simpering cowards terrified of closing the border for fear of fifth columnists calling them "racist".

Your government just printed out 1.5 trillion dollars to bail out merchant bankers. Shouldn't they be spending some of this on medical supplies and testing equipment? China came together and stamped out the disease, while your country tends to the needs of Jëwish financiers. Who is really practicing an "evil ideology" here?
Timely notice, lol. Remember how the government censored doctors talking about new disease?

California Governor Gavin Newsom closed all bars and restaurants, and quarantined all 65-and-older (so basically, not Tim Cook) here in California.

Last I heard, Fuhrer Newsom was just urging bars/restaurants to close, or in the case of restaurants, cut serving area by 50%.

As of today, California bars and wineries are subject to mandatory closure, restaurants have mandatory reduced capacity with social distancing seating. I have no idea how the latter is going to be enforced though, "reduced capacity" is subjective as fuck and of course restaurants will be financially motivated to disregard that directive as much as possible.

@mindlessobserver is not wrong though. I wouldn't even say that's the worst thing that is going to happen to the financial system, that is kind of a minor problem compared to some of the other problems happening.

He forgot about the airlines losses for example. But yes the consequences of this will be huge.
Japan’s big Olympic moment has been ruined.
Europe is going through economic strain that is either better than the US or dramatically worse depending on the country.
Africa, is still a ticking time bomb.
South East Asia is only going to get worse.

Every country in the G7 has been effected negatively by this. China is going to take it in the ass IMF style after this fiasco. The most moderate G7 actors will be calling for China to take responsibility, but China can’t take responsibility. So it will turn to calls for retribution.

He also said they’ll be required to use the new 6’ social distancing rules, so that’s clear enough. I assume this is all enforced by reports to the Health Department

Pittsburgh and surrounding Western PA is following suit with the restaurant closures. Liquor stores will also be closing here as mentioned earlier.

(Not war, but like serious economic punishment.)

Gonna have to put a hard :optimistic: on the possibility for no wars to come out of this. Even normie 7-11 cashiers now know about a disease started in China and how China has been lying about it and also hoarding all the medical supplies for itself. The kind of political pressure that will build to "punish china" will be couched in the predictable words of economic protectionism. "If we can't trust them to make it over there, we need to make it here". But China can't afford for that to happen. If we start to see a major roll back in investment in China, and a manufacturing realignment as major firms seek to "diversify" their industrial portfolio to "manage risk" by putting their next factory in Vietnam rather then Hunan, you will see a major retraction of the Chinese economy. And if that happens the very delicate house of cards the CCP has built over the past two decades is going to fall over.

While this is all still conjecture, what is not conjecture is what happens when an authoritarian super power suddenly finds itself in dire economic straights. Particularly one run by a megalomaniac at the head of a cult of personality like Xi Xinping. The CCP simply CANNOT take the fall for this one, and so they will blame America. Hell, they are already starting to do this and shit hasn't even gotten "really real" yet. Unfortunately history shows the kind of jingoistic fervor such actions whip up in the idiot masses. A fervor that can become difficult to control. If the Chinese people buy the lies that this is all really Americas fault, and that is why their jobs are gone and their kids don't have food, well, America had better pay for it! And that is how an adventure to reclaim "rightful Chinese land" in Formosa or the South China Sea begins. Done so of course, in the face of an America in absolutely no mood to deal with further shit from China.

Hotels/resorts with restaurants will need to keep them open to feed guests, in the restaurant, room service, or both. Can't even guess how many people are staying at hotels/resorts in CA right now.

Guess fast food places with seating capability will need to reduce seating capacity, as applicable.

I would not read too much into that. Urban areas, particularly cities with strong ties to international trade are the most at risk and they also happen to vote Democrat. Correlation =/ causation.
>democrats tend to be higher in personality trait openness, which means an interest in ideas/people
>democrats live in cities due to higher personality trait openness
>democrats want open borders due to higher personality trait openness
>democrats are water-carriers for internationalist ideology
>democrats love diversity because of openness
>etc etc
correlation is still correlation and a helpful heuristic for shit to avoid or pursue depending on your desires/aversions
racism exists for evolutionary reasons
sexism exists for evolutionary reasons
and the exaptation of human disgust sensitivity from things like corpses and feces to things like religion and politics is not a mistake.
bad ideology can lead to your entire city getting sick. if your ideology kills you, then it's in reality more dangerous than actually being sick as an individual.

Ironically fast food will probably be fine. Most of their sales are from Drive Through.

I can't be the only one thinking all these mass shut downs are getting a little ridiculous right? Yes, it's not "just the flu" but at this point it's insane how nearly everything is effectively being set up for financial ruin. The damage from this past week alone is astronomical, I don't know how a lot of companies are going to survive the potential month or more from this.

There are some new restaurants having grand openings near me, and I know the rents in this area have culled out most of the older businesses. These new places likely have no clientele, can’t profit off the new occupancy rate reductions, and are likely screwed by unfortunate timing

We all had really sore throats at home today. Turns out the air indoors is just really dry. We went walking and it's humid outside and our throats cleared up no problem. Don't jump at shadows, kiwis. Always look for explanations.

I don't see any wars coming out of this, either.

But I sure do see a lot of governments demanding that their companies either pull out of China entirely, and/or move part of their operations somewhere else. Can also see governments demanding their companies either find at least one more source for things formerly obtained from China, or rework their products to use little or no parts/substances from China.

Hate to say this, but as far as trade goes this virus came at a good time for the rest of the world. If the trend toward making everything and getting seemingly everything from China had gone on for five years or so longer, China would have had much of the world over a barrel. Caught it just in time. Things can be rectified, albeit with cost and effort. Also believe we may see changes to the "just-in-time" parts/supplies inventory system, if the parts/supplies come from a foreign country. Companies worldwide have let the supply chains get too long, with these results.

China can blame America all it wants, but they've lost the propaganda war on this one. Wasn't Americans who arrested Chinese doctors. Not Americans who welded doors to Chinese people's living compounds shut. Wasn't Americans who tossed Chinese people into a windowless metal box on the back of a pickup truck. Simply too many YT, Twitter, and other videos for all the world to see that the CCP can't get to.

China still doesn't know what to do with Hong Kong, either. No good solutions from where Emperor Xi sits.

China still must contend with the ongoing siege of African swine flu, which has killed millions of pigs, and an avian flu which kills poultry.

Add the viruses to all the other problems China has, and we see China was never ten feet tall, as some made it out to be. China has definite feet of clay, if not actually being a paper tiger.

Ironically fast food will probably be fine. Most of their sales are from Drive Through.

Ya, until some people don't have money to buy the food.

Getting a little late here...folks, if you pray, pray for those suffering from the virus, and those now facing a loss of income. Pray for your national leaders, that they will do their best and do the right thing for the country. Just a thought.

This place is a Petri dish. The Governor is doing the right thing.

At least one not so grim bit of news out of China. This is Polly Flower Garden, a Chinese Dance/Cosplay/Anime/Kpop performance group that is reasonably well known. They are from Wuhan. While they haven't been able to get together for awhile, they figured out how to produce something. And happily they don't appear to be dead. Be warned Chinese Youtube equivalent BiliBili. I have no idea how to embed or archive.

Governor confirms first 'community spread' coronavirus case in Iowa

(Des Moines) -- Public health officials say a new case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Dallas County and they cannot determine how or where the person got it.

Officials use the phrase “community spread” to describe that and Governor Kim Reynolds is asking Iowans to avoid gatherings of more than 250 people.

“Due to the detection of community spread, there are new recommendations for individuals with underlying conditions and all Iowans should be prepared for cancellations and disruptions in routine activities,” she said this evening.

Many Iowa churches had already cancelled Sunday services. While the governors of Illinois and Wisconsin have ordered schools to close, Reynolds is not taking that step.

“There’s so many rippling effects that come from that and they still tend to have social mixing outside of the schools,” Reynolds said. “When we close down the schools, it impacts the workforce, it impacts daycare.”

Reynolds said parents often have to rely on relatives to step in and children may then spread the virus to their grandparents. Reynolds is asking school officials to make decisions about school closures on an incident by incident basis. If a student, staff member or visitor to a school tests positive for COVID-19, Reynolds is suggesting school officials only cancel classes for a few days for cleaning to mitigate the spread of the virus.

“If there is significant absenteeism of staff and students, they should consider a short-to-medium length suspension of two-to-four weeks,” she said, “or for substantial ‘community spread,’ and we are not there yet, we would begin to look at longer suspensions of four-to-eight weeks or more.”

Governor Reynolds, who held a rare Saturday evening news conference, asked Iowans to remain calm and she emphasized that 80 percent of those who get the virus will have mild to no symptoms.
