They paint their lives as some struggle against _phobes and constantly talk about mental illness to other strangers on the internet, if not that then they're upsetting themselves over the latest outrage circulating in their social groups. Probably because it was remarkably progressive in some cases for a manga written in 1995. Ignoring the stupid shipping things, the first part's antagonist try to kill the boss because two of their probably gay friends get murdered (the ones cuddling in the upper right of that picture), and two obviously homosexual fighters show up later with their relationship shown in a sympathetic light.

This isn't good enough for the Tumblr crowd, but it is an inch they use to take a mile.

I'm going to be honest and say it's because it's a male centric show, and since most Tumblr and Twitter users are women who most likely unironically said "seme" and "uke" as a teen, they essentially make everyone gay for the shipping and YAOIZ.

No, it is definitely not even close to the same color as the rest of his skin. I looked up the character and he appears shirtless/tatooless in earlier versions so it is probably just a shitpost on their part
