Random Thoughts & Questions: MrEnter Edition

I don't think he's entirely wrong with his point about cliffhangers. They are a tool that can be used to build suspense and create a feeling of anticipation for the reader or the audience. I also agree that creating a cliffhanger that will never be resolved is a terrible move. The 'who shot Mr. Burns' episode is a good example of an effective cliffhanger, but if it hadn't been resolved I imagine that a lot of people would have been very upset.

That doesn't mean that they're bad though. What irritates me is how he claimed that the only place where a cliffhanger would be effective is in a novel, where the cliffhanger is resolved quickly in the next chapter of the book.

It seems like he's trying to justify why he's continuing work on his novel and his unfinished game. It seems as though he's claiming that his novel and game are bad because they ended with cliffhangers, therefore his game and novel aren't bad, cliffhangers are bad.

Well, even Mr. Enter isn't retarded enough to miss simple, obvious points such as, "Don't write a cliffhanger if you're not going to resolve it!" I mean, he'd have to be lobotomized to get that wrong.

True, but I doubt that he realizes that a lot of the time cliffhangers are used as a bit of a power move, which is why many are unresolved. When the Simpsons used their cliffhanger, the writers were basically saying "our show's getting renewed for another season so we can do a cliffhanger and resolve it.", other shows made by egotistical people create cliffhangers that don't get resolved because they tried to do the same thing and failed.

It's like how Firefly ended on a bit of a cliffhanger because Joss Whedon was certain that even though the show was getting cancelled it would eventually get renewed.

I only watch Enter for his massive amount of riffing on nick. Other then that I don't find much to enjoy about the guy.

I think that part of that is intentional. He wants to be a cynical critic who people dislike because he disagrees with their opinion. I think that at some point the act and his true self started to blur together.

I've seen that sort of shit happen time and time again and not just with Enter either. I wouldn't be shocked if Enter had intended it to be that way at first but became more and more of the character and started to play it up overtime to get more attention.

This review is aload of shit.

Isn't he always complaining that Family Guy never takes itself seriously or examines its characters? But when he watches an episode where they actually do that, it pisses him off? Make up your mind, Enter.
That seems to be his biggest turn off about FG actually. He gets all butthurt whenever they do stories like this every time.

To be fair, I didn't enjoy that episode either.

The characters were purposefully limited in this episode to the two main characters, which are both voiced by Seth Macfarlane. Which meant that the entire episode was essentially Seth's way of saying "See, I can be dramatic. I can add depth to my characters with my stellar animation and fantastic script. No other voice actors can add depth to a character like I can, so that's why they're not in the episode."

Essentially, the episode was a poorly written melodramatic ego-trip. Which is why I dislike it. Then again, I dislike modern Family Guy in general.

Well, I wasn't very well convinced that cliffhangers could be the devil up until Mr.Enter revealed that he never followed up on the cliffhanger he wrote in middle school. Now that just changed my entire opinion. If child with RPG Maker couldn't pull off a cliffhanger, I won't even try.

There's a difference between an unfinished game, and a game that purposefully ends with a cliffhanger. Also, didn't Enter make the game in high school?

Personally, I thought the episode was somewhere between watchable and awful. I mean, the concept of using this episode to really develop these characters works, and the scene where they get drunk is kinda funny, but when they try getting dramatic and edgy, it fails.

That being said, MrEnter's review sucks, he cries about getting triggered by diapers again (the first time was in a Spongebob episode), he spends most of the review whining about pointless shit and only mentions the biggest problems in passing, and he has to beat a dead horse by complaining about SSP for the umpteenth fucking time.

This is kind of a nitpick, but is it just me or was the editing on this page worse than usual? It seems a little messy, I mean not Jediuser messy, but pretty sloppy for Enter standards.

@Reverend_Lovejoy: Alternately, Seth wanted to explore the relationship between Brian and Stewie, which is why no other characters are in the episode.

He already did that numerous times in the 'Road to' episodes. In one of them Stewie and Brian bond while giving Brian's mom a proper burial. There was also numerous episodes where their relationship was explored before and after 'Brian and Stewie'. Which essentially made the episode redundant.

@Reverend_Lovejoy: Shouldn't those episodes be redundant, too, quite frankly?

The fact remains, though, that it was sort of a character drama carried off, actually, kind of well.

I won't argue anymore about the episode. In the end I think that if you like the episode then you're entitled to your opinion. If I don't like the episode then I'm entitled to my opinion. Arguments were made for both sides.

Let's stop now before we start to act like Enterbots and submit our own reviews for cartoons.

Not sure if the person who made this is very Autistic and faps to Mr. Enter or if they are trolling him.

Would not be surprised if Mr. Enter was in support of the #actuallydivine lolcows since I would not be surprised if he "identified" as "actually divine" due to his massive ego.
