The lack of life skills taught in today's schools is utterly horrifying. The fact that schools are more focused on teaching seven different kinds of math that most kids will never, ever use, and not how to feed themselves, how to do their taxes, or write a resume is appalling, and I wish that when politicians talked about education reform, they meant shit like this.
Of course, if this was brought up, schools would just say that it would fall on the shoulders of the parents to teach kids stuff like that. They're not necessarily wrong, but when most parents are too busy working sometimes multiple jobs just to keep their heads above the water since wages haven't kept up with the cost of living, they unfortunately don't really have the time to do such.
It sucks, but it's how things are nowadays.
Anyways, my point is that if kids are going to stuck in school for eight hours a day, they should at least be learning something useful, and not the useless bullshit their being taught now.
