Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Why did Italy get hammered so hard in particular? It doesn't strike me as a major travel nexus or anything
Few reasons
  • Big tourist destination - number 5
  • Sweatshop Chinese who were imported to do work making fashion items.
  • Aged population
  • Slow government response
  • It's filled with fucking Italians who don't do what they are meant to do and ignore bans/advice- Case in point (note, that article was written as of 4 hours ago, Not 4 weeks, 4 HOURS!).

South Coast Plaza in California has shut down for 2 weeks because someone tested positive for the Coronavirus. South Coast Plaza is one of the largest malls in Southern California and it attracts crowds of customers every day. It's near an airport so lots of business people come from the airport and go to this mall. I'm surprised South Coast didn't shut down a week ago.
Then again- from what I've seen on Twitter, South Coast Plaza has been more of a ghost town lately, so I'm hoping it stayed that way since then.

This.

The lack of life skills taught in today's schools is utterly horrifying. The fact that schools are more focused on teaching seven different kinds of math that most kids will never, ever use, and not how to feed themselves, how to do their taxes, or write a resume is appalling, and I wish that when politicians talked about education reform, they meant shit like this.

Of course, if this was brought up, schools would just say that it would fall on the shoulders of the parents to teach kids stuff like that. They're not necessarily wrong, but when most parents are too busy working sometimes multiple jobs just to keep their heads above the water since wages haven't kept up with the cost of living, they unfortunately don't really have the time to do such.

It sucks, but it's how things are nowadays.

Anyways, my point is that if kids are going to stuck in school for eight hours a day, they should at least be learning something useful, and not the useless bullshit their being taught now.

I'm sorry, but that's gigantic bullshit. 90% of functional adults can do their taxes. It's not that hard. Grated, the US might be a third world country in that regard (too), but at least here it's dead simple. Add some numbers, fill in a form, don't be fucking stupid.

A lot of the stuff you mention is probably there on the syllabus. Didn't you have home econ? Because I did. I ended up using physics when I worked at a car dealership because hey, electric cars. It's good to know what amperage is. The problem is just that teenagers are mouth-breathing dumbfucks and the entire top floor is closed for renovations. "Life skills" won't help much there.

Read a novel and learn calculus. Get some culture.

Good! There really is no need to keep the mall open as they are a huge congregational spot.

A person who worked in one of the retail stores tested positive for COVID at Queens Center Mall in Elmhurst NY. Here is the kicker, they served food..

Don't forget they love to smoke.

12 hours??? Holy shit dude are you reaping, threshing and milling the wheat or what? When I make bread it takes 2 hours at most. What am I missing?
When I make bread, I make a poolish (half flour, half water, yeast, maybe salt at this point to inhibit yeast overgrowth) and let it ferment overnight or longer on a cool counter or in the fridge. Then I take it out, add flour/salt to make a true dough, knead and let it rise. It’s better, but it takes a long time

That's why I can't believe it was still open. It's the busiest mall in Orange County. From what I read they stayed open until 7 pm. They most likely cared about making money over keeping workers and shoppers safe. That place makes so much money.

But if they did that, then there wouldn't be time to teach them about 50 different genders and all the sexual positions they need to try before they reach puberty.

My local nursing home is taking the temperature of anyone who goes in, so they can block anyone with a fever. Sounds good, right? But the mail carriers are refusing to have their temperatures checked, so they can't deliver the mail... not even prescription meds. Hopefully just a temporary fuckup, and nobody has to go a month without their meds...

Putting your hands near your mouth to suck on that tiny dick full of Nicotine probably doesn't help with that.
The average person touches their face, what, 20-something times an hour? Also considering how smoker fingers smell, I doubt Corona-chan can survive the smoke bombardement from tiny fingertip Auschwitz
