Wuhan Coronavirus: Lockdowns, Quarantines, Cancellations

It is beyond exceptional to think that all medical experts the world over, in addition to governments, big businesses, and everyone else with everything to lose from a shutdown are doing it just on uninformed panic. You wanting it to be just the flu doesn't make it so.

If you don't believe the medical experts, fine. It's exceptional, but lots of people are exceptional about that shit for some reason. Governments are corrupt and inept, so whatever.

But big businesses only care about money. They make decisions based on what gives them the most money, and nothing else. They don't give a flying fucking shit about human life, and they have enormous resources at their disposal to model exactly what they can do to maximize their money. If they could push a button to kill all boomers they would do it if it maximized their profits. Do you really, really think these niggas are taking the financial hit of shuttering everything for a few weeks for no actual reason? Because if so you're so dumb you should probably be in a care home of some kind.
No, there is an actual reason. First off, the government has been essentially forcing big businesses to do this, or the businesses could be in cahoots with them, you know, like hiding anti-MSM Twitter trends, or prioritizing news reports on the 2016 election etc. in YouTube search results. The government could even have been making them play along so they can bail them out later.

Okay, so my theory is that the western world powers are actually in cahoots to rebuild trust in government or some other ulterior motive. There's a lot more to my theory, but here are the main points:
  • Mass disaffection in recent years, especially in the western world, for various reasons: all those DNC scandals in the US, immigrant crisis in Europe, etc.
  • Make "pandemic" and play it out exactly like a pandemic movie, also highly suspect
  • Suddenly, the government has everyone's attention
  • Everyone, consciously or not, goes in lockstep with what the government says, even with blatant cognitive dissonance/denial like @Paragon and attacking blatant liberal strawmen instead of what was actually posted.
  • Government "helps" everyone out of the ensuing economic and societal crisis and suddenly everyone's faith in government is restored, having a cover for why the economy and society got completely fucked in the first place.

So Schleswig-Holstein just killed all tourism by sending everyone home. People have until tomorrow to leave. Restaurants will be closed, too.

And in my district (2 cases) only groups under 10 people are allowed in public. In private it has to be under 50 people. Funerals (public) with up to 50 people are still allowed. Use of public transport and going to work is still allowed, for those who can't work from home.

Basically, stay the fuck home and watch Netflix, you fuckers.

Still does not explain why they would choose a plague over terrorists. This makes "jet fuel can not melt..." and
"protocols of zion " look very possible by comparison.

They could just do the same over durka durka or OMG INCEL SHOOTING with a fraction of the economic cost.

That's exactly the point.

this is probably gonna sound incredibly weird from an outside perspective but i have this feeling that after all is said and done Italy will have gained a lot from this experience
for example, our educational system and our work culture have been far behind other european countries for the longest time and this has been the perfect occasion to start implementing more seriously the option to work remotely for jobs that have the chance, recorded/online classes are becoming a thing and in general there's this tendency to approach more flexible methods of doing things from home that would have taken years to be implemented in any other situation
other than that, it's no secret that old people are the main victims of the covid, and italy has an overwhelmingly old population, second only to japan, which costs the state a ton of money
now, good reforms would be a better solution, obviously, but if killing off people who don't have many years left anyways can be used to benefit our economy, then so be it for gods sake!
there's also this interesting situation where China and the EU are having this dick-measuring contest to see who gives us the better and quicker assistance, making it way easier for us to handle many of the economic/sanitary issues that might have ensued otherwise
and to end on a positive note, it's also funny seeing people using their balconies as a way to socialize with the neighborhood, it used to be a more common practice here back in the day and i find it wholesome how its being brought back

economy will be hurt by this, of course, but i think its best to see this as an opportunity to try new things and exploit the situation rather than panic looking at the stock market

oh, and also no immigrants, another problem that was solved better by the goddamn flu than by a premier who made them his whole campaign program

I'm not sure if it counts for this thread but the Detroit bus drivers have struck because they don't want to coof.

Fuck you stupid assholes, How are the people who are still going to work, to do essential shit like PUT FOOD ON THE SHELF FOR YOU TO BUY supposed to do that now.

And they would want to loose money why?
Try reading my post.

The "they're taking urr freedomz" take is the stupidest thing I've read since the latest quote from DSP. Every medical professional from every conceivable side of politics is recommending people stay the fuck away from each other to limit exposure and spread. This advice is based on hundreds of years of science and study on disease behavior. COVID-19 is new and comparatively little is known about it so going to a baseball game is ill-advised regardless of your political views. The virus doesn't give a shit. If you're still screaming about your right to linger on some street corner without realizing that said right is not being taken away and that the responsibility to reduce exposure falls on everyone then I think you're beyond help.
These are two things that are not mutually exclusive.
  • Rights are being eroded by TPTB under the guise of safety and the greater good.
  • CV is a genuine biological threat to the population and self isolation is a prudent move to mitigate a pandemic.
Probably both true and people should be concerned about both.
People should be choosing to self isolate and not be selfish cunts, rather than having it enforced on them. (Rate me rainbows, i know).
But I'm still concerned that shady governments will use this as an excuse to ratchet down freedom of movement, freedom to congregate, instigate martial law etc. Or at least soften people up to the idea. A pandemic is an awfully convenient threat. I'm not saying NWO FEMA camps, just that there's a risk of freedoms being eroded by the back door.

Ok, I'll take my tinfoil hat and see myself out now.

>forcing personal views and mandates on others and ignoring consequences
>claims to hate totalitarianism

government: gatherings of 50 or more people are now illegal.
citizen: people should have the right to choose to quarantine themselves or risk getting sick, what you're doing is totalitarian.
government: NO YOU'RE the totalitarian for trying to FORCE people to have the right to make their own decisions!

You're not tinfoiling. I actually was thinking the same thing, and how as we move closer to a possible, dystopian/utopian future that things like this can give a formula or pattern to follow. The virus was already in spread since late 2019, and everyone was perfectly fine to do whatever then. Now, as they have finally become aware of shit that was known underground for a while, it's become panic mode. It shows how dumb the majority become, and how easy it really is to get them to fall in line.

We've received reports of not having gatherings involving more than 10 people, from people in rooms with potentially hundreds of them lol Asymptomatic people don't even get tested, unless they've been in close contact with someone who tested positive with symptoms. It all makes zero sense the more you think about it, but it still has incited mass fear. The guidelines given to protect are basically wash your ass and your hands, which is what reasonable adults already do. More people have masks on that I'd typically see from the Asian community, and that's because many (Asians) came from areas that are full of pollutants and horrible air quality.

Your right to act like a dumb fuck does not override another person's right to have their exposure limited. Find something else to do with your time for three to six months.

It might be panic mode but at least here in the UK is feeling like a fairly enjoyable panic. Most people don't know anyone who is seriously ill, they get to fight over toilet roll and they get to complain about the inconveniences. People love that shit. For want of a better phrase it's the most ego-syntonic crisis I can imagine.

Soon I'm expecting the media to run stories shaming the people who are not 'doing their bit' and self isolating like everyone else, which will foster a sense off collective smugness in those who are being responsible and doing as their told. Much like the social shaming around not reducing your carbon footprint and recycling. The masses will be nudged into identifying with their restricted movement, rather than seeing it as imposed on them.

Ok, ok. I'm probably tinfoiling now.

I'm telling you, this is going to age great in a week.
