Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Okay this is a question I need to get answered asap:
I got a package from Hong Kong I ordered beginning of December last year.
It came in an air tight package. You know those plastic-elastic dhl packaging. When it arrived I wore mask and protection goggles. I packaged it now 3 times in a garbage back and put it somewhere safe outside my apartment. How long you guys think I should wait before opening the package?
I don't want to die to Corona-Chan.
Edit: forgot to say it was sent from Hong Kong on the 10th of March.

Corona-chan already has her thighs around your head. Breathe deep and embrace your fate.

If you have a disinfectant spray at all, hose that sucker down, let it dry out, then open it up with your gloves etc. If you have anti-bac wipes use them, or steam heat it using hot water/kettle if you can if its not sensitive electronics etc.

That being said, if it was in plastic DHL packaging and only just arrived now... it's likely any coronachan particles on it are dead as they don't last too long on surfaces.

Viruses can only live on surfaces for a relatively short period of time. If the package spent more than a day or two in transit, then it was probably fine the minute it arrived. If you still want to be a faggot about it, wipe everything down with alcohol and wash your hands right after.

I mean, if you did test positive the doctor is probably just going to tell you to go home, self quarantine, and head to the ER if you start to have trouble breathing. If I got sick right now there would be no official statistics on me unless I die suddenly and they test my corpse.
Exactly healthy people who don't know what it is (cold? Allergies? Flu?) and recover aren't in any of the statistics. It is only the bad cases and those that failed a screening. Unless you are having severe issues who would want to through all the reporting bullshit anyways?

So. A bit more relaxed now. I'm on page 884 lol. Here are a few news and thoughts.

Someone from spanish center for biotech investigation just had an interview with "todo es mentira", a sort of fact checking news program thing. He mentioned that they know corona mutates slower than the flu (which is good) and that the version that got to spain is different from the one in Wuhan. (Which is bad), this btw @Male Idiot might be why your government is being so insistent with the viral isolation. It's likelt the strand that hit the Balkans was also another mutation, and hence they were the first to isolate that one. Wether or not this impacts research is dependant on how different these mutations are but if it's enough your gov might've just managed to do a vital step for the balkan's situation. Semper fi!

Either way to all y'all OH NOES MUTATIONS ARE SCAWY. Take a fucking chill pill. He mentioned mutations have not been proven to affect rate of infection or lethality. Which is what happens most often. And yes btw this rate of mutation is still significantly slower than the flu. Which is why the flu is so fucking scary to epidemiologists.

Personal update. Head's killing me. Throat too. My infected family member is doing fine outside of the government's mess affecting stress levels, I take stress worse than she does. So it's probably not Corona-chan. But I feel like a truck just ran me over all the same. Need to study but focusing right now is a massive effort. Today was harsh on us. Neighbors are making a communal concert for the neighborhood. It sounds good, so right now I'm enjoying the music with the window open. Life is beautiful. Never forget to treat yourself and your loved ones sometimes.

Embrace Papa Nurgle's little girl.

Forgot to mention on my last post. The guy from spanish ncbi explained what kind of vaccines the USA and china are using for their dick measuring contest. Quick recap:

-USA went straight for mra vaccines, which have NEVER BEEN USED IN HUMANS BEFORE. They're fast and cheap to make and safe to boot so that's probably why they went for that shit, they're treating this like a competition. But it's risky, chances of the vaccine being useless are high.

-china went for new gen non-viral vaccines, they are a little less safe, a little slower to make and equally about as likely to be completely worthless. They are also easier to make, so that's probably why they used them. They're betting on luck (or lies) going to a lower-tech equally-dumb competition rush. At least these type do have some precedents in humans. Then again that's due to being less tech-intensive.

Either way both are going for a high-risk aproach to rushing vaccinations for international diplomacy points. And either way even if they succeed in vaccinating one version it's likely the mutations make them worthless for most of the planet, so I prefer the aproach Europe is taking of focusing on treatment options and leaving vaccinations to the morons. It's likely to work better. Slow clap for our global overlords!

Boil it your hoard of lye. Only way to be sure. But your premise is false. That package didn't come from HK. The population of mainland China has been dead for weeks.

But seriously, just open it ya pussy.

USDA fag threatens a guy's access to any food rations, should it come to it, for disagreeing with him on twitter.
This dude's apparently a serial liar about his government employment/connections but naturally still has a blue checkmark.

Unlike (apparently) Europe, we can walk and chew gum at the same time. Calm your tits a little.

Travis AFB update

The David Grant base hospital may possibly switch to minimal manning "sometime soon". This would include orders for those who can work from home to finally fucking do so. We already have community spread on the base that has infected at least one spouse, so what the hell are they waiting on to happen to make the change? It will likely be too little too late if they ever get the order. Is it going to be 24-hour ops, minimal manning or some combination, brassman? Make up your tiny, exceptional little mind already before you somehow manage to make things even worse than they already are.

(This thread puts me 20 pages behind every time I wake up and my sanity can't handle doing this all day long; I give up on that. Though I intend to continue putting out updates on what I find out regarding the base.)
