Elon Musk defying shelter-in-place orders in the San Francisco Bay Area, and direct orders from the sheriffs department to shut down because his factory is not an essential business. Sheriffs appear to be baffled and not sure what to do as far as enforcement. Doing their jobs is too hard, it appears.

Boris Johnson just closed most UK schools from Friday. The exception is for children of 'keyworkers' - basically people who work in the NHS, police or armed forces and other public sector stuff which is vital to infrastructure. (Archive)

Schools in the UK are to shut from Friday until further notice as a response to the coronavirus pandemic, the prime minister has said.

Schools will close except for looking after the children of keyworkers and vulnerable children.

It comes after Scotland and Wales said schools would close from the same day.

Schools in Northern Ireland are expected to close to pupils immediately and to staff from Monday, Stormont sources say.

It comes as UK deaths reached 104 after the NHS said a further 32 people had died in England.

The government says it plans to more than double the number of tests being carried out in England to 25,000 a day.

Confirmed cases in the UK rose to 2,626 on Wednesday, from 1,950 on Tuesday. There have been 56,221 tests carried out in the UK for Covid-19, of which 53,595 were confirmed negative.

Okay, first German city under lock down. Mitterteich, a city in Bavaria, has now a curfew which is supposed to last until April 2nd.

I had a fucking coworker called while I was working....its been 48hrs and shes BORED. So she thought it was appropriate to not just call the store number but my phone, my bosses phone and text us both!!!!
Shes a boomer with 3 dogs and lots of time and money. I dont have time for this, watch netflix and fuck off! Learn to be alone cause theres probably another 2 months of this.
I personally do just fine all alone. I cant imagine needing social interaction outside of work this badly.

According to the articles, the Big Three (Ford, GM, and Chrysler) employ 150,000 factory workers in the USA, mostly in Michigan. That does not count workers at supply plants, which will also be shut down because of this.

Restaurants are limited to take-out, drive-thru, and delivery. Also closed are "theaters, casinos, cafes, coffee houses, bars, taverns, brewpubs, distilleries, clubs, indoor and outdoor performance venues, gymnasiums, fitness centers and recreation centers" until Monday, March 30.
Assemblies of over 250 50 are banned, K-12 schools are closed, and hospitals are closed to visitors (except parents of minors and relatives of the dying) and non-essential staff, all until Sunday, April 5.
Prisons are closed to visitors until further notice.
Detroit bus drivers are on informal strike (last I heard).

France decided to start fining people for breaking quarantine yesterday . In typically Macron styled efficiency, it was initially a massive, whopping €35. Today he's raised it to show he's serious... to €135. Why? Because frogs would rather pay €35 to go out and eat cheese and drink wine. Typically limp wristed response by Macron.
