Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Does anyone else feel like they over panic bought? I bought four 1 oz (29 ml) hand sanitizers last week for my family of three, one of whom basically never leaves the house anyway, and I'm realizing now I definitely did not need that much.
If people in your circle end up needing it then pass it along. As long as nothing goes to waste, it's all good. In come areas hospitals are asking for donations of PPE.
Lots of panic buyers have started second guessing their loads....but we're only about a week in here. Hearing all kinds of different reports throughout the US where some distribution centers are gutted, others are functioning like normal. For most foods we don't have to worry too much. A LOT of food is made in the US. Funky stuff may not be imported in any large quantity any time soon, and pretty much anything protective or decontaminating is going to get pulled and given over to hospitals and centers before hitting shelves. Hearing numerous nurse complaints that they aren't being given masks, even when theyr're working with large patient quantities. Supposedly some are told not to take their own masks in from home because it makes people feel 'uncomfortable'.

I'm growing less and less optimistic that China will actually receive any lasting flak by the end/aftermath of this global shitshow. They're got their nasty Commie tentacles wrapped around every country and have already been making gliding efforts to get the press to do their dirty work in deflecting any blame thrown their way (most infamously with the "muh racism" bullshit) as well as tricking others with "good deeds" like with the Italy supplies thing (and given how they blared the Commie's theme with praises and claps, it's sadly working).

So as great as it would be if the world collectively flipped China the bird, their sensibilities are sadly too deeply ingrained into the people that would make such an action possible...
Just wait 'til they magnanimously step up to "save" afflicted countries in Africa. That's the real plague.

A cashier told me that customers are screaming at them because people are trying to buy more than the limited amounts of items they're allowed to get. It makes me feel bad for the cashiers during this time. They must get screamed at every day because the spoiled entitled customers can't get what they want.

The assholes are definitely going to be thriving at a time like this and they're definitely going to keep mistreating cashiers and retail workers.

As someone who's done their time in retail hell, my heart goes out to all those unsung heroes. Try to imagine every day, every shift, being an unholy combination of the day before Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve simultaneously with no clear end to the chaos in sight. And that's on top of being at a heightened risk of catching a terrible pandemic disease out of sheer exposure odds.

God be with all of them. :semperfidelis:

So this Trump Bux shit looks like it's completely throwing off what the political parties give a shit about.

Trump wants to give everyone yang bucks, demands it from the house, Dan Crenshaw tweets earlier that "hey, maybe we should try to save a little money and just give it to poor people" and Pelosi uses the same argument to block it.

It's fucking bizarre because they're in full panic mode too and are starting to forget their pretend politics. Wonder if the two party system will die of corona-chan?

Probably :optimistic: :optimistic: :optimistic:

In this case it was an entitled customer who tried to buy more than the limited amount of meat for each customer. They threw a fit because they tried to take extra. Because screw other people who need the items, it's all about them.
What a bunch of dicks. And I know it's obviously a regular thing.

Mr H is playing Doom(2016) and pointing out 'there's nothing to do around here because even if you're not in lockdown everyone else is' also 'there's no food around here which is a shame because I like food. I eat a lot'. So he's locked in and playing ultraviolent video games.

Peak coronapocalyse right there. I wish I still liked playing things like Doom to be honest, especially as Doom Eternal is coming out soon.

Received this earlier today. US Markets respond to public health crises predictably.

I work in retail during the day, and let me tell you - I want to go in to isolation more to get away from these dumb-asses. I legitimately had a customer say this virus is 'inconveniencing them'. Like, sure, find out who to complain to about that.

The Yangbux idea wasn't new, Nixon wanted to do it back in 1969. Democrats, for their crocodile tears about standing up for the poor, hate the idea because it would mean unemployed government workers and they employ them by the thousands in big Democratic stronghold cities which, not coincidentally have the largest number of unemployed people.

They really don't have a choice with the economy being shut down at this point.

Here's what I got from CureMilquetoast's post. Thanks for the great maps.

CONCLUSION People with blood group A have a significantly higher risk for acquiring COVID-19 compared with non-A blood groups, whereas blood group O has a significantly lower risk for the infection compared with non-O blood groups.

Interesting, if correct. Have a hard time believing anything out of China.
The less flattering something out of China is, the more likely it's accurate.
Those maps don't sit right with me, though. I know that North and South American natives are about 80% type O and hispanics are 60% type-O, but the highest concentration of type-A is European for sure.
Anyway, USA #1!

Whatever you do, if you're trying to stay calm during this DO NOT watch or read anything "Moe Othman" has to say about it. Very stress inducing if you have even the tiniest belief in Illuminati and NWO stuff. Might explain why businesses are closing and the government is wanting to hand out money like it doesn't even matter, because it doesn't.

I have a sore throat. I shall prepare for all the thoughts and prayers that I'm sure to recieve.

So the grocery store I work at raised all their prices due to the virus. The management had printed flyers for this past week for sales for St Patrick’s day. They said fuck that shit and have refused to honor the sales the past few days that it was posted. I’m not going to work there after this virus dies out due to them being huge scumbags and the treating the customers like shit for complaining about the bait and switch. Keep in mind this is a small local chain with about 20 stores in the Midwest.

If you're in one of the states with anti-price gouging laws, you may want to check and see if your franchise is in violation, in addition look to see if promoting sales then not honoring them is in violation of any states laws. If you're going to quit, might as well go out with a bang.

Yup, and let the local news media know. They like a nice story.
