Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

I have no intention of "white knighting" anyone. She was looking for a platform to tell her side of the story and I provided it. That doesn't mean I'm taking any side. I'm not offended tho. I don't come here to make friends. I find an outside perspective to be useful in staying grounded. Martina never disclosed how much money is left but I assume there's enough to cover some expenses. She says she will release the comic out of pocket. I hope that works out. I hate to see our great comic fans pay for a product and not receive it.

I'm not making any claims about her artist. I don't know him. I only have her side of the story that we discussed on the stream last night. She claims she was swindled basically. I know her. I don't know him. From my perspective, I have no reason not to take her at her word.

Fair enough.

I respect you coming around on the Doug hysteria you started, but you only have her side of the story because you're choosing to stay in Martina's simp bubble/safespace/echochamber. The other guys' side of the story is very much out there and well documented at this point. Here's the most succinct summation of the whole feud that I can find. Go read the email they sent in reply to her firing them. They offered her an olive branch and she doused it in gasoline. Why? And how do you as a supporter of Martina justify it? I'm genuinely curious.

Take it easy. He's not obligated to interrogate her though she certainly deserves the scrutiny. I believe someone in the stream brought up some of the matters discussed in those messages, and not surprisingly she blew all that off. It's just going to be he-said-she-said until we're allowed to see where the money went.

Rackets has made himself a side show. He's done the exact opposite of Richard and his lawsuit. He goes to conventions. I think it make ac circuit and outside people see the destruction of a man's life as something silly because of Rackets and Ty's connection to him.

Yeah, just look at how the upcoming Rekeita-Doug stream was down-voted very quickly. I seriously despise this vendetta against Doug. It does nothing but show these people their true colors. God, I still remember how the lot of CG were so sympathetic to Edwin after he very likely was swatted by those nasty SJWs we were all warned about by them. Now look at their relationship.

I'm not "supporting Martina", but as we've established here, (and cited as the legal basis for the groypers' claim of ownership in those emails) the artist and writer were working on a pre-existing creative collaboration for 7 months before approaching Markota and extending an invitation for her to take their project and sell it to Comicsgaters/Markota fans under the Lady Alchemy "brand". And to complete this illusion, Martina was at all times presented as the creator, owner, spokesperson and project manager of the Lady Alchemy crowdfunder. At no point during the past two years were either of these two prevented from speaking up for themselves, "correcting" Martina on her descriptions of this project, or discussing drawing or writing the project themselves on any relevant platform. Why not? To explain this, Maz (the artist) is quietly claiming to those who ask that he and the writer were "blacklisted from CG streams" by Martina but that doesn't seem to have stopped him from getting on the Dick Show and talking it over with Doug TenNapel when the situation called for it. Frankly, he comes across as a scam artist and the architect of this whole shitshow. The writer claims to have had little/no contact with Markota whatsoever.

My question is, if the groypers were willing to deceive the consumer like this and sell them a "Lady Alchemy" comic that was developed, in their words, "before I even knew what Lady Alchemy was" (not to mention be dumb enough to spill the beans to Smiller when asked), why should I not believe they weren't also willing to deceive Markota as well? The only flaw in the whole scheme is if they gave Martina Markota 1) control over the funds because she was being (falsely) advertised as the project creator and 2) somehow she got it in her head that she was actually running a project that intended to deliver as advertised. It doesn't sound like the writer (the person posting the emails) has any idea what Maz actually said to Markota when he was proposing all this. And if she was merely trying to rip these two and everyone else off, why is she (allegedly) paying to have this comic rewritten and redrawn?

It's like I said a few days ago, neither really knew what the other wanted. The whole thing reeks of wishful thinking.

For the time being though, I still lean on the side of the artist because it seems he was willing to give her an amicable enough out and that he actually did any work. I have no freaking idea what Martina did outside of promoting the comic on EVS streams, and I do not for the life of me understand why she settled with that artist especially if they did have a previous conflict with some magazine they were part of (which I still don't get). As you said, these people had 2 freaking years to try to hash something and get help for what...a 30 to 40 page comic? Good grief.

I've never really got the impression that Martina has any idea what goes into managing a project or show any interest whatsoever in finding out.

I'm listening to the weenie who made these shitty New Warriors; he thought they were too cool. What a weak little crybully; I bet Deathstroke, Punisher, and Wolverine made him sob with their hardness.

Also wow... they're basically a C-list for a C-list team... so I think what a G-list. I know the bar is low, but Christ man.

Also loving that it's all old men that gave these weenies their power, at least when he gave out backstories for them. Amazing and brave. About on par with the very incestuous looking twin art too.
Screentime's design really reminds me of something, but i can't remember what, maybe I'm mistaken due to it being very generic. An amalgamation of Ben 10s?

Well it is a series of tubes, why wouldn't it have gas? It's probably something dumb like wanting internet everywhere, so grandpa decided made it in gas form for reasons. Second thought was smell-o-vision experiments.
I'm not going to lie, I genuinely thought that that guy WAS just a Ben 10 fan art or something at first too. It wasn't until I didn't see the logo that I knew something dumb this way came.

Anyways, let's continue to shit out better ideas for this for the New Warriors:

Screentime: His grandfather was one of the pioneers of hard light technology and VR, and was experimenting with a wireless set of neural relays and a headset that allows for a person to regularly see augmented reality and realtime maps. This technology also allowed a person access to the internet with a powerful wi-fi signal.

They would allow the person to not just create holographic constructs with it, said constructs are "hard light", meaning they can interact with the physical world via a projector in the head prongs. The original purpose of this was to eliminate the need for a touch screen, but he was aware of its potential elsewhere too. These devices are powered on a mix of willpower and energy source, hence why there is a battery backpack for it.

Bored, this teen decided to test them out for fun one day, and just so happened to save his pappy's life when a corporate agent from a rival company tried to steal it from him and began to torture him. He decides, much against his grampa's wishes, to fight street level crime.

Personality wise, he's a mildly awkward jokester who tries and fails to mimic Spiderman's own lines. He even tries to use memes unironically in his remarks, which often is cringy and embarrassing.

Satchel: Rather than be called Trailblazer which doesn't work with her power, I went with Satchel instead. She is a foster kid who barely remembers her parents. She is fiercely independent given her pretty bad experiences in some homes, but ultimately has a good heart and a serious desire to help others in spite of some neglect and abuse. She's a bit of a motherer, but with a sharp temper that brooks no shit.

She became interested in being a hero when she saved a fellow foster kid from a meth abuser, and mainly focuses on street level crime too, particularly if the crime is abuse related.

She at one point found an old and dirty satchel bag in a second hand store, and bought it to replace a ripped backpack. It turned out it was magical, as it has the ability to conjure out of the air items she desires or wishes to have. They must be capable of being held in one hand and cannot be unique items. She often uses this power to either snack or pull items she forgot from home, or in combat use non-lethal items such as ropes or stunning weaponry as needed. The items she makes are mere duplicates that do not recreate other magical effects, she does not have the ability to grab items from elsewhere nor can she make another Mjolnir.

Rime: Fuck Snowflake, her name's Rime now. Rime and Stonewall are twins that effectively were neglected by teen parents not ready for kids. They raised each other, especially when their mutant powers came out when they hit puberty. They trust few, because they never felt safe.

Rime has the ability to form and manipulate ice by lowering the ambient temperature around herself. It's similar to Iceman's own power, but her abilities are less focused and hit on a wider scale. Her most common uses are to create spontaneous ice storms or geometric shaped ice weaponry.

Rime is pretty quick tempered, and very stand-offish. She doesn't like to look weak in front of others, and tends to only relax so long as her brother's there since he's one of the few people she feels safe around. When more at ease, you see a softer and more playful side to her, but it's rare.

Stonewall: Fuck Safespace, Stonewall is an improvement. Stonewall is technically the younger twin, but often the more mature between himself and Rime.

Stonewall gets his name because he has the ability to generate powerful walls of force that can block off a variety of weapons and attacks. It's also because he himself is a brick shithouse of a teen, standing nearly 6'8'' and still having a year or two to grow. He has tried to experiment with using these force fields as a thrusting attack, but it seems beyond him, possibly a mental block of sorts.

Stonewall is a more self-deprecating type of person, who tries to remain pleasant and polite. Deep down he's insecure about himself (he's not just a mutant abandoned by his family, but he's gay black teen), but tries to fight it with smiles and humor. He's extremely protective of those he trusts, and is willing to even lay down his life, feeling little self worth.

Moros: Changing B-Negative's name too. Moros' life was not a happy one either. Neglected by his scientist parents, he became depressed and withdrawn. He one day decided to end his life by breaking into his father's lab to inject one of his untested serums, given his father constantly complained about how often the subjects (mice) died from them.

Instead of killing him though, he gained a corpselike visage and powerful telepathic abilities that allow him to direct his own emotions into others around him, and if he really focuses even suppress their own mind and control the person like a puppet. He actually would start as a villain that the others are trying to redeem and help, since he used his powers for vengeance first.

He's a brilliant mind, but it's trapped under a layer of self-loathing, anger at the world, and self-consciousness due to his own ugliness. He just plain hurts, and it's hard for him to find a way out of it. Fittingly he and Stonewall "get" each other the most due to their respective depression.

Like shit I was barely trying.

...why is her name Rime? Why not ...shoot I'm sure all the good "ice" related names have been taken.

Edit : ...forget I asked. I didn't know that was actually a thing. It is funny though how this guy seems to have opted to not identify his comic-book heroes on their powers never mind their costume or personality. I mean, not doing that could work for a comic-relief character with a generic name like Bob or Gary and doesn't have a costume, but this is just dumb.

Not to throw a hand grenade in this, but without "contracts" the Legal Presumption is the Copyright defaults to whoever was paying for it. The artist is presumed to be work for hire. Was the artist paid in any way? If yes, the artist is Work for Hire unless a contract says otherwise.

And I'm not seeking to White Knight or defend ANY of these morons. It is yet another cesspit of internet drama caused by bad professional practices and no concept of how to actually operate as a business. These people are the living example of why starving artists starve.

Let's just say she was the one I had to put the most effort in because damn it all a lot of the good ice related names are already taken. I think it works too since I envision a better use of her powers is by hitting others with it in storms or by making weapons to make her less of an Iceman clone; her freezing field is further spread than his, but not as powerful or as focused due to her youth and personality.

For those who might not get the names, I went with the following:

Screentime: this was the only name I kind of liked and I couldn't be fucked to come up with a name that didn't suck, so I kept it.
Satchel: Named because of the mystic bag she has, rather than her tendency to lead or anything.
Rime: Named after the weather where tiny droplets instantly freezes when touching something. Also a play on her cold and hard exterior.
Stonewall: Named because of his power and psychological need to stay strong for others.
Moros: Named after the Greek deity that represents oncoming doom; fittingly edgy given I'd make him a former villain and his powerful empath abilities project his despair onto others.

Yeah, as good an effort that was for that character's name, I think a sillier/quirky name would have worked like say CoolJ or something. Maybe change B-Negative to Sucka and the fat girl to Big Trouble.

Ah okay... this is starting to make more sense.
So this picture, provided by Martina, is an example of "Major Grubert" that she alleges usurped the position of protagonist in the Lady Alchemy comic also has an online presence, but able to mask his presence from farm detection due to a protective cringe coating.

lady alchemy comic.png

Certainly looks similar to this self-professed "alt-right memelord", also named 'Major Grubert', proud pepe badge wearer and doubtless citizen of Kekistan, giving a based and redpilled interview to Vice News in a storage locker about what memes are. I can't imagine why Martina wouldn't want such a chad stealing the stage from Lady Alchemy.

And, wouldn't you know it, "Maz" signs off his emails as "M G". Really makes ya think.

Hoarfrost might be reusable. The existing Marvel character is way too white for Current Year.

They've at least got the brain (ScreenTime), the blaster (Snowflake), the tank (SafeSpace), the mover/scrapper (B-Negative), and the weirdo (Trailblazer) needed for a basic team. Trailblazer's Kirbytech backpack of holding empowered by "god" suggests an Eternals connection. Maybe Titanis' kid somehow?

She strikes me as a very passive person at heart which I suppose is a quality to expect when you're used to receiving instructions from some nyc stagehand to climb in an inflateable kiddie pool and get sprayed with tapioca pudding.

How could anyone expect anything good to come from turning over your project to a bunch of blindingly autistic groypers?

I unironically like Lady Shiver, Chill-Axe, and Bliz-Wiz as other names for my variant tbh. The other ones are spot on for how they're going to write a character that will not be good though.

Stream from Andy and Geek on Comicsgate and Warcampaign:

Summary:
1ST HR:
*Warcampaign has been sending their typical homo memes to Andy, he doesn't care. Someone in chat mentions Micah Curtis and TUG tried to go after Dick Masterson after his latest interview with Maz and Doug, but cucked out (does anyone have anymore info on this?). Geek and Andy talk about the Snowflake and Safespace bullshit.
*They talk more about Mike and Doug getting blackballed by CG, EVS accused using SJW tactics. At 35:40 they start talking about Ro Kabir and Warcampaign, later at 38:00 they show some spicy old tweets from Ro's deleted account where he talks about blacks, muslims, gays, refugees women etc. Geek and Andy thank Kiwifarms for the info, compare the tweets to Mike S Miller and Doug's comments which are pretty tame in comparison. They claim to have alot of info DM'd to them and will sort it all out and verify as they go, Dame Pesos is in the chat but doesn't participate in it.

2ND HR:
*More Ro tweets, they also bring up Matt Hanson (Panboy Soychild Donglover) and his pending cyberstalking trial and his feud with Crypto Comics and Preston Poulter. Andy and Geek suggest money is being funneled into other campaigns, but its all just rumors for now. They bring up a stream of Ethans were he is demeaning Doug TenNapel (Cash Grab launch stream), calling Dougs EWJ on kickstarter a spite campaign (wtf.) EVS apparently told CG backers of Doug to refund their orders on EWJ.
*They bring up CGs big conspiracy theory that Doug is trying to get Cecil and Cash Grab deplatformed from IGG despite the fact that Preston Poulter was the one behind that op and CG knows it (Preston admits to it on his own channel.) According to chat, TUG had a meltdown about Dick Masterson talking about CG (again anymore info on this?). Chat hates TUG (lol).
*Andy and Geek watch Cecils Cash Grab trailer and check his campaign page. Point out that everything is a parody, Cecils character is Dom Deluise, the Human Centipede variant cover, etc. Talk about how Cyberfrog is a ripoff of Ninja Turtles and much of CG is just recycled unoriginal ideas (not wrong.)
*Tonka is in the chat trying to start drama, no one cares. Chat shits on him. They bring up the Comic Book Huts recent accusations about Ethan being investigate by the FTC and possibly being Zoe Quinns cousin. Geek correctly points out the CBH is a sperg and alot of his accusations are pretty far out there, however on the FTC website Geek points out that Ethan technically has broken 5/7 reasons for being investigated (no products, late products, no refunds, being threatened for posting online reviews.)

3RD HR:
*They watch a portion of the Dick Masterson interview with Maz and Doug T. Talk about Lady Alchemy and Martina's feud with her writer and artist, talk about Doug being harassed by CG for nearly a year now and the Sean Gordon Murphy variant cover drama.
*Andy gets distracted because he likes the look of Jack Irons #3 (I have one and two, haven't read them yet but they do look good.)
*Andy and Geek talk about Cridious failed campaign, what happened to the money and the Preston Poulter possible buyout. They watch abit of Antonio Brice's stream.
*(2:44:30), EVS enters the chat and starts demanding a link like a thirsty boy and stresses that he does not associate with Cridious anymore. Continues to demand a link like he owns the place. CG spergs start filing in, Ben Henderson and Sweetcast join the chat.
*EVS when pushed on Ro's past tweets lies in the chat, claiming Ro is a fan and not a creator. (Remember Vestige Ethan? The Warcampaign IGG book that you did a cover for?)
*A free for all has broken out in chat. Donga and his viewers VS Andy and Geek's viewers VS Comicsgate and Warcampaign VS Anti-CG and people who just think Comicsgate is dumb.
*Stream ends.

Fan Advocacy Network also did a video:

He mentions what I did previously about how Rekt Planet is basically a downgrade from Bloodhoney. Higher costing perks for less product, he compares tiers between the two campaigns and Rekt planet is clearly less value for the consumer. He accuses Ethan of the same tricks the big 2 were doing trying to squeeze more money out of a shrinking audience. Estimates that Rekt Planet won't top 5500 backers (I personally think thats still to high.)

Ethan of course done a stream with a clickbait title:
