Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Thinking about all of this is making me worry a lot for my friends who live off base. I don't know how many of you are aware of this, but there's a large prison complex right next to the base between us and where most who live off base are. With state prosecutors trying to get who knows how many prisoners released and police response reduced, I'm having a lot of trouble with all of this. Again, PLEASE keep yourselves and your families safe. Predatory people are going to take advantage of chaos and lack of consequences.
The Board of Parole Hearings has currently suspended all suitability hearings, not to mention the prisons next to Travis are CSP-Solano, which houses level II and III inmates who aren't going anywhere anytime soon, and the California Medical Facility, which isn't going to release inmates currently receiving medical treatment unless they're already supposed to be released (because $$$). I wouldn't worry too much.

Found this video very interesting.
Has anyone seen anything talking about these so-called 'vaping illness' clusters from late 2019?

So he's an ex-Scientologist who spent nearly a decade homeless and selling/using drugs, moved to China, and then suddenly has a raging love-boner for the Chinese government to the point where he's routinely mentioned by name in articles by the Global Times. He's even gone well out of his way to refer to the Hong Kong protestors as "terrorists" and I've seen him make more than a few videos where he's insisted that Trump just "randomly decided to start a trade war, unprovoked, with China" and that "China does not steal technology, as Western propaganda loves to describe it."

This is not by any stretch an unbiased source. This is just another wumao hack that sold himself to China to vomit their propaganda at us. Also his skull looks like someone stepped on a boiled egg.

There honestly should be consequences for these tokyo roses too tbqh. This and those faggot "beijing correspondents" posting thunk pieces in US newspapers parroting CCP lies.

*EDIT*

FUCK ME. NPR is parroting CCP propaganda right now and their "Beijing correspondent" just said "China has shown its willing to make extraordinary sacrifices". Yeah, no shit Tokyo Rose. How many personal sacrifices of ethics and loyalty to your own people do you need to make in order to be a "Beijing Correspondent". I am 1000% mad.

Okay, canceling student debt is one thing, but having free college would be way too expensive in the long run. Why can’t Bernie be more sensible and promote alternatives to college? Not everyone should be going to college quite honestly.
trade schools are an alternative to college. menial labor is all being automated, so the amount of education required for most decent-paid jobs has increased. this happened during the industrial revolution as well. it could also be viewed as stimulating to the economy because it frees up more wealth for consumers to spend. it's way more efficient than directly pumping an asset bubble into the market.

we're literally printing money right now and giving them to big companies who are just minimizing loss and buying back equity as they continue to go more and more into the red.

You mean the vitamin E acetate additive people were using in their e-cigs?

LA County update:

Poor fella had testicular cancer. And recovered from childhood lung infections. He looks healthy and robust in this picture. Picked it up, allegedly, at Disney Florida.

1700 people tested, 13% positive.

The gun shop section at the BX (Base Exchange; think a smaller version of Target with military stuff here and there) is busy as hell and are running dry on budget firearms. The cheapest shotgun they've got left in stock is $700, which is shocking, considering how cheap most of their shotguns usually are.
I tried to buy a shotgun yesterday at the local gun shop, and all they had was a used (and beat up) S&W pump action they wanted $400 for and a bunch of $1,000+ tacticool shotguns. Ended up just saying "fuck it" and buying a 9mm handgun and putting up with the waiting period instead. No ammo to be had, either. Had to search about a dozen online retailers to find any at a not-gouging price.

My neighbor has left their house multiple times today. Each time they return their car is full of yet more toilet paper. I counted ten large packages last time, and they've done this at least four times today. They live alone.

First, you get the toilet paper, then you get the power...

I'm in a pretty hard hit area and the restaurants have been ordered closed. I did a very rare trip out of my house (been self-isolating for 3 weeks now) for work, and stopped to pick up food. I wear a N99 mask and gloves outside because if I get this crud I would probably be one of those "under-lying condition" deaths. Before I paid the guy, I slathered my gloves in hand sanitizer and wiped my card off. The restaurant guy was super happy. He said, "People may wear gloves, but then they just touch everything, thank you!"I went back outside and he brought my order back to the car. I don't know whether to feel good about this or just super depressed. I guess I did my part today.
