Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.

The news coming out of New York City is not good. Was listening on NPR and apparently even people who are hooked up to the ventilators are having a bad time. They have to keep the patients entirely restrained because otherwise they will thrash and struggle and in total delerium think they are either drowning or the ventilator is actually choking them. Or both. Even max safe settings are having limited effects on some patients, and nurses have to constantly come in to make sure blood doesn't build up in the ventilator tubes. :cryblood:

The doctor they were interviewing also said the Government should start considering adding Morphine and Valium to the emergency stockpile "in order to help stop respiratory distress in patients who won't be able to get a ventilator". Translation: Assisted suicide. Just....

Re: Ventilator thrashing -- the early Taiwan Cases had this go on, so not surprising we're seeing it in NYC. Still "nice"(?) to see it confirmed, I guess.

Can someone explain to me what is happening in Germany and why the numbers seem so low?

They're pulling a China. Go into the hospital with heart disease and COVID19? Die from your lungs filling with fluid and blood? "Oh, the poor thing died from heart disease." In other words, the German numbers are otherwise healthy people that died from Wu Flu without any other condition they could blame it on.

From firsthand experience with a family member, the docs didn't want to keep them on a vent longer than 7 days if they could help it. First 36 hours were lying on their stomach with paralytics because they were fighting the ventilator. I think they ended up leaving it in for 10 days because they didn't come out of their coma as fast as expected. The very existence of that foreign object in the body attracts a bacterial infection and they were on IV antibiotics the entire time.

This is also because being on a vent longer than 7 days starts causing brain damage.

my PI gave me a ppt made by some affiliated lab or something. it's not really that interesting & mostly a literature review, but here are some bits if you're interested at an inside perspective.

Took a walk to and through the local cemetery and back. About a four hour trip in all. Some observations:
1) it was quite busy today, actually. Everyone felt holed up, I guess, and Saturday just seems like a good day. Lots of dogs.
2) people don't know how to mentally measure six feet, apparently
3) happened to pass by the Spanish Flu era of the cemetery, which was harrowing to say the least.

>Italy has now officially more Corona-chan fatalities than Chyna

I'd be surprised if anyone, at least here, believes the official Chinese figures, because if you apply the American and Western European per capita infection/death rates to China, you'd interesting numbers to say the least.

Do the math for us tards please.

It's anti-American to not want people to suffer because Trump considers boosting the economy more important than the people who actually need the drugs he's promoting as a miracle cure?

If Trump actually cared about the American people (rather than his masters) do you think that he would be letting hydroxychloroquine stocks be gobbled up by greedy 'New Yorkers' as an unproven prophylactic rather than ensuring they are reserved for a) people who need them for their normal uses b) people suffering serious symptoms of the coronavirus?

I mean, that sounds like exactly the opposite of what an enlightened leader would do.
HCQ is reputed to have worked well in Korea and China, but has not yet been proven in a controlled test in the US. New York is a significantly large population and will do nicely as a test.

Fellow CA and NY kiwis, please remember to shelter in place and not spread things further to the heartland

52 total cases in NZ. 2 are community spread.

Local library here has social distancing being practiced, all toys removed from kids area.

People in Facebook groups are offering to help with shopping trip for elderly and immunocompromised if delivery or click and collect is booked out which is nice.

While I understand the logic that x people more die every day of something else, 400 people spread out around the country is an abstract statistic. I would assume having any significant number of mortalities piling up in one place all at the same time and also massively endangering attending hospital staff is pretty memorable for those taking part.

Yeah, a lot of these people would have died soon anyway of cancer or whatever, but they oncewould have had a chance to pass visited by family and loved ones. Coronachan appears to be a very lonely way to die.

eta stupid stupid spellcheck.

Sounds like it could potentially be the start of pneumonia or maybe pleurisy, but I'm not a doctor and both of those would probably result in moderate to severe pain whenever you breathe in. Bronchitis usually starts off as a dry cough and then later on you'll be coughing up a bunch of colorful, disgusting shit. Pneumonia is the same way when it begins to break up. Normally bronchitis or pneumonia will result in an audible 'wheezing' or 'crackling/bubbling' sound that you hear when breathing, at least in my experience.

For the first time in my life, I have been told by a doctor, "if you are sick, stay at home .... please .... do NOT go to my office or the hospital, unless you are running a fever and can not breathe."

Pretty exceptional, huh.

That baby is letting you know who's the boss. It's probably stretching, getting ready to burst out (they can kick/push into the diaphragm at times in the third trimester). Unless you have other symptoms you're probably better off at home. But do what you think is best for you and baby.

That is what I thought, but I feel a squeezing sensation in my trachea when I lie down and it brings on a sore throat of sorts.

It would be nice to be able to go to the doctor and get advice on this but unfortunately doing that will seat you right next to somebody who might be on oxygen in the next couple of days. And doc says, "sorry hun, common cold, no can do." But it isn't that and I am concerned.

General Motors confirmed to begin production of respirators, while normal automobile production is greatly curtailed (only a small number of parts, mostly for emergency vehicles)
(archive)

My first new car was a chevy cavalier, hope to christ they do a better job on the respirators.

Do the math for us tards please.
Official Chinese numbers for comparison:
Infected: 81,008
Dead: 3,255

Chinese numbers with US American per capita:
Infected: 105,368
Dead: 1,314

Chinese numbers with South Korean per capita:
Infected: 246,818
Dead: 2,861

Chinese numbers with Iranian per capita:
Infected: 354,080
Dead: 26,732

Chinese numbers with Italian per capita:
Infected: 1,273,572
Dead: 114,692

These are of course just some hypothetical numbers and there are of course gorillions of factors on why Corona-chan could spread her love easier in Italy than China. However, if the official Chinese numbers turn out to be complete bullshit, we might have a very rough estimate of the actual ones. At least theoretically.

It could also be stress related. Have you been anywhere corona-chan might have been hanging out? Is it abnormally hard to breathe? Are you running a fever? If its yes to all three you may want to consider going in. If it's psychosomatic or just a cold you could be putting yourself at undo risk doing that.

That would be haram. He wants to get a frankengina like a good little Iranian.

Sounds like you're alluding to a delightful fact about Iran. Homosexuality is illegal but Khomeini was quite pro trannies. There have been cases of gay men being 'encouraged' to get a sex change, aka castration, and then live as women.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/10998169/iran-gay-people-gender-reassignment-surgery/

Peter Tatchell, a prominemnt British human rights campaigner, condemned the Iranian regime's desire to "eradicate homosexuality."

He told Sun Online: “The ayatollah’s are seeking to eliminate homosexuality by pressuring or forcing gay men to undergo gender reassignment surgery to make them ‘women’.

"Some gay men agree to become trans women to protect themselves from prosecution and execution when they have sex with men.

"They don't want to be trans but fear being hanged if they don't transition.

“Iran’s policy of encouraging gender reassignment has nothing to do with supporting trans people.

"It is motivated by a desire to eradicate homosexuality and enforce traditional male and female gender norms."

That's some chilling shit.

Seeing a lot of rural people starting to get pissed on Facebook groups.

They're starting to really call suburbanites and city dwellers "bug-people" and "locusts" and "parasites."

Lots of people leaving bigger cities to scour the countryside stores to buy up bread and the like and getting pissy if they're told that they can only have 1 per family or 1 per person. They've tried the "go out to the car and come back" shit and demand to talk to a managed when told no, then threaten to call the cops/lawyer if they're refused by the manager.

Know that a few towns around me are asking the cops to do something to stop these assholes from just descending on local stores like a fucking horde of locusts.

It's breeding a LOT of hatred and disdain toward city dwellers.

Guess eating bugs and living in the pod sounds good when you're consigning the lower class to doing it, but Karen isn't happy having to live in her bugkingdom while others get to go to the grocery store like a human.

On the plus side, hearing more trains. Saw a couple with "NO MED" and "NO FOOD" spraypainted on the cars.

UK's doing plenty by this point
After the infection has spread throughout society cuckistan is closing the barn door. Very impressive.

It's slow, but people are starting to wake up in New Zealand. The Right Honorable horse-faced cunt Jacinda Ardern is still doing jack shit, but some rural communities are starting to take action.

The Maori up in Hicks Bay on the East Coast are looking to set up proper blockades and checkpoints to stop Chinese and other foreigners coming into their community, the sort of thing the government should have been doing.
They have the advantage of being off the main road, so they could shut things off without stopping traffic on 35, and there's really only one route in unless you come in on foot or with ATVs or horses. There isn't that big a police presence on the coast outside Gisborne which is a good ways away, so the East Coast Maori could probably close off big segments of the Coast if they need to.

Some reassuring news re the US food supply. Heck, if all the "locusts" had shown some self-discipline there'd be no empty shelves anywhere today. Fuck the "locusts".

Whoa, nearly 1000 pages and 20,000 posts. Thanks to everyone who has contributed. Sadly, believe this thread has many thousands more pages to go before we can turn the page on the ChiCom Flu. Just hope all our KFers and their loved ones get through this. 👍

Why would there be food shortages anyways? The disease isn't spread enough in any western countries to interrupt the supply chain by making the involved workers sick. If people just would keep buying food as normal, the stores would be filled just like usual. This panic buying is making everything just worse for everyone, especially if the supply chains do actually end up getting interrupted by worker shortages.
I've heard of people over here who did things like buying 40 pounds of sugar. Why the fuck would you do this? Under ANY circumstance?

That being said, I did a lot of research into this topic and read a lot of similar news pieces like the one above from several countries, inteviewing long lists of specialists. Food isn't really in danger to run out anywhere (especially essential food) so it's pretty likely people will just exhaust what they can buy and the stores will just end up stocking as normal. That's also probably why you see all western governments pretty much just ignoring the hoarding. Some kids from now some decades down the road will end up inheriting all that toilet paper their parents bought back in 2020 tho.

There's one problem though - Ethanol is running low.

In other news, the german government decreed that starting next month, nobody can be evicted from his home until at least september, no matter what. Also you can apply for unemployment money starting next month without the government doing any check into your finances. For those not knowing, applying for benefits is a long and very bureaucratic process where you have to give the government insight into all your finances. There was a lot of discussion and conflict over the years about this absolutely gargantulan apparatus and how expensive and red-tape covered it is. The government was always very set about not touching it and could only be barely kept from making it even more complicated. They just suspended that entire system overnight. They know shit is about to hit the fan economically.

Los Angeles County. Downtown LA.
Los Angeles Unified School District.
Doctors offices downtown.

We have been in quarantine since they closed the schools. Husband working from home.

So Illinois is "shut down" and I'm in the suburbs just outside of Chicago.

Nothing has changed. Fast food places are still open, people going to best buy and shit, everyone's out and driving around. Everyone has just completely ignored the warning. Amazing.

So what do you think the weekend shooting number will be like for Chicago? No drop off , better or worse?

Is Corona-Chan doing her lap dance in Saskatchewan?
Ahhhh they've got nothing on Iran!

Confirmed cases: 20,610
Total deaths: 1,556

Edit: Also note that Iran's birth rate is 1.66 (very low) and if what I'm suspecting about Corona-chan and sterility are correct the population of Iran could be severely affected by this for decades.

The Spanish Flu made Alaska white majority. About 10% of all natives died, but only about 100 whites.
