The counterargument is that the numbers are that low for coronavirus because of the measures already taken, that if we dont quarantine...well....we've all seen what is happening in italy, they imposed quarantine too late and now the case numbers are ramping up so fast the healthcare system cant keep up, and as a result more are dying and triage has been complemented. The US is desperately trying to avoid that by any means necessary.This morning went to hospital "wellness center" to have blood drawn prior to a routine appointment next week.
Not many people there. Employees were wearing gloves, some wearing masks. Receptionist told me the hospital was going to temporarily close the "wellness center" due to lack of volume.
Blood drawn, departed, walked across street to a strip mall. Only store I saw open was Target. They had some toilet paper. Got a pack. Saw some empty shelves. If you wanted hand sanitizer you had to go to Guest Services, see if they had any in stock.

And while we're at it, sure is touching to see all the politicians and bureaucrats shoving "shelter in place" down our throats never fear not getting that next paycheck. So why should they care about the plight of our working-class people? Easy to talk when you need not worry about paying for housing, etc. But I still don't understand why we need to take such draconian measures when the ChiCom Flu isn't causing anything near the casualties that happen here every year from the "regular" flu.
It is very clear to me that the only one in "power" that gives a fuck about American working people is President Trump. He knows how much good that money will bring. He's also acknowledged that the cure can be worse than the disease. Gives some cause for optimism that this lockdown bullshit will end sooner rather than later.

I agree that the measures they are taking go too far, but if they dont lock things down the medical system will get absolutely hammered, and the deaths will begin to domino out of control. The issue is that the government doesn't have the numbers to back this up. If we knew the true number of infections going on, it would make the quarantine more justifiable.
It's like being in IT. If you fix the problem you get derided for costing so much when "nothing is broken", when something breaks you get derided for "allowing things to break". You cant win.

I like a good conspiracy theory as much as the next guy, but there are 3 problems with that;
- The National Guard isn't getting these trucks until the Army spends the next 40 years beating the shit out of them
- I've found hi-res pics of this train while it was stopped in Chicago. None of the trucks had unit markers or any markings at all. They are brand fucking new.
- A train load of JLTVs gets shipped through Chicago every 4-6 weeks. Oshkosh builds enough to fill a train and ships them to point of delivery.
I've been home 10 days and have developed similar symptoms. At first, I was staying home because I couldn't make it past lunch without being exhausted. Then the bronchial/chest pain started. I've never felt short of breath, but my heart rate would spike after a flight of stairs. I've never had a fever, cough, or sore throat. The odd metallic taste started this weekend.
Called my doctor's office Friday about whether I should get checked out or tested. The PA said they don't want to see me unless I have a fever over 100° or can't breathe. I didn't really want to go anyway, so here I sit.
