I can't help noticing that I have made it 92 pages into this terrible bill of Pelosi's and she's given billions and billions of dollars to different branches of the government, but I've yet to see anything talking about giving money directly to Americans in the form of those $1k checks. I've seen some grants and stuff put aside to be spread out through various groups of people or salaries, but no instructions on exactly how. they could 'distribute' that $90m to the top three workers in their branch and send a dollar to the rest of the people in it and it would still count.

Maybe there's that check somewhere I haven't gotten to yet before she starts cramming in totally unrelated stuff, but it's still telling she'd go 100 pages without bothering to touch on the stimulus check the bill was made for.

Of course if it's not there at all, I think that's something people should hammer on to the public. Not the insanity she crammed in there, because not everyone will disagree with it, but that her counter-bill doesn't give any money at all.
The bill isn't supposed to pass. Nancy is playing politics to get concessions.

Nah, fam. You're reading it wrong. See, you have to pass the bill to find out what's in it.

I'm torn on Trump's decision to get the people back to work as soon as possible and lift the quarantine sooner. But if the economy tanks hard, especially in the U.S., it could mean a lot of suicides, record suicides from home foreclosures, pensions losts, stocks / bonds lost, people starving and depressing from how hard life has become, Youth having no prospects, no future, rather willing to die than just to live without any way to get fun and living a very very hardened life of having to save up just to eat some cheese and meat once per week with the familly. not only that, it would weaken not only economically, but also the defense / army of the U.S. would make it weaker on the international scene and who knows what could happen at this point when a lot of outside forces that clearly don't like the US could do (be it in the middle east, china, russia, anything is on the table then). And witness how weak it has become, how it lost it's grasp on everything around the world probably, it's hard to understand all the aspects that would be greatly impacted, weakened, or just disappear while the nation tries to recover from this.

That's a hard bargain, no... There isn't really one actually, from a pure survival point. there is just one choice out of the two that is much more dangerous and mortal than the other one, Hidroxychloroquine showed good results (when retards aren't self medicating with the pure chloroquine molecule that is 10 times more dangerous / toxic) Hidroxychloroquine can get most young to 65 year old people easily survive, with less success rate if older than that... Sorry it will happen sometimes... We probably have all parents that are getting old. I would cry too if i saw them die from this, but i'm pretty sure we are able to protect them "while" us younger people can thrive out there with some social distancing and really caring/ re educating ourselves at being more cautious around other people, sorry to say it this way, but even if infected, we can take hydroxichloroquine to get easily through it.

Letting your economy go to shit for months would not result in maybe a reduction of death rate to 1 to 2% By using hydroxichloroquine and antivirals, but VERY probably 50 % to more and a truely endangered nation from so much perspectives, sides you can't even grasp or fathom the whole spectrum of FATAL problems / issues that would come out of it.

Letting this go too long, that is the real worst choice.

Edit : Yeah, that's an unpopular opinion, of course i know... But i truely think if you let the economy die, then you'll end up with a lot of deadly domino effects. A lot of consequences that might end up being worse in the long run.

Yes, the term for this is "the dreadful calculus," and everyone who knows about a Pandemic knows about it. And yes, they're buying time, because the slower this spreads, the more options they have.

Spot on, might go away the warmer it gets, might get a lesser mutation like the one that stopped the last bad ebola outbreak, chloroquine might be able to stop it in its tracks or slow it, something else might too, maybe we get luckuy on a vax. Just have to buy time.

We just have to slow the infection rate enough so it doesnt break the hospitals and we can deal with it till we're through. It overwhelms the hopitals and Italy will be small potatoes.

Pelosi's Wu Flu bill is over 1,400 pages long, and take three guesses as to what she and all the other lunatics started jamming into the bill. This is, uh... 99% of this has nothing to do with the pandemic. You're seriously going to pump the brakes on the entire economy for stuff like "corporate board diversity", "conducting risk-limiting audits of results of elections", "early voting" and bailouts for the USPS?

Section 404, Community news papers
Section 706, Green house gases
Part 8, Audits of elections
Section 160001, Collective bargaining for federal employees
Section 704, Airline Carbon Emissions
Section 140001, Debt forgiveness for the Post Office

And that's just what people have dug up so far. Is this really the time for this shit?

These assholes should get [A Significant Wedgie]

Restarting the economy this early, when the virus has been proven to be asymptomatic for up to fourteen days? When the CDC says that it lasted up to seventeen days on surfaces?

The US is just as desperate to maintain their image as China is. They've tried throwing money at the problem, that hasn't worked. Now they want to force the economy to start up again, when all evidence points to needing a long-term shutdown.

This is going to be a terrible mistake. Not only will it not restart the economy, it'll spread the disease in an even greater capacity than it did before. We have no confirmed treatments for it. Congress is more interested in partisan bullshit instead of finding a common ground. Now we're planning on sending thousands of workers over the hypothetical trenches to potentially die just because they're afraid the economic bubbles will burst.

I thought America would be better than China in their response. Perhaps I should've been more cynical. We're fucked.
Very few Americans alive today knows what it is like to live in a depression.
The USA is a very different place then it was in the 1930s. Back then it was a mostly homogeneous society. People knew their neighbors and where much more self sufficient. Food supply lines where mostly local and a big chunk of the population worked in agriculture. You had unbroken households. Dad could go out and do some work for Farmer Joe in exchange for some meat while Mom stayed home and canned fruit and mended the clothing. Little Jill and little Johny could go out and scavenge wood and coal to help heat the house.

Today a large chunk of the population is fucking useless. Urban schools are keeping their kitchens open to serve breakfast and lunch because 60% of the population is on SNAP. Their moma is to dumb to cook anything from scratch and only knows how to warm prepared meals in the microwave. Dad is MIA or just passed out on the couch high. With out the constant help of government they would die. And just 40% of the US population could deal with an unexpected $1000 expense with out the aid of creditcards.

If the USA falls in to a legit 1930s style depression the cities would burn. Society would implode in a very messy way. More would be killed in the collapse then in the arms of Coronachan.

.
FDR's heavy handed strategies were popular because he championed popular legislation. Trump has some popular policies but kissing up to big business is near the bottom of that list.
FDR also had the media and entertainment industry on his side. Democrats controlled the radio and movies, Republicans the newspapers. And if you notice people start getting their news from the radio in the 30s

I can't believe how many cowardly doomsayers there are in this thread pretending they're being enlightened and even-keeled. There were 60 million infected and over a million killed by the Swine Flu and the world didn't end. This panicked response of quarantining everyone in the country and shuttering all businesses is bringing the country to its knees, not the virus. It's better to let more people get sick and keep the country going than struggle in vain to stop the spread of a virus that's mostly concentrated in places like NYC and watch the economy completely collapse in a way that could leave it scarred for a decade. Trump prioritizing the economy and trying to get things reopened as soon as physically possible is the right move.

Well, actually, no. If you look at the figures we’re seeing from epidemiologists like Neil Ferguson, we’re looking at 2.2 million dead Americans if we do nothing. Compare and contrast with the 10k Americans dead from Swine Flu. Also, extrapolate globally. If we do nothing, 90 to 100 million will die. If we do everything right and isolate people, the death toll will be much lower, and the virus will look like it was nothing to be worried about.

I'mma wake up the neighbors with how hard I'm keking. Oh my god it literally is a surrender of democracy holy shit this is hilarious.
Im surprised the NULLS FAVORITE PEOPLE didnt include shutting down this site in the bill. The best part will be seeing every faggo on late night uploading their youtube hot takes about it.

Also sort of hilarious that they have to upload like the rest of us. Pewdiepie should reup pew news for this reason

The bill isn't supposed to pass. Nancy is playing politics to get concessions.

Oh, I don't disagree. I predicted she would put forth a dummy bill to force GOP to either reject it and take the heat that the DNC dodged via media protection or allow the DNC to take credit for something they didn't do. I didn't anticipate her going so far as to go 'Accept these horrible things you'd never agree to or face the wrath of the US population as the media whips them up into a rage', but it's the same stupid political game in the end, politicizing an emergency.

That said...if she really doesn't have that check in there, GOP/Trump should shout that from the mountaintops. It should blow up in her face that she rejected "$1,200 to most Americans" and replaced it with "Trillions to the government, $0 to regular Americans" - let her try to defend herself by admitting she wrote it planning for it to fail while people desperately hoped for speedy relief. See how that goes.

Nah, fam. You're reading it wrong. See, you have to pass the bill to find out what's in it.

Ah, of course! I forgot, Pelosi just likes to keep people excited by letting them unwrap bills like birthday presents we only get to see after they've been paid for.

This new neocon/libertarian "sacrifice 10% of the population for the holy GDP" is probably the more disturbing twist to come out of this pandemic so far.

Its sort of hilariously cartoonish too because they would sacrifice their own voters to do it. The neocons/libertarians are essentially a suicide cult at thos point

"Do not eat the booty like groceries." - New York City government

I wish in certain states they could just quarantine counties and cities instead of the whole state. This is driving rural people nuts with everyone losing business in areas without the virus. It should be on county by county basis with places being open with social distancing enforced if the virus is not present in the county. It’s the best situation I can come up with and it would help the economy in areas that haven’t been hit yet.

Its not really trumps decision. Lockdowns within state borders naturally fall under the authority of the State governments. Which is why when some governors like that insufferable faggot Ralph Northam claim they are acting absent clear leadership from DC you know they are disingenuous fucks.
You keep Ralph out of this, he isnt welding peoples doors shut like CA, IL, OH, NY, and PA are

The Republicans are also making a power grab. Several propositions to increase the power of enforcement and several large corporate handouts.

These handouts mean nothing if employees are fired and the companies pocket the profits.
I'm not about to deflect anything onto the Republicans right now while the Democrats are being so hamfisted about how shitty they are. It's not like it is some huge secret that Republicans are fuckwits. I call shitting on Republicans a Tuesday.
