Projects like these almost always fall through at some point due to either the team losing motivation because they're all autistic trust fund babies with no worth ethic and can't spend more than a month on a single project without "losing inspiration" (read: getting bored) or due to interpersonal drama because gender-specials can't keep from stirring up shit with each other over petty garbage.

Those clashing art styles. Inconsistent colour palletes. Ugly designs, bad layout of info (that also changes for some reason) ...this hurts my soul as an actual game artist.

Spoiler: Kinda off topic

The thing I see about this game is that it’s most likely going to be dead on arrival. Even if it does come out or gets rushed out the door most of the dialogue will be considered outdated by then and make the devs look like out of touch millennials. Like @Pizza Time said, the most likely outcome will either be infighting over the smallest thing followed by a quiet cancellation or one of the artists having a temper tantrum on Twitter before or after canceling the game

Lemme summarises and apologies if distinct details are fuzzy but I did follow the Arkh Project drama with a lot of interest years ago because I love indie game drama and people who think games are just 'easy peasy knock them out in a day' endeavours and fail spectacularly.

Riley aka Dumbthingswhitepplsay tried to make a fantasy game with little to no actual experience in making games or writing and basically sold it around Tumblr with same fancy concept art drawn by some Asians to extort the SJW types into donating (firstly on Kickstarter which failed) and then on IndieGoGO secondly because they can take the money even if it didn't get funded. They touted it as being made by a studio of kweer POCs and complained that Arkh was soooo unique but not getting the funding due to not being white men like Tom Schaffer (who, at the time, had the highest KS launch with Broken Age. They also neglected to recognise that Tim Schaffer has 20 some odd years as a game dev and owned a provable studio with released games but naw, racism yah'll)

This spiralled into a huge tumblr drama when a fairly popular person who had game experience called out the Arkh Project for their grift game and shamed them for trying to make money off of queer and POC people and over promising on a game they couldn't possibly deliver on. More problems came when people demanded to see Arkh's design doc and Riley admitted they were still working on it. That eventually did come out and it was ripped to shreds for being inconsistent in aims and downright bad especially since it wasn't even finished. All the while Arkh was still grifting for money for their IndieGoGo and releasing only kinda bad (if not simple) comics to keep the smoke screen of the project up. When people pointed that the comics were not exactly up to par for a game that said it was going to be AAA standard (lol), they threw the artist under the bus and said they were fanart and not official. The artist felt pressured to say the same, basically.

Then more drama was generated when people went to critique the concept art and pointed out all the unique outfits for the characters were rips from fashion designer dresses. After that, the IndieGoGo closed and Riley and co took the money and ran it seemed. The Arkh Project tumblr was only ever updated to shill progressive handmeout projects and eventually just stopped posting altogether. Riley moved onto...whatever it is a unrelenting racist asshole does when failing to make a game.

Have any of these woke media crowdfunding campaigns ever not been a scam or a complete disaster due to mismanagement? I guess when you can always fall back on muh oppression to deflect any criticism there's no need for competence.

I feel bad for the people who financially backed the game, but... come on. At some point you can tell when these things just aren't going to work out. Remember, no refunds!
