I'd swear these polls are a psy-op of some sort if wearing a tinfoil hat didn't make my scalp itch. :Edit: You know what? Fuck it, lemme do a bit of the ole' Jesse Ventura two-step here. This poll is measuring enthusiasm, right? Who says that some of that 85% isn't excited about spite voting for Bernie or for Jill Stein?

Now that Biden is the presumptive nominee, they gotta take him out of the spotlight and see how much anti-dementia meds he can withstand before debating Trump. Either that or Hillary is getting his flesh tailored to her, so she can be prez.

No, but they are really excited to tell Donald Trump, "You're Fired." That could be enough.
Could be, but I personally find it rather doubtful. Biden will have to debate Trump at some point, and he just isn't going to be able to cope with being attacked in any real way. Moreover, Trump's approval level has been holding steady so far in spite of the coronavirus and a majority or at least a plurality of the public approves of Trump's handling of said virus so far. Combine that with the Dems doing everything possible to fuck themselves over and I think Trump's probably getting re-elected.

It will come down to the economy and how they manage to frame the Coronavirus handling I think, yeah. Biden has been in national debates before and done fine. I don't expect him to fall on his face. The talk about mental decline is going way overboard.

Other threats to him are his record on things like the Iraq War and drug war being terrible and how that can sap enthusiasm on his side. He also is not the most economically or socially to the left in general and will have pissed off some Bernie fans.

And then you have the Coronavirus threat forcing a super traditional establishment candidate to run an agile, potentially mostly online campaign that can adapt to a world changing at light speed. I feel like he may come off like McCain in 2008. Generally respected by voters, but not seeming to be able to keep up with the times. I would not be surprised if his VP pick is some sort of stunt too.

In the end, the problem is Democrats went with a candidate who essentially has a spiritually conservative message. It's not the literal slogan of the Biden campaign, but everyone can read it between the lines, "Let's go back to the Obama era. We had a good status quo but now things changed for the worse and we want to go back to the way it was in the past."

The problem is in the middle of a crisis a conservative trending electorate seems very prone to sticking with the actual conservative incumbent to me. They seem like the types to be persuaded by a, "Don't change horses in midstream," approach. Were we ready for a pandemic under Obama? As far as I can tell, fuck no. Maybe the response would have been handled a little better, but the masks weren't stockpiled then either, right?

COVID-19 has changed the world and nobody can deny it. I don't think it's time for a nostalgia candidate. Democrats are in the very unenviable position of having to root against recovery to some degree now if they want to make beating Trump priority #1. If Trump does a good job with the economy going forward without killing people his approval will go up and people will be grateful.

Basically for some reason democrats are more energized than republicans to vote in this poll from two weeks ago.

Who wouldn't be excited to vote for Joe "The Worms Are Eating My Brain" Biden?

"We have to take care of the cure, that will make the problem worse no matter what."

Bruh.

Biden has been in national debates before and done fine. I don't expect him to fall on his face. The talk about mental decline is going way overboard.
The only debates he's been "fine" in have been one-on-ones with Sanders, a guy who isn't anywhere near the attack dog Trump is, the rest of his debate performance in the Dem primary has been mediocre at best. The talk of mental decline may be slightly exaggerated, but the guy has very recently been caught wandering off screen during one of his livestreams and staring into the camera during another one until his wife had to come and get him. This isn't even mentioning all his gaffes and fuckups remembering things or with speaking in general.

The bottom line here is that even if Biden isn't suffering from dementia of some sort, it sure the fuck LOOKS like he is, and that alone could very easily sink his campaign in the general.

:Edit: I almost forgot to link this, https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2020/03/stay-alive-joe-biden/608614/ . That article is literally titled "Stay alive, Joe Biden", everyone in the media and the public alike know he isn't all there anymore.

Joe Biden just needs to change his campaign slogan to, "I'm not dead, yet!"

I think he should stick to scripted interviews.

"We have to take care of the cure. That will make the problem worse no matter what."

I've been mulling this over since I saw this clip probably an hour or two ago and I still have no idea what he means.

Based Dilbert Merchant thinks that they're going to use this self-isolation stuff as an excuse to Deepfake Biden's video posts for a while. One of his video posts has very odd looking arms, for example. Wooden.

This is the tech they'll use:

If so, expect them to try and figure out a way to prevent a debate between Biden and Trump. This shit doesn't work live -- as far as we know.
