He was a dispatcher. Obviously they're not going to say anything about weight, etc. but people should be sitting up and taking notice anyway. Most of the western world is fat.

So... shit may have hit the fan hardcore.

In Puerta del Mar, Cadiz, some guy entered weeks ago to traumatology, and was kept on the hospital with treatment for injuries.

His wife has reportedly been leaving and returning to the hospital in secret, the hospital staff was trying to punish her for it, but hadn't managed to get the cops on her yet. (She was his companion, but companions due to alarm have strict rules on when to live and come and under what conditions.)

Why is this important? He started showing symptoms for a respiratory infection. He said it was just a cold and he's had it for a while now. They tested him anyway. He has corona.

There are two worrying parts to this. First, since he was interned for a traumatic injury, well, they've not been following the protocol for a respiratory illness. Meaning he might've infected the people helping him move, bringing him food, etc. Fuck he even was in a room with a second patient.

The second is we don't even know if he's lying to cover his wife (for obvious reasons) or he's actially really had the cold from the start. Again, traumatic injury, that shit's left in the waiting room with everyone else without further protocol.

We still know nothing but emergency protocol has kicked into high gear and everyone's a bit on the edge as we don't know if we're about to get another outbreak. If it comes we're ready, but, well, we'd rather it doesn't.

A mistake a lot of people make when they are sick is just chug water and nothing else, and wonder why they recover so slowly/feel awful. I dont particularly like the stuff but bought an 8 pack along with 2 gallons of orange juice for this exact purpose

There's also generic versions of Pedialyte that taste better than Gatorade.

I know this post was made to be smug about how Mayors and Governors are flailing around right now, but this actually shows a major problem with our Government; On paper it is still a Federation of States, but in reality it is an overcentralized Empire that in crisis can't manage to send supplies to every corner of the county. This is historically how Empires start failing.

What reason do they have to tiptoe? They have built-in deniability via a populace that will stay silent out of fear, they have a stranglehold on manufacturing and they have third-world countries bending over backwards asking for them to come in and develop cheap shit in exchange for raw materials.

They'll put on a cheerful, sympathetic face but no one of consequence is going to be held responsible for this.

Dr. John Campbell cancelled. Linked timestamp relevant - "You can't change your sex, but you can change your weight". Two bigoted statements in a single sentence. I can't even. First of all - sex can be changed and secondly - body weight is determined by genetics and can't be changed. So, has the police already dragged this trans- and fatphobic bigot to the jail or is he still free to spread his hate?

Federalism will be the death of us.

The real promise of a Conservative Supreme Court is the potential to cut back on omnibus laws that affect every state and jurisdiction at the expense of local experiments, but that's failing. Roberts is more concerned with public perception than principles.

PC Culture is so out of whack it literally threatens to destroy the country via these stupid riders being attached to the bailout package. Completely serious when I say Democrats scare me more than the virus right now. Your health and the economy can come back, but Death Cults with Power will see their agenda fulfilled.

In another topic, I wished the media would focus more on those who recovered rather than going overboard reporting the numbers of infected and dead people. I still kind of feel that way. However, I am genuinely worried about this pandemic. Especially since my home is in lockdown and quarantine mode and I don't want my mother, who is in her 60s, to potentially get it.
