I know some brainlets here are going to scream "FAKE" but the explosion of new cases we've seen recently are not so much due to the virulence of this disease, but more than likely just a simple re-affirmation of what epidemiologists have been suspecting for well over a month. There's been sustained community spread everywhere far earlier than the first reported cases and only now are we starting to see that as our testing capacity improves in the US. A big spike in numbers looks scary but I'm fairly certain that's only because of people getting tested more and more.


But I like to remain optimistic and not shit bricks when I'm shown scary data with no context, unlike the rest of the internet.

Italy has one of the oldest populations, 22% of their country is within the kill range by age alone and they tend to greet eachother in very physically intimate ways(i.e. cheek kissing). They probably spread it all over the place before symptomatic patients were starting to show up in hospitals.

I know, but sometimes genetics play a role. For example, my mom and grandma suffered from rheumatoid arthritis, and American Indians in general are prone to it. I know that it isn't a transmitted disease, but who knows about this one.

Who knows, maybe 80% of Italy suffers from hypertension due to an all-pasta and pizza diet. And as we know, hypertension is a big co-morbidity factor.
