They believe all pieces of media are inextricably linked to the people who create them, which leads to them trying to push shitty projects like Validate and flaunt how diverse their team is, and put down any and all projects lead by cis white men. They don't care about the project, they care about the arbitrary representation.

The whole relationship of hardcore SJW and Death of Author concept is very, very hypocritical from my experience.
They redraw all characters changing their appearance, giving them sexuality headcanons and captions like "x character is trans, I don't make the rules" or "x game developers made my favourite character dirty so he deserves better and is mine now uwu" and are angry when people point out that it's too far from original concept, disagree with their HEADCANONS.
But at the same time, all long-time fans who are angry with changes and poor writing with, let's say, new Star Wars, are "entitled" and "we don't own you anything", "this does not belongs to you", "let younger people enjoy it, your time is gone".
So, when they demand representation and make campaings on social media or Twitter posts that something is "problematic" and need to be changed, it's super OK.
I'm not saying that those "oldschool fans" can't be obnoxious or act like dicks too (but from what I see it's far more rare, maybe because they are often older and more calm or don't have so much time like college students), but this is obvious double standard.

today i watched a buzzfeed unsolved video. i despise buzzfeed- but i like true crime. i couldn't stand it 2 minutes in so i quit- and when i read the comments it was full of teenage girls gushing over the two soyboys who did the narration for it. then i decided to go on tumblr to see if my hunch was right- and i was correct. people ship these two losers.

and i found anthro art of them.

I actually quite like Unsolved (it's the only good thing Buzzfeed's ever made, honestly) and since the beginning the shipping of the two guys has been a massive problem in the fandom. It's so creepy, but for whatever reason it never gets shamed and pointed out as the gross, objectifying, and invasive bullshit that it is.

Both Shane and Ryan have girlfriends who they're clearly crazy about and yet the fan base is constantly cooing about how ~in looooove~ they are and drawing shipping fanart and writing fan fiction. It's so gross and I don't understand how they can't realize that the boys aren't fictional characters or dolls to play with- they're real human beings and deserve to be treated as such.

Notice how they are just regular people, complete with regular human ears, to which additional animal ears and tails have been glued? That is the mark of the pathetic otaku fan-artist, and you need to recognize it. It indicates an anime influence, which gives the degeneracy a different category than western anthromorphism.

In the case of animes/mangas most fandoms are good as long as they don't have a mainstream audience, like in the case of Boku no Hero Academia. It was a well known manga even before it got an anime adaptation and the community around it was mostly wholesome but as soon as it became mainstream with the anime it crumbled (somewhat).
