To all the angry idiots and exceptional individuals giving this autistic and mad rates you're just coping for the fact you have no argument against the cleansing that corona-chan will bring to the overpopulated, filth filled, corrupt shitholes in non-white countries.
It's very sad this disease hit Europe and it's lucky it missed USA with Trump's excellent work, but I really think we need to focus on punishing China for spreading this and other shithole countries for bring it globally. They need to be taught a lesson for their crimes and you simply can't accept reality if you're trying to reject such a simple notion. ]

This is costing our economy lots, and somebody needs to pay.
Watch as everything accelerates and we have no other choices left, don't be a cuck.

Look I don't know who the * you are, but advocating genocide is uncouth. You are deluded on so many fronts, it is appalling. The management of Corona has been largely on the state and local level here in the United States. While you are obviously allowed to praise Trump, his powers are actually rather limited with regards to state and local management of this.

I can't wait for people in the shithole third world to die and rectify the mistakes that foreign aid has created. However shutting down business in America is a liberal media hoax ploy to weaken America.

I don't want to rain on your parade but I strongly suggest that you learn about this virus. It kills people of every walk of life and quite painfully. And the idea that it has not reached the States is simply false. We are bracing ourselves for a permanent change of lifestyle, possible riots, millions of gnarly deaths, mass layoffs, and a skeletal economy over the next few years, barring some kind of miracle cure.

Not sure how you think that China should "pay" for this, but I'll let you figure it out.

btw. they figured out that one strange sympthom that you have it is that you can't see forums avatars. Really. Weird stuff.
People talk about solidarity of nations or borders or not using the hospitals the government forces you to pay for but what I really want solidarity for is...

On kiwifarms, can we have solidarity of spelling out rude words with our giant letter blocks?
I'm thinking a NIGGER, maybe a FAGGOT?

Namaste.

Guido said this was expected due to changing the reporting time which is also why yesterday was so low. So it's not 40 yesterday and 110 today but closer to 75 on both days.

The Department of Health and Social Care's Twitter pointed out that caveat yesterday on their own daily update. It means I'll probably skip today's figures and wait till tomorrow when we know it's a 24 hour slot proper and can measure it properly.

I don't like averaging out figures like that.

Oh! On the list of good news, I forgot: while jails outside of spain keep crumbling it seems seeing cops with SMGs and army men with assault rifles drop by as reinforcements got our prisoners to... reconsider their threats of mutiny. Yeah who'd've thunk even those stupid fucks would find god when starind down that barrel. Huh? But let's see how surrendering works out for france. Learn a shit or two about real deterrence!

Yeah but having private businesses work for the state is communism and we can't have that in spain. No that's seriously the excuse the PP and PSOE are giving. Because apparently turning me into a literal political commisar (without the gun thankfuly) is OK but god forbid private labs are told to fucking work for once.
Well, you need supplies, and those are made by private companies. the RKI is a government organisation in germany.

Make sure to archive anything from New York Times or Wall Street Journal. This is less due to potential loss of articles and more because they have a paywall after a certain number of articles. Please archive anything from local papers for the same reason. Going incognito doesn't always work. If you have a subscription, be a kind soul and archive everything you find on those types of news sites.

Ohio classed most abortions as nonessential. Unsurprisingly, this enraged the usual suspects. PPE doesn't grow on trees.

Happenins:

People do not understand how anything works:

(archive) rental properties don't qualify for FHA loans, they are still subject to foreclosure.

Popular chain craft store lies about supplying mask kits so they can stay open:

Gamestop's claim of being essential is still the most reasonable bullshit one. At least you can use a console's web browser to communicate with the outside world. What are strips of fabric going to do?

Since this all has been happening, everyone on the planet has been shilling for the CDC, with what happening with the WHO can we completely trust the CDC?
If Deus Ex games have taught me anything, trust no one. And wear sunglasses at night. Oh, and upgrade the handgun. It's op.

Not being serious. Do not use Day of Sex as a guide on how to live life. That'd be autistic.

Sweden's theory with the virus seems to be "wait and see what happens" and that their "culture of trust" will give them a great outcome.

I guess we'll, uh, wait and see what happens...

Gamestop understands that it is essential to ensure that the government can't use this crisis as an excuse to oppress gamers even more.

A US labor economist put last weeks unemployment insurance claims on a graph, full twitter thread here:
Image uploading keeps failing, so you'll have to click the link to see the graphs.
BRACE YOURSELF. I have been a labor economist for a very long time and have never seen anything like this. Here are last week’s initial unemployment insurance (UI) claims. Initial UI claims jumped from 211,000 three weeks ago to 282,000 two weeks ago to 3.3 *million* last week. That is nearly a 1500% increase in two weeks. Is the shock-factor of last week’s UI numbers being driven by seasonal adjustments? Nope. Here is the not-seasonally adjusted series. Even more disturbing? Last week’s spike in UI claims is just the tip of the iceberg. We estimate that by summer, 14 million workers will lost their jobs due to the #coronavirus shock. Congress is currently debating a $2 trillion #stimulusbill to help this country through this unprecedented crisis. It will be an important step in our response, but we will need more and better. I mean, LOOK AT THIS. Initial UI claims, this time with recession-shading. Stunning how this simply dwarfs the Great Recession.

So racist of them for doing this. It's not because you haven't truly curtailed the spread of coronavirus in your country, but because of those dang, dirty foreigners.
Remember when it was racist to ban travelers from China?

Just returned from the weekly visit to Costco. Place wasn't real busy at all. Saw none of the regular Costco brand bottled water. Still out of some things, item limits on others. Got what little I wanted. No shortage of produce. Meat supply good, as was milk and eggs. Now a small plexiglass shield between the customer and the cashier at the checkout stand. Will be interested to see how the commissary looks Saturday.

Looked at our weekly "alternative" newspaper this morning. Usually good for some laughs.

This newspaper keeps stressing that "we are all in it together."

Bullshit.

Have seen crowds of fear-deranged people descend upon grocery stores and Costco like a bunch of locusts, loading up their carts with no regard for those who cannot push their way through to get a package of toilet paper, some milk, or a dozen eggs. Worst of all, was recently treated to the sight of such behavior at our commissary (military grocery store). I was ashamed to see the sight of fellow military people/families acting like a bunch of scared sheep. To be sure, there are now hours for older shoppers to shop at many grocery stores, and the commissary no longer allows guests. Also item limits for some things.

Also read about our local (VERY expensive) hospital denying ChiCom Flu testing to a man with a 99.9 degree fever. "Sorry, the fever doesn't meet the 100-degree threshold for testing." There are 24 cases of the ChiCom flu in this county of nearly 450,000 people.

No, I am not in anything together with such people. Want nothing to do with them.

Guess when this thing is over the newspaper will tout how everyone pulled together. The reality is far different.

And as a side note, have noticed all the "authorities" from the governor on down imposing all their various rules on us never miss a paycheck. In the spirit of solidarity with the hundreds of thousands of laid-off hourly workers, I believe all these "authorities" should accept no more pay than the average hourly worker gets in unemployment compensation. Perhaps these people wouldn't be so quick to impose one-size-fits-all solutions.

Well, the screen tells me the USA has almost 80,000 cases, with 1, 140 dead and 619 recovered.

Hmmm...and this month over 50,000 people in the USA will die of heart problems and another 50,000 of cancer, not to mention the 65,000 dying of other causes, plus the 4,000 dying of the "regular" flu.

In more news about how China is helping the world (archive):

The Spanish Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (SEIMC), one of Spain’s leading research institutes, posted on its website that it had found that nose swabs developed by Shenzhen Bioeasy Biotechnology had an accuracy rate of less than 30 per cent.

El País said that Spain had been told that the rapid test kit by Bioeasy could produce test results with 80 per cent accuracy, but that was not in line with SEIMC’s findings.

On Monday, a local health official in the Moravia-Silesia region claimed that 80 per cent of results from Chinese rapid testing products were flawed. It is not known which company manufactured those kits.

So much for killing off the old, decrepit and poor ...

Many of these areas are what I call "name brand" areas ... the ones people know of. Because they are affluent and popularized in movies and with tourists.

Hardest hit age ranges are 18-40 and 40-65. I am not surprised because in this country there are a lot of unhealthy very obese people, and if you live past 65, the curve is in your favor for living a lot longer.

Just a personal theory. @Otterly @cuddle striker @eternal dog mongler ?

Any credence?

You all might notice that as far as reputed "bad" areas go, Compton has 2 cases, Crenshaw, 2, East LA, 3, downtown, 6 ... however Inglewood and Hawthorne are high, for now.

Beverly Hills and Pacific Palisades are "up there," too. With other wealthy areas like del Rey.

Anyway, sorry guys, I am just afraid that the party is literally over and I actually don't know what else to say.

I wish I'd gone ahead and taken statistics as an elective in college. I keep reading reports saying that the infection/mortality rates are overpredictions and others keeping with the exponential growth/future peak predictions and I can't tell which are more legitimate.

It's Shroedinger's Stats. We can't tell which is the accurate model until... after the fact.

The main thing we're seeing now is that a lot of predictions were wildly off. Its death rate in the UK is worse than swineflu, but not as horrific as expected, same with the infection rate. We've moved from months for the peak to the peak being likely within a couple of weeks.

There's a lot of other factors but by now we should be seeing scores of deaths a day and we're... well. Not quite.

"Yesterdays" stats, while incomplete, showed a rise of 41. With today's "complete" deaths topping out at a rise of 115. I've tracked a few jumps up and down now and it feels like we've been averaging about 50-70 or so for a while. There's no telling how many of those are "replacement deaths" i.e the cause of death has been replaced and a lot of these folks were likely to die at some point this year.

There's even the remote and weird possibility that we'll wind up with less deaths overall for the year due to the lessened traffic, violent crimes, accidental deaths etc all this lockdown and reduction of unecessary travel etc.

Our current "doubling of deaths" is every 4 days, but we've also only had 3 days of lockdown.
